Keri Russell's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker character is described as an old friend of Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac). The ninth Star Wars film is coming out at the end of the year and slowly but surely, details on the movie are starting to be released. Since The Rise of Skywalker will mark the end of the Skywalker Saga, a few characters' story arcs will be completed, but the film is still introducing new characters to the Star Wars universe.

After this year's Star Wars celebration, more information about the film was revealed, but there still isn't a whole lot known about Russell's character. Russell was cast in The Rise of Skywalker last July, but it wasn't until Vanity Fair's cover story of The Rise of Skywalker that details about her role started to be announced. Russell is playing a character named Zorri Bliss, who is described as a rogue and shares similarities with Benicio del Toro's character from Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Zorri Bliss' costume was also revealed during the story, but now new information has been announced.

At the D23 Walt Disney Studios panel, it was announced that Bliss will be an old friend of Poe's in The Rise of Skywalker. When discussing her character with the attendees of the panel, Russell described her character as being "shady" as well as being a "criminal" with a sense of humor. During the panel, Finn actor John Boyega was also jokingly upset when it was revealed that Zorri is an old friend of Poe's.

While The Rise of Skywalker is introducing several new characters to the Star Wars universe, there will also be several returning characters from previous Star Wars films. Rey, Finn, and Poe will, of course, all return in the sequel, but Lando Calrissian will also return, making this Billy Dee Williams first appearance in a live-action Star Wars film since 1983. At the end of The Rise of Skywalker trailer, Emperor Palpatine’s laugh could be heard and it was soon after revealed that Ian McDiarmid would reprise his role as Sheev Palpatine.

Despite the panel not revealing a ton of information about Zorri Bliss, this is the biggest nugget of information fans have gotten thus far. Making her a friend of Poe's could mean that Zorri was at one point part of the Resistance. If the fan-fiction about a Poe and Finn relationship turns out to be true in Episode IX, then Boyega's reaction to the description of Zorri could also point to Russell's character being a former lover of Poe's. This update on Zorri Bliss may not give away anything huge in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but more information will surely be revealed once the film gets closer to being released.
