A brand new report states that the long-awaited full, theatrical trailer for Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi will finally be released by Lucasfilm and Disney in early October. Anticipation surrounding the latest installment in the Star Wars saga has been reaching new levels in recent weeks, with the release of new images from the film and hype-inducing teases from The Last Jedi cast members. To the credit of both Disney and Lucasfilm, the studios have done a good job at keeping positivity up in their promotion for The Last Jedi, even while working through the Young Han Solo production overhauls and Episode IX director changes.

It's even more impressive how consistently Disney and Lucasfilm have been able to promote The Last Jedi over the past few months, considering that very little has actually been seen from the film up until this point. Since the first Last Jedi trailer premiered at this year's Star Wars Celebration Orlando back in April, no real new footage or trailers from the film have been released. Fortunately, it's looking more and more likely that fans are closer to getting that second Last Jedi trailer they've been asking for, very soon.

Star Wars News Net revealed on Twitter today that, according to a longtime and trusted source of theirs, the second trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released on Monday, October 9th. The tweet in question, however, does not specify how Disney and Lucasfilm will be unveiling the new trailer or why October 9th is the chosen premiere date. You can check out the tweet for yourself down below:

We confirmed with a long time source that #TheLastJedi trailer is indeed coming on October 9. Mark your calendars. Only 2 weeks to go!!! :) pic.twitter.com/9CeCpIlQFI— SWNN (@StarWarsNewsNet) September 26, 2017

Make sure to take all of this with a grain of salt for the time being, of course, since there has been no official confirmation or even hinting by Disney and Lucasfilm about a new Last Jedi trailer being released on October 9th. But for what it's worth, Mark Hamill did recently say the second Last Jedi trailer would be released on that same day during Monday Night Football. It's possible this is merely a coincidence, although it's one that does bring some validity to both Hamill and SWNN's claims.

Similar to how The Force Awakens' marketing campaign managed to avoid spoiling a majority of the film, Disney and Lucasfilm have so far been able to keep up promotion for The Last Jedi without revealing anything to spoiler-y from its plot or scenes. All of this is to say, there's no telling how much or what will be revealed in this second Last Jedi trailer (should it indeed premiere on October 9th). But with only a few more months to go until the film is finally released theatrically, it will likely have to generate the last big boost in anticipation for Disney and Lucasfilm entering into this final promotional stretch. That's true even with both Mark Hamill and Rian Johnson urging fans to avoid any future marketing materials or trailers from the film, for those who want to avoid as many spoilers and plot details as possible.
