The upcoming final season of Star Wars Rebels will be airing at a different time than usual. Star Wars Rebels first came onto the scene in 2014, shortly after Disney had shuttered production on the beloved animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The new series took place a few years prior to the events of George Lucas’ original Star Wars film and depicted the formation of the Rebel Alliance, as well as the adventures of two of the last remaining Jedi.

Although people were initially disappointed that Lucasfilm had canceled their previous animated series, Star Wars Rebels has certainly developed its own impressive fan base that continues to grow each and every year. The series has been inching closer to the events of A New Hope, as well as Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, in which the Ghost (and at least Hera Syndulla) was present — but that also means that the series doesn’t have much time left on the air. Fans were initially skeptical about the series being renewed, but Lucasfilm and Disney XD are committed to bringing fans one more season before closing up shop.

Star Wars Rebels season 4 was announced at Star Wars Celebration 2017 earlier this year, and the upcoming final season was given an October premiere date just last week. The series will air on Mondays, rather than on Saturdays as previous seasons. Furthermore, each new episode will now premiere shortly after midnight on Monday mornings — specifically at 12:30 am. Then, the new episode (or episodes) will air repeatedly throughout the day, at 3:00 am, 7:30 am, 5:30 pm, and finally, 9:00 pm, according to Lucasfilm publicist Tracy Cannobbio.

Shifting the final season to Mondays is one thing, but altering the airing schedule to just past midnight is something else entirely. Still, despite airing throughout the day, the new episode will notably also air on Monday nights, which is when most people will likely watch, considering people will presumably be at school or at work during the day. Also, premiering the show earlier could mean that the new episode will be available on-demand earlier as well.

Aside from the new date and time, new rumors suggest that Lucasfilm and Disney XD may be doubling up the episodes each week, airing two new episodes at a time instead of one. Fans would undoubtedly love to have more content to watch per week, but the trade-off may be a shorter season if episodes air two-at-a-time. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens when Rebels returns this fall.
