I’m really confused (nothing new, right?). According to some comments on my Stargate SG-1 Ends post it seems our friends across the pond in the UK have already seen the rest of the final season including the finale.
No disrespect to our British friends (hi Richard!), but why has an American-produced TV show already aired over there, while here in the US it’s been so long since a new episode has been broadcast that I’ve almost forgotten it’s even coming back? Generally they get our shows much later than we do and we get their shows (for example Dr Who) an entire season behind the broadcast over there.
Just seems odd to me, is all.
BTW, from what I’ve read so far folks are not happy about the entire series ending with a cliffhanger that will be resolved in a straight-to-DVD movie.
Sorry guys, but that is just plain tacky in my opinion.

I really enjoyed the series finale - probably because I know that they have a couple of telemovies up their sleeve so I could just relax and enjoy the episode for what it was.

I can’t entirely blame the writers for wrapping up the series with the DVD release. Think about it. They spent year after year thinking “this” year would be the last one, and making episodes that started to wrap things up, only to get a reprieve. Finally, they feel somewhat secure after so many seasons on Sci-fi, and then they lower the boom - mid season no less. Now they have to tie up every storyline they’ve opened up within half a season? Without warning? A dvd release makes sense in that it gives an opportunity for proper closure, instead of a rushed one.
Here’s hoping they do ten seasons of episodes justice with the feature release.
A new story? Great, go for it. But not this. I mean think about your argument: An additional two hours or hour and a half is going to make that much difference in wrapping up a one or two season-long story arc?

Not to spoil at all, but it wasnt really a cliffhanger, but it did not resolve the current storyline of the ORI.
Oh, that’s awful about the DVD thing… knowing that, I may not even bother with the last few episodes… they’ll just replay them ad infinitum on the channel anyway.
