I haven't read any of the Old Republic stuff Stan. But I think that story would be cool to see in this new series. I know lots of Star Wars fans would actually (pay per view) to see some of these tales come to life. ;-)

There's really a ton of back story material in Star Wars, every character has a story to tell...
I couldn't believe the back stories they developed just out of the characters in Jabba's throne room. Remember that little dog-like creature in the hallway? He has A story! That book actually gets into what happened to Jabba's palace after he died.

Wookiepedia,   ;-)

That really sounds great, 790. I will have to look into that. Have you read anything about how Darth Maul became a Sith lord?

It says on Wookiepedia, "The ultimate test came when Maul was abandoned by his master on an isolated Outer Rim Territories world, forced to survive alone while being hunted by hordes of assassin droids. After a month's time, Sidious returned and challenged his apprentice to a lightsaber duel, one which Maul quickly lost. Sidious then tossed Maul's lightsaber aside and told Maul that he had failed, and revealed that he had been secretly training another apprentice to replace Maul the entire time. Rage and hatred overwhelmed Maul and, in one final act of defiance, he lunged forward and sunk his teeth into his master's hand. As he spat the blood back into his master's face in contempt, Maul realized he was no match for the Dark Lord of the Sith, and when Maul's emotions were finally spent, he prepared himself for death. Sidious struck his lightsaber down on Maul, but without killing him since it had only been a training lightsaber. Sidious then laughed. By wanting to kill his own master, Maul had in fact passed the final test. There had been no other apprentice. Sidious proclaimed him Darth Maul, a Lord of the Sith and took him to a new home on Coruscant."

@Stan you will dig the IG-88 story in the book. Its a fast paced well told story. It could easily be a kick ass 3-part episode of the series, even a film. I hope Lucas let's some of the novels/short stories come to life in this new live action show. Btw, IG-88's story Co stars Darth Vader and Boba Fett,,,

the Novel covers the origins of the Bounty Hunters assembled by Lord Vader in "Empire Strikes Back" its like 6 bucks.

1-IG-88
2-Boassk
3-4Lom & Zuckess
4-Degar
5-Boba Fett

There's also Tales from Jabbas Palace and Tales from Mos Esley. All are very well written and very heavy in back story links to our heroes in the War against the Empire.
Luke, Han and Leia.

Thank you, 790. I have never read that before, but I will definitely have to check it out. I am not very familiar with a lot of the material from Star Wars other than the movies, but I have been soing some online research lately. I think that there are a lot of cool things that would make great movies.

HK-47: "There is a faction of meatbags called the Sith. They want what any rational meatbag would want—the power to assassinate anyone they choose at any time."

I want to see a Star Wars movie about the Great Droid Revolution which took place on Coruscent (in the year 4,015 BBY). It says on Wookiepedia:

"The Great Droid Revolution was an uprising of droids on Coruscant which occurred in 4,015 BBY and the first conflict of the Old Sith Wars. It was during the Revolution where Jedi Master Arca Jeth learned the technique of short-circuiting a droid by using the Force. One of the memorable instants of the Revolution was when juggernaught war droids battled rocket-jumpers over Monument Plaza.

"After the rogue assassin droid HK-01 was finally captured, the Republic spent many years recovering from the attacks. Droid designers and manufacturers then turned to weapons developers to work on ion weapons that would short-circuit a droid's electronic systems. The result of this conflict would be an end to the budding 'droids' rights' movement for a time."

The live-action show is not Clone Wars-era, but rather post-War, pre-Episode IV. This is actually one of the less-developed periods of time in the Star Wars movie era. They're running a comic called "Dark Times," and of course "The Force Unleashed," but most of the other material is set closer to Episode IV (Han Solo and Lando novels, Dark Forces, etc), if I'm remembering correctly.

@Ken J

They're removing liquid now at the cellular level. I think once the Clone Wars series is over (in about four years, if they get their way -- 100 episodes), then they'll focus elsewhere.

But, it might be worth it if I get to see some X-Wings on TV.
I love me some X-Wings ... rumor is they're casting for Rebel Alliance parts for the series, so maybe it won't exclusively be criminal stuff (I know, technically the Rebels are criminals as well, by the Empire's way of thinking).

Again with the same time frame as the Clone Wars!?
Couldn't find a point in time which might contain something else that might be interesting?

Based on the vague statements made by Lucasfilm and/or its reps, I don't think Coruscant Nights will figure in the new series. But you never know when characters from the Expanded Universe will show up ... if Lucas himself takes an interest in them, especially. Since he's hoping for a 100-episode run (at least that was a number thrown around at one point), I wouldn't be surprised to see numerous cameos of various characters.

I have recently begun reading the Coruscant Nights series (novels) and the thought occoured to me that the setting and story line would make for an interesting small-screen series,even before I happened across this thread. Anyone know if the proposed series is based on these books?

@Shock

Me and you both have read to much expanded universe stuff!LOL!
But you bring up some points about the Yuuzhan Vong and the resurrection of the emperor. People forget about that stuff.
There were still a very few Jedi left after ROTS for Vader to track down but Lucas would never use that storyline. We'll end up with the something like the droids Saturday morning cartoon show except live action.

What can anyone really say about that? For any true Star Wars fan or Sci Fi fan for that matter. A Star Wars show with no Jedi, Sith, or Mandalorians is going to suck. If you have read any of the recent series, they involve all of the above. I don't really think George Lucas even knows fully what his extended universe is about. A show featured in the time of the Knights of the Old Republic. Now that's an idea

What sequel trilogy? The Empire has been overthrown and the Sith have been totally whiped out. What the heck would we need an additional three films for? Yeah, yeah I know expanded universe stuff. But the point is, the series ended where it was meant to end. If Lucas were to make even more films it’d be just for the money, not because the story required it.

You never read the comic books did you? The emperor made a clone body for himself and when he died he "forced" his spirt in to it. He wanted to lie forever. And the reson he made the empire was to unite the system's to fight off the Yuuzhan Vong a spices from another universe that wanted to concor the star wars universe. So if they wanted too they could make a 7,8,&9 and I think that would be awsome but unlikly to happen.
