Concept art revealing the earliest looks for fan-favorite Star Wars character Ahsoka Tano has made its way online. Star Wars Celebration is in full swing all weekend in Orlando, FL, and we’ve already seen a lot of amazing things. There was the stirring tribute to the late Carrie Fisher, the surprise appearance of George Lucas, and the reunion of Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill. All of the moments, big and small, have been wonderful for fans of the series to see. Even better, but we’ve even learned a few things about the future of the franchise. We know that, sadly, Billy Dee Williams won’t be returning for The Last Jedi, but that Samuel L. Jackson is more than keen on coming back.
In the next few days, we’re likely to get even bigger news. Many are hoping to see the premiere of a trailer for The Last Jedi or even some news about the upcoming season of Rebels. Along with Clone Wars, Rebels has provided fans with a whole batch of new stories and characters that fill in a number of gaps in the main saga. While there’s no word on when Rebels will end, the next season will continue the work of setting up last year’s Rogue One. And while we may have to wait a little longer for details on next season, today’s event has given us a look behind-the-scenes at the pasts of both animated series.
Clone Wars and Rebels showrunner Dave Filoni and Lucafilm story group head Pablo Hidalgo presented a panel where they gave fans a glimpse at some concept art for the two animated series that exist in Star Wars canon. They provided the conception of the Ghost from Rebels, and detailed the evolution of bounty hunter Cad Bane and Jedi Ahsoka Tano from Clone Wars. For those not in attendance, the Star Wars Twitter shared the images for fans to see.
As you can tell from the Ghost art, things stayed pretty much the same from conception to finished product. As for Cad Bane, the fan-favorite bounty hunter looked much different originally. He lacked his blue skin and had more of a humanoid look, before slowly gaining his signature mask. With Ahsoka, the Togruta looks pretty similar to her final design. The main difference is her facial patterns, with her final look hewing the closest to F. in the examples.
While the Ghost is still around during the battle in Rogue One, we haven’t see Cad Bane in some time. He will be turning up in the comics soon, however, joining forces with Darth Maul. Ahsoka, meanwhile, will be part of a group of female heroes from the Star Wars universe that will be getting a big spotlight this summer. She’ll star in a series of shorts from Disney alongside the likes of Rey, Leia, and Padme. While the canon adventures will be fun for fans, many are still hoping Rosario Dawson (or someone else) will nab the live-action role and bring the character to the big screen in an upcoming film. Who knows, maybe that will be announced this weekend. Stay tuned for all the news coming out of Star Wars Celebration.
Star Wars Rebels Season 4 premieres this fall on Disney XD.
