An official trailer for Star Wars Rebels Season 4 has been released. Star Wars Celebration is in full swing in Orlando and Lucasfilm has been dropping one major announcement after another. The biggest news yesterday was, of course, the debut of the first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which along with the cast and crew discussing the film during the panel beforehand, has given us the clearest picture yet of what to expect of Episode VIII.

Today, however, Celebration hands the limelight over to the more animated side of a galaxy far, far away with the panel for Star Wars Rebels. Season 3 of the animated series only wrapped up a few weeks ago, but Lucasfilm Animation is already hard at work on the show’s fourth and – as we sadly also learned during today’s panel – final season.

Not wanting to end their celebratory panel on such a sad note, Dave Filoni also shared the first trailer for Rebels Season 4. Give it a watch above.

The announcement that Season 4 of Rebels will be its last isn’t entirely surprising. From the outset, the show has been working on a restricted timeline and, as the the events of Rogue One (which actually featured some Rebels easter eggs) and A New Hope get ever closer, the adventures of the Ghost crew need to wrap up. This new look is keenly aware of that, making each characters’ respective endpoints the focus.

In the trailer, Sabine is shown rallying more Mandalorian troops with Ezra at her side; he even has his own Mandalorian armor. She seems to have also chosen who it is that should wield the Darksaber – Bo Katan, the late Duchess Satine’s sister and former Death Watch lieutenant. We also see a dear moment between Hera and Kanan, followed with scenes of Hera continuing to rise in the ranks of the Rebellion and Kanan committing himself and Ezra to make a last stand to protect Lothal. Saw Gerrera makes another appearance, as does Mon Mothma, who narrates a section of the trailer. There’s also a brief glimpse of Thrawn’s personal bodyguard Rukh, the old canon character voiced by Warwick Davis. There’s even a quick glimpse at Kallus, now looking very much like a Rebel.

That’s a lot of goodness in one short trailer, promising a very exciting final year of the show.
