Samuel L. Jackson Wants To Be In ‘Star Wars Episode 7′

2 years ago by

When Disney and Lucasfilm made the shocking announcement that George Lucas would be selling off his empire to Mickey Mouse and co. and relaunching the Star Wars film franchise in 2015 with Star Wars Episode 7, the reaction was mostly positive. New creative vision, new live-action Star Wars movies, etc., sounded like things we all wanted to see.

We gathered 20 of the greatest reactions to the Disney - Star Wars news and among them was Samuel L. Jackson who when asked about his thoughts on the deal, simply said “He got cheated!” in reference to Lucas getting $4 billion for the deal which he immediately donated to Education. Now, he’s singing a different (read: more positive) tune.

The 10th annual Spike Video Game Awards took place Friday, and Samuel L. Jackson returned to host once again. He was in a genuinely good mood, before, during and after the live show and provided plenty of entertainment. His face was put into scenes from many of the nominated games, much to the laughter of the audience, and in an interview with E! News, he answered a few questions about the Star Wars happenings, this time prepared for press.

“I’m not surprised but totally geeked by the idea of there being more Star Wars. It’s like, okay, Obi-Wan was dead when episode four started, so maybe everyone thinks I’m dead and we’ll find out what happened to Mace Windu. I can come back as one-armed or a one-handed Jedi that’s still around that didn’t actually die.”

Would Jackson return if asked?

“Hell yeah!… I could do that or be a ghost hologram. I don’t care. I just want to stay associated with the franchise. Not that I won’t because I’ve been in three of them.”

Of course Jackson would love to return. During the Spike VGAs he even joked about being in every movie. He’s currently enjoying a 9-picture contract with Marvel Studios to return again-and-again as Nick Fury for years to come, and that makes him part of the Disney family.

Before the Disney-Lucasfilm deal became official, George Lucas had met with Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher to let them know he was planning on making more films. Since that time, both have expressed interest in returning, along with Ewan McGregor and Harrison Ford. Who wouldn’t want to return to one of the biggest pop culture franchises of all-time? Especially with the excitement surrounding a new creative team taking over.

Would you like to see Mace Windu show up via flashback or as Jedi ghost?

  1. “Samuel L. Jackson Wants To Be In ‘Star Wars Episode 7″

    • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

He is a joke, don’t let him anywhere near the franchise again

  2. YOLO or not. :D

    But hell yeah !

  3. I didn’t like Windu at all, I don’t really think he’s a big enough character to warrant a return. Then again I’ve only seen him in the prequel films, I don’t know how much he’s used in the books or shows.

    • he was used for a few of the books in the clone wars series from what Ive read but thats about it

  4. yes, let him in

  5. I’d like for him to come back. Have you seen the 2003 clone wars series. Mace Windu could be epic if done right. He would’nt even need a lightsabre he’d just run around and force punch everyone.

    • the animated clone wars…. he would have never gotten snuck by anikin.

    • I wouldn’t mind him comming back, but they have to explain where he was during IV,V, and VI. Plus how he manged to survive getting forced pushed out a window.

I would be happy with the return of Ashoka, and some Wookie and Ewok Jedi Knights.

    • No such thing.

  6. Samuel L. Jackson wants to be in Star Wars episode 7? O_o WTF?!

  7. come back alive. we never really saw him die. i thought the way Lucas killed him off was so stupid

    • I didn’t think the way he died was stupid. But I also completely thought that it gave him a 50/50 chance of still being alive.

  8. NO.

  9. Yes! He must be in the next one and with an eye-patch!

  10. He was one of the very few good things about the prequels. How I miss that purple lightsabre.

  11. whatever SLJ wants SLJ should get IMO,he deserves it. May The Force Be With Samuel L. Jackson. :)

  12. Jackson is a fantastic actor but he wasn’t the strongest in star wars to me at least simply because his character didn’t have as much importance, I would love to see him again in a star wars movie but I don’t see how that would work for the story I don’t think he needs to come back

    • Spin-off film set during the clone wars or a little before it

  13. While Samuel L Jackson is awesome and I would love to see him return in one form or another, I can’t think of any way they would be able to bring him back without cheapening the movie. I mean, for a very powerful Jedi master, it’s hard to believe he died being thrown out a window especially when we didn’t see it, but if he managed to survive, then where was he when the rebellion happened. I would think he would be right in the action leading it or at least helping in some way.

He shouldn’t come back as a force ghost as he doesn’t have a connection with Luke or anyone else that was alive at the end of the sixth movie. I could maybe see him and a few other Jedi force ghosts coming back to help train and push new Jedi into the world though, that might be cool.

    • Lucas himself said that Windu did not die. Now it’sffor surehe has a cameo in the movie. His character wasn’t given the face time actually needed for true character development. Windu, was one of the most powerful masters of all time. Developed his own style of fighting, that was basically to explain to a lament, was the mma of light Saber dueling. He was actually head of the Jedi Order before handing back Yoda because he was such a B.A., boots on the ground leader and fighter and was needed as a general more than rrunning the Order. I’mnot griping at you personally, this just seemed as good a place as any to put my 2 cents in.

