After six seasons, Star Wars: The Clone Wars came to an earlier end than some had anticipated. Once Disney had bought the rights to the Star Wars franchise though, the decision was made to start over with canon. Clone Wars was made an official part of the new canon, but Disney quickly moved on to another animated Star Wars TV show: Star Wars Rebels on Disney XD. Set a few years before A New Hope, and the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars StoryRebels has become an important part of the Star Wars universe.

As Rebels moves into its third season this month, there have already been plenty of familiar faces and voices from the Clone Wars animated series that have appeared on Rebels seasons past. Now, it has been confirmed that another fan-favorite is set to reprise her own Clone Wars character in Rebels season 3.

At a recent convention appearance, Katee Sackhoff let some surprising news slip. Sci Fi Central Australia (via JediNews) has reported that Sackhoff revealed that she is returning to the galaxy far, far away to once again voice Bo-Katan in season 3 of Rebels. Sackhoff has previously voiced the character four times on Clone Wars, but this will certainly be a much different and older version of the Mandalorian.

It is not yet known when or how Bo-Katan will appear in Rebels season 3, but it should be an interesting reappearance when it does happen. Bo-Katan was previously an ally to Darth Maul, working with him to kill and dethrone her sister. She ultimately turned against him and helped Obi-Wan Kenobi escape off Mandalore. Darth Maul appears to have a big role in Rebels season 3, so it’s quite possible that the two former allies will cross paths at some point.

Sackhoff reprising this role is just the latest pre-existing Star Wars character to make an appearance in Rebels. In addition to Darth Vader, Clone Wars‘ Ahsoka Tano also played a vital role during Rebels season 2. The season 2 finale left Ahsoka’s future in doubt, although she may yet appear on Rebels again – though Vader has moved on to focus on securing the Death Star plans.

Season 3 of Rebels is shaping up to be all the more interesting with Bo-Katan now returning; not to mention, the long-awaited debut of Grand Admiral Thrown (voiced by Lars Mikkelsen). Fans will have to wait and see what other familiar faces appear in season 3, with many hoping Saw Gerrera also makes a return from Clone Wars (prior to Forest Whitaker playing him in Rogue One).
