Warning: contains spoilers for Static: Season One

A new Static teaser shows a popular animated villain that is stunning fans into a frenzy upon the comic's return. It's no surprise that DC's newest partnership with Milestone Media has revitalized famous black superheroes with new titles like Icon & Rocket, Hardware, and Blood Syndicate. As the first to debut, Static: Season One features a fresh new look on Virgil Hawkins. While its recent villains like Hotstreak, Shiv, and Talon can also be linked with the animated series, it also has a returning villain creeping his way into Dakota City.

As part of Static Season One #6, written by Vita Ayala and illustrated by Nikolas Draper-Ivey, fans noticed the return of the major Static Shock villain, Ebon. Leader of the bang babies in the 2000 hit television series and one of Static's greatest adversaries. The Season One finale shows Virgil defeating the bang babies and giving an empowering speech that calls out DC's mainstream lore. But, the young hero remains unaware of Ebon lurking about in the dark shadows. Setting the scene for what Virgil will face in Season Two, returning this summer.

Static artist Nikolas Draper- Ivey announced on Twitter that Static: Season Two is currently in development. The artist also exposed a first look at Ebon in a surprise illustration. Before, fans only saw shadowy glimpses of the mysterious villain but never his actual appearance. In this image, Ebon appears in his purple metaform surrounded by shadows that bend to his will. The meta villain reveals himself to fans within the number two, as if taunting his upcoming schemes in the new season.

The illustration foreshadows (no pun intended) an approaching confrontation between Static and Ebon. As Static appears to be inside the villain, indicating his shadow-absorbing abilities. A dangerous technique the dark Static villain horrifyingly uses on Virgil during his animation debut. The two opposing forces perfectly match in combat as Ebon's shadow manipulation powers and teleportation act as surprise attacks for our hero Static. But Virgil always manages to defeat the villain with his static electricity powers, targeting the villain's major weakness to light.

Now, Ebon is searching for his brother Adam Evans another bang baby with meta abilities. In the animated series, Adam is a rapper who goes by Rubberband Man and uses his rubber stretching powers to exact revenge on a shady music producer. In turn, making him a villain in Dakota City until a change of heart after a conversation with Virgil. Unlike his brother, Ebon is uneasily persuaded by superheroes and seeks to control all metahumans. Making for an interesting villain in future Milestone crossovers with Icon & Rocket but also proves the villain will serve an important significance to Virgil and his friends in Static: Season Two.