  14. As long as he comes back and gets to say, “Say wizard one more time M***** F*****”

  15. Or “I’m sick of these dark side Darth MFers on this MFing Death Star”

    • ROLMAO

  16. It would be cool to see Mace Windu again, but I think it would be better to see Liam Neeson and Mark Hammill together on screen in ghost form. I don’t know why, I just think it would be cool to see 2 wise jedi from completely different generations together.

I still think it sucks that Liam Neeson wasn’t able to do the cameo appearance in Episode 3. But he did get a special guest star appearence on SW The Clone Wars, so that was cool :)

  17. Casting Samuel L. Jackson in new Star Wars films
would be reason enough for me to avoid them.

  18. Well, I guess we never really know if Sidious did kill him or not. I say so, espescially after the Jedi Hunt was put into effect shortly after Windu was blasted out of the window.

  19. Hell no. He was such a crap actor in the prequels.

  20. More Sam Jack is like more cowbell! yes please!!!

    • I have a feaver!! and the only perscription. Is more Sam Jackson.

  21. This will absolutely destroy Star Wars. Disney ruins everything it touches people, how could you possibly sell them Star Wars? What’s next? Disney’s “The Godfather part 4″

    • Yup they ruin everything they touch. That is why the avengers flopped

      • You people have an odd perception of the term “flopped” (and I’m not talking financially) even with the prequels, let alone the Avengers.

On a related note I remember something my brother said to me when we first heard about the disney, star wars deal: “No new movies are ever gonna stand a chance, and it’ll never be because of them not being great movies”.

And indeed it strongly seems that there’s very little chance of anyone ever accepting any of the new movies, not because they won’t be well thought out, well written, well directed, well acted, or not have openly acceptable and praised special effects. Its because Star Wars fans are always gonna be too anal about things and not accept anything thats not almost exactly like the original trilogy down to the brass balls, and thats never ever gonna happen again (because you’ll never look at/see it that way)

        • I was being sarcastic just an fyi. I know it os hard to tell over text.

    • No, the ‘Godfather’ trilogy were made by and is owned by Paramount… and they were going to make a fourth film; it was to show the rise of Andy Garcia’s character Vincent Mancini as the new Corleone don whilst simultaneously showing the backstory of a younger Sonny Corleone. The script was half-written when Mario Puzo died in 1999 and Francis Ford Coppola decided not to proceed any further with it, and thank goodness too, the ‘Godfather’ story ended with Michael’s lonely death in Part III, it’s the way it should and indeed did end, no other installment is necessary, why tamper with (close to) perfection.

    • Disney ruined Marvel? or Pirates of the Caribbean? ESPN? They do a pretty good job of letting Marvel do what they want and with the exception of Tron have put out some pretty decent live action films. Prince of Persia was pretty decent too.

      • Pirates of the Caribbean was okay until they made more. They brought it to a somewhat satisfying conclusion, and then broke it by adding a completely unecessary 4th. I really hope this won’t be the case with Star Wars.

  22. Hmmm…

As long as George isn’t directing I don’t see a problem. I attribute most of the bad acting in the prequels to George’s directing.

  23. You would have to be either completely out-of-touch or just plain incompetent to make not only Sam Jackson but Ewan McGregor and Natalie Portman appear dull onscreen… but George Lucas somehow managed all three, which says it all about the prequels! And the worst things is, it didn’t have to be that way – even with Lucas directing all three episodes – if he’d

    a) plotted out the entire prequel story arc in advance, with detailed outlines, before work even began on Episode I,

    b) brought in both a great screenwriter to help on the scripts (someone like Frank Darabont or even Carrie Fisher) and a great outside editor (someone like Walter Murch) to help shape a tighter and more focused final cut,

    c) been more judicious in the use of digital CG animation, building more actual sets and using much more actual miniatures than was used,

those films could have been substantially better than how they turned out, I’m not saying they would have been a cure for cancer, but as pieces of engaging fantasy entertainment, they had so much more potential as films than the dull, lifeless, hollow, soulless, and cartoonish works that ended up onscreen.

  24. Not as a ghost or flash back. As a clone. Or even though we didn’t see him really die in episode 3 as an older version of his character. But yes it would be great to see Mace Windu.

  25. To all you Haters of Samuel L Jackson. Go jump off a Cliff.

I have enjoyed most of his movies except , the one where he was the creepy cop living next door. I can’t even remember the name of that one. I’ll gladly welcome him back to the franchise.

    • I believe the movie you are thinking of is Lakeview Terrace and yeah it was awful

    • Black Snake Moan?

      Gospel Hill?

      Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas?

Changing Lanes, Formula 51? Unbreakable? Deep Blue Sea, Jurassic Park, Jaws 3D?( Eaten by a Shark Eaten by a Dinosaur Eaten by a Shark)
