JJ Abrams’ relaunched Star Trek came out this past weekend and it was met with overwhelmingly positive reviews (like from Screen Rant Owner and Editor-in-Chief Vic Holtreman), and made some big bucks. Yes, we’re a bit behind on bringing you these, but maybe you’ll appreciate them even more after having seen the movie.

First up is an entertainment news story that came out last week from The Onion, in which “Trekkies Bash New Star Trek Film As ‘Fun, Watchable.’” Hmmm, as a Trek fan I have to agree that a few of the films were convoluted and lame (thinking about the odd-numbered films).

Next up is an awesome video of the Death Star vs. the Starship Enterprise! It takes place in San Francisco near the legendary Golden Gate Bridge (shades of Voyage Home?), and features some incredible visual effects! I guess it’s easier to do these effects with shaky camera than in years past.
And here we have Chris Pine (Kirk) and Zachary Quinto (Spock) showed up on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update to try and let hardcore Trek fans know that the movie is fantastic and faithful. I loved seeing two SNLers in the audience as Trekkies–just killed me. And there’s a surprise visit, too.
I do love some great spoof videos, and these are some of the best. We hope you enjoyed them, too! i’ll leave you with the best Trek spoof ever, the infamous one with Captain Kirk himself William Shatner from SNL in 1986.

LOVE the 2 SNL videos! Thanks for sharing those!!!
I’m still having a hard time thinking of Quinto as Spock and not Sylar. LOL.
I’m going to see the movie this week some time, can’t wait! The videos rock! “Get a life!”

get a life? Heath?
Loved the movie, so glad ST goes on, such an inspiration for science and adventure. Vic, you’ve been a lot of fun to tune into this last year or so. I’ll continue to check this site for cool movie news. Cheers!
Get a life! As in, the final William Shatner video I posted up–he told Trekkies to get a life. It was funny and as a comic book/movie geek, it hit close to home for me. But was hilarious!

Gonna have to YouTube those SNL videos. One’s been taken down for copyright infringement and the other’s from hulu (only streams to US).
Hope I live to see the day when information is truly free.
