Steve Carell Attached to Dreamworks’ ‘Raised by Wolfs’

Steve Carell is keeping busy these days. In addition to lending his voice to the excellent animated film Despicable Me, Carell will star alongside Paul Rudd and Zach Galifianakis this weekend in Dinner for Schmucks.

But that’s not all on the popular actor’s plate. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carell recently reached an agreement with Dreamworks to produce and star in the feature-length comedy, Raised by Wolfs.

Carell will produce the movie through his production company, Carousel Productions. There is no word yet on the plot of the film, which is an original script from screenwriter Les Firestein, but the THR article claims that the incorrect spelling of Wolfs is a reference to the lead character’s last name.

Carell has had a few misses over the course of his career, but he is generally one of Hollywood’s most reliable comic actors. While there is no information out on Raised by Wolfs yet, I would expect the film to have a fairly funny premise. Of course, only time will tell. At the very least, we can be thankful that it’s an original script and not another 1980s remake.

Once he wraps up his run on The Office (this is his last season as the delightfully inept Michael Scott), Carell will likely be appearing in many more movies. THR mentions that Carell has a number of projects lined up through Carousel productions including Missing Links, Hi-T, and Mail-Order Groom (which may or may not reunite him with his Date Night co-star Tina Fey).
