John Boyega is teasing a war to end all wars when Star Wars: Episode IX rolls around. As one of the many new faces in the Star Wars universe, Boyega has been part of the franchise's revival on the big screen. Starting with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, his role as FN-2187 (or Finn) put him in position to be a important piece in the new trilogy. Even though we've yet to even see how his arc continues in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, some of the Star Wars community is already looking ahead to Episode IX.

Episode IX has gone through some major changes recently with director Colin Trevorrow leaving the project, only for J.J. Abrams to come back to the franchise. With the film's release date pushed and Abrams working on a new script with Chris Terrio, not much may be set in stone right now. But, that doesn't mean Boyega doesn't have ideas for where things are going to go.

ComingSoon spoke to Boyega at New York Comic Con about the closing chapter of the Star Wars trilogy, and he teased that big things are ahead. Without knowing how The Last Jedi ends, we may have to wait to figure out what exactly Boyega is saying here, but it sounds as though things will only get bigger and an all-out war is on the horizon:

I think what’s fantastic is it feels like it’s coming back full circle. I don’t know nothing about the script, the story. I don’t know where Finn’s going, I don’t know where Rey is going, but definitely I feel this is the war to end all wars in this movie. I’m interested to know how he will handle that. I’m asking so many questions and I haven’t had a chance to kinda sit down and write J.J. a message just to say congratulations and I’m stoked. My fixation now is that he needs to get some SLEEP and GEAR UP because we’re doing another one of these movies, mate! But I think he’s gonna do a great job, as always. He’s J.J.

The new trilogy that Abrams kicked off established a new war that was brewing across the galaxy, and if Boyega is correct with his feelings, then Abrams may be looking to show the final clash. Since everyone not involved with The Last Jedi has no idea where it will leave the franchise, what state this war will be in is unclear. However, things will inevitably be different with The Resistance losing its leader now that Carrie Fisher has passed, while it could be time for Snoke to step out of the shadows and bring The First Order to prominence.

These rough story details are probably not coming directly from Abrams, but Boyega at least knows what happens in The Last Jedi and what it leads to. Does this mean that the film ends with control for the galaxy hanging in the balance? Possibly, and it is only natural that the biggest parts of this war will be fought at the end. This will inevitably draw comparisons to Return of the Jedi and the conclusion of the Rebels' battle with The Empire - but after the criticisms Abrams received for The Force Awakens, he will hopefully add more new pieces to this puzzle this time.
