A bevy of new details about Star Wars: Battlefront II's multiplayer gameplay have been announced. While Star Wars Celebration 2017 continues rolling in Orlando and streaming around the world, announcements concerning the immensely popular sci-fi franchise are becoming quite frequent (even more than fans have become accustomed to perhaps). And while it was Star Wars: The Last Jedi's time to shine yesterday – with the release of that stunning new poster as well as the film's first teaser trailer – today the attention has shifted ever toward the franchise's popular gaming property, Battlefront.

As the follow-up to 2015's popular action shooter, Battlefront II promises to improve upon its predecessor by polishing existing gameplay as well as adding additional content and features such as the highly coveted single-player campaign. However, that does not mean that Electronic Arts (EA), the series' publisher and developer, will forget about its bread and butter which is, of course, online multiplayer.

Along with the release of a Star Wars Battlefront II'full-length reveal trailer created from within the game's engine, EA has provided fans with even more details via their own website. In addition to information concerning the aforementioned single player campaign, the video game publisher has also served fans a wealth of knowledge concerning new online modes as well as some exciting new images (both of which can be seen just below):

EXPANDED MULTIPLAYER

Join up to 40 players in massive multiplayer fights in authentic locations across all eras. Revel in deep class-based online gameplay, pilot a wide variety of land and air vehicles, and control iconic characters with distinct abilities that can turn the tide of battle.

The big reveal from this is the multiple eras, allowing players to fight in a wide range of conflicts - The Clone Wars, the Galactic Civil War and the battles of the sequels - in contrast to the original game, which only featured original trilogy combat. That said, there are some more surprising additions; split-screen co-op is a particularly nice one, allowing people to play together offline, a function not seen in the games for well over a decade.

Fans of the franchise have a good seven months to wait, however, as the announcement also brought with it a release date: November 17, 2017. For those who simply cannot wait, the game can be obtained even earlier than that; those who pre-order the Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition will get to play the game three days earlier, and EA Access and Origin Access Members with the Play First Trial will get access the title an entire week before its official release date (November 9th).

Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC worldwide November 17, 2017.
