Star Wars: The Clone Wars still has one important collaborator: the man who started it all, George Lucas. The Clone Wars had a long path to sharing its seventh and final season, which just premiered this week on Disney+. The show aired its first six seasons several years ago, and many thought they had seen the last of Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, and their other favorite characters. However, Disney surprised fans over a year and a half ago with the reveal that it was reviving The Clone Wars.

Leading up to the show's release, many have been focused on main character Ahsoka Tano. She's alive in the world of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, as it takes place during the Star Wars prequel movies. However, a cameo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker left many fans thinking she dies at some point after The Clone Wars. Luckily, series creator Dave Filoni cleared things up, suggesting that Ahsoka may still be alive today. While fans may never know for sure, since it comes from someone who's played such an important part in creating the character of Ahsoka, it does seem likely .

In an interview with IndieWire, Filoni discussed another part of The Clone Wars: the conversations he still has with George Lucas about it. He revealed, "We still talk and if I’m stuck I will bug George for ideas." Filoni went on to explain, "He is the canon. He created it and I respect that. One of my jobs and purposes is to keep things as intact to what George laid down as possible." The creator also shared one aspect of The Clone Wars he likes to keep in mind: "It is for kids — George would always say that over the years — but the beauty is that everyone can watch and enjoy it if you get the show right.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars is just one piece of the massive Star Wars engine at work. Currently, Disney and Lucasfilm are focusing on shows for Disney+ as opposed to feature films. The Rise of Skywalker saw the end of the Skywalker saga that began decades ago, so it makes sense to take a little break. Marvel is doing a similar thing with its MCU after Avengers: Endgame was released this past year. However, in that case, they're pivoting to newer heroes as ones like Captain America and Iron Man leave the MCU. Both Star Wars and the MCU have Disney+ in common, though, as they look to expand their brand via TV series.

It should reassure fans to hear that Filoni is still so concerned with running ideas past Lucas. As he explained, it shows a respect for the world that Lucas created, as well as how much he cares about crafting the best possible content for Star Wars fans. Filoni is an important figure in the community, largely because of how much care he puts into his creations. Hopefully, that will show as fans continue to watch Star Wars: The Clone Wars each week on Disney+.
