The first look at gameplay from Star Wars: Battlefront II has leaked online. EA's highly anticipated Battlefront sequel arrives in November and will contain a large number of new features and be three times bigger than its predecessor. It will also include new playable characters from all eras of Star Wars, from Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace to Rey in The Force Awakens.

Though no gameplay footage has been officially released by EA, there have been leaked images and very brief video clips of what to expect from Battlefront II. EA is expected to give fans the official premiere of Battlefront II gameplay footage on Saturday at EA Play in Hollywood - but one intrepid gamer may have just spoiled the big reveal.

YouTube user "Mjolnir" posted a video to his channel on Saturday, revealing the first extended look at actual gameplay from a beta version of Star Wars: Battlefront II. The video was originally created by popular YouTube/Twitch gamer NukemDukem, who says he was invited to EA Play to take part in his own exclusive gameplay. "Mjolnir" comments below the video (presumably in jest) that the video is "definitely not stolen." It shows footage of both Darth Maul and Rey in action, wielding their lightsabers and using their special attacks on unsuspecting enemies. There's also several quick looks at the game's updated menus in-between gameplay.

The gameplay appears to be taking place inside and outside the Theed Royal Palace from the planet Naboo in The Phantom Menace. EA Play is expected to include a massive "Assault on Theed" multiplayer battle, pitting Rey and the light side against Darth Maul and the dark side. The game's playable characters are expected to be allowed to cross over into other eras in all multiplayer formats.

This is undoubtedly exciting footage for Battlefront fans, regardless of where it came from. The graphics look stunning, a clear improvement over its already crisp predecessor, while the prospects of playing as Darth Maul or Rey were compelling enough, but to actually see them in action for the first time will only make the game even more highly anticipated.

Despite the early surprise for Battlefront II fans, the video is also less-than-perfect quality and may not actually do justice to the gameplay that will be officially revealed at EA Play. Also, "Mjolnir" apparently just ruined the same footage announcement that EA and/or NukemDukem were about to reveal on Saturday. But if the comments below the video are any indication, there are many out there who don't mind an early gift.
