John Boyega's Finn will cross paths with Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) again in Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi. The news comes just a few months after this year's Star Wars Celebration Orlando, which at the time had offered fans their first real look at The Last Jedi with a teaser trailer. However, while the first teaser for Episode VIII did a good job at selling its tone and the trajectory of many of the film's main characters, it was unsurprisingly light on concrete plot or story details. Ever since then, of course, small details have been leaking out gradually from the project, some of which have helped to bring the full story of the film to light.

However, very little is still known about where and what many of the characters will be doing in The Last Jedi, including and specifically, John Boyega's Finn, who was left beaten and in critical condition following his confrontation with Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) at the end of The Force Awakens. But it looks like when Finn does wake up in The Last Jedi, he'll come into contact again with one of his few remaining, old enemies from his time in The First Order, and it's someone who likely has a target planted firmly on him.

Boyega briefly teased Finn's story in The Last Jedi during today's D23 Expo panel for the film, which also featured the unveiling of a brand new, behind-the-scenes featurette for the film. While everyone was predictably tight-lipped about revealing any spoiler-y details about Episode VIII, Boyega did reveal that the film will see Finn going into battle once again, as he dives into the action of war, and even goes toe-to-toe with none other than Christie's authoritative Captain Phasma.

Captain Phasma's role in The Last Jedi is one of its more mysterious aspects, which is saying something considering just how much of the film has already been shrouded in secrecy up until this point. But after being thrown into a Starkiller Base trash compactor by Finn and Han Solo (Harrison Ford) in The Last Jedi, many fans didn't even know if the character would show up again in The Last Jedi, let alone have a prominent role to play in it.

However, the film's marketing material has featured Phasma rather heavily up until this point, as still one of the key leaders of The First Order, alongside Kylo Ren and Domhnall Gleeson's General Hux. The fact that she'll have some scenes with Finn does bring her role in the story a bit more into perspective, since Finn's role has become increasingly more clear over the past few months, with all signs pointing towards him taking part in an important Resistance mission in the film. It'll be interesting then, to see just how much power and force Phasma exercises in The Last Jedi, especially since so many fans were disappointed by her surprisingly low amount of screen time and importance in The Force Awakens.
