This year, the legendary Star Wars franchise celebrates its 40th anniversary, and Lucasfilm is going to do everything they can to ensure the party lasts throughout 2017. Looking beyond the theatrical premiere of Star Wars: Episode VIII, there are numerous events and conventions that will provide the studio a golden opportunity to look back on the galaxy far, far away and its place in pop culture history. Chief among these will be the latest Star Wars Celebration, which will be held in Orlando from April 13 – 16, 2017. Fans are already eagerly anticipating Celebration, since there’s a chance a new Star Wars 8 trailer premieres there.

Of course, the film panels are only one reason why people love attending events like Celebration. They provide an opportunity for the fandom to come together and revel in the things they love. For those planning to make the trek to Orlando for this year’s festivities, Disney has something special planned in Star Wars: Galactic Nights, a themed event that will take place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort on April 14.

A post on the Disney Parks Blog revealed the announcement, saying that Galactic Nights runs from 7 p.m. to midnight. Adult tickets cost $129 plus tax, while children (ages 9 and under) can get in for $124 plus tax. Park access and activities are limited to those who have purchased a Galactic Nights ticket. Those who have a Disney Vacation Club or Passholder membership will be able to receive a discount. Tickets are short in supply, so people interested are recommended to order as soon as possible.

Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017 Rey Sketch Star Wars: Galactic Nights Event To Be Held At Disneys Hollywood Studios

There are a plethora of activities and attractions planned for Galactic Nights. These include Star Wars photo ops, Stars in Cars (a motorcade of Star Wars celebrities), an interactive scavenger hunt, and a march of key Imperial and First Order figures – among several others. Disney World’s popular Star Wars Launch Bay and Star Tours will also be open, and fans can enjoy Star Wars inspired food and drinks. It seems like a lot to pack into five hours, but the Mouse House did a great job making sure that there is something for Star Wars fans of all ages. The timing of Galactic Nights couldn’t be more perfect, as it’s right in the middle of 2017’s Celebration. There should be many people in attendance, donning their costumes and lightsabers in full force.

Ticket ordering information and other details can be found on the Walt Disney World website. As of this writing, there are still three months until Galactic Nights takes place, so fans who want to go have plenty of time to plan everything out and make the trip a fun time for the entire family.
