A Canto Bight Police action figure from Star Wars: Star Wars: The Last Jedi has surfaced ahead about three weeks ahead of its street date. The first Star Wars film in 1977 revolutionized the movie industry in many ways, including the way studios market their movies. Star Wars, of course, did so by creating 3 3/4-inch action figures of its main characters like Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo and Darth Vader, and vehicles to place those action figures in for fans to recreate their favorite scenes from the space opera soon followed.

Since then, action figure releases for every new Star Wars film has become commonplace, and in recent years, it's become a cultural event. And with the resurgence of the Star Wars saga in 2015 for The Force Awakens, toymakers like Hasbro, Jakks Pacific and several others have teamed with retailers for Force Friday, a date in September where all new toys and merchandise for the newest film becomes available on store shelves all at once. The box holding each item generally comes with a message like "Do not place on store shelves until ...," but somehow, stock people ignore the printed instructions and the product ends up on shelves early.

That appears to be the case again with the (most likely unintended) leak of a new 3 3/4-inch action figure and vehicle featuring a Canto Bight Police officer and Police Speeder from The Last Jedi. Of all the new settings in the eighth episode of the Skywalker family saga, the casino planet of Canto Bight appears to be getting the most attention, since photos from the production (including shots of the rich denizens of the planet) were released by Vanity Fair in a special look at the film in May.

Thanks to a photo shared by Instagram user A Galaxy Nearby, fans got their first look Sunday at Canto Bight Police Speeder and figure after it reportedly popped up at a Kmart store in Arizona. Action figures usually come with a character description on the back of its packaging, but since that wasn't divulged, it's pretty safe to presume the purpose of the characters is to protect, as director Rian Johnson said in his description of the planet"the playground, basically, for rich a--holes."

Holy crazeballs! Someone just scooped this up in Arizona at a Kmart! #thelastjedi Let's see how long this can be up. @yak_face @jedibiz @jeditemplearchives #starwars #starwars375 #swamigos #newtoys #starwarstoys #starwarstoypix A post shared by AGalaxyNearby (@agalaxynearby) on

How significant a role the Canto Bight Police play in The Last Jedi is yet to be seen. When they amass their forces, will they have a stormtrooper-like presence, or will they have little or no presence in the film, yet get their own peg-warming action figures, a la the virtually non-existent Constable Zuvio from The Force Awakens? For the time being, it looks like a pretty cool action figure, at least, given that the character looks like a cross between a biker scout (from Return of the Jedi) and a First Order officer. The speeder looks equally as impressive, and has the feel of a miniature, open-air TIE Fighter.

No matter how big a role the Canto Bight Police end up playing, it's fun to get a sneak peek at characters from The Last Jedi, just because it amps up the anticipation even more for the film's December 15 release. Of course, barring more missives by department stock personnel, fans won't be able to get their hands on the Canto Bight Police Speeder, the film's single carded action figures or a bevy of other new items until the toys are officially released on Force Friday II, which is set for September 1.
