Iron Man 3  and Star Trek Into Darkness - two of summer 2013′s biggest films – are releasing new posters today, and we’ve rounded them up in one place for your viewing pleasure.

Check out the posters below.

Star Trek Into Darkness Motion Poster

While debate continues to rage about the nature of Benedict Cumberbatch’s villain character in Star Trek Into Darkness, we have a new motion poster for the film that actually mimics the original Into Darkness poster – only in MUCH more cinematic fashion.

Check it out:

The voiceover from Cumberbatch in the motion poster also appeared in the original Star Trek Into Darkness teaser trailer – though what “John Harrison” is returning from, and why he wants revenge on Kirk (Chris Pine) and the Federation remains to be seen; though that mystery  is also often the fuel for rumors that “Harrison” is really a cover alias for original series villains like Gary Mitchell and/or Khan.

J.J. Abrams and his team of writers/collaborators – Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof – are keeping things pretty close to the vest, but the latest Star Trek Into Darkness trailer indicates that plenty of mayhem, destruction (and crashed spaceships) will be inflicted upon Earth by John Harrison. Should be a good time.

Star Trek Into Darkness will be in theaters on May 17, 2013.

Iron Man 3 Poster – Guy Pearce

We recently seen new Iron Man 3 character posters starting to drop; first was an unusual one-sheet showing Tony Stark falling from the heavens wearing some beat-up new armor; after that came Don Cheadle as Rhodey, sporting the new Iron Patriot-colored War Machine armor.

Today we have a new poster that’s a little surprising (read: a bit random). The poster in question depicts actor Guy Pearce’s character, Aldrich Killian.

For those who don’t know, Killian was a scientist who was introduced in writer Warren Ellis and artist Adi Granov’s “Extremis” storyline – which is one of the big comic book influences director Shane Black is drawing from. Killian is one half of the team that develops the Extremis nanotech virus, alongside Dr. Maya Hansen (played in the film by Rebecca Hall). Killian’s intentions were… less than noble in the comic book, and given Pearce’s swagger and the small tidbits we’ve seen (or heard through rumor), it seems the movie version of Killian will be even more nefarious.

Next up: Hopefully a poster of Ben Kingsley’s Mandarin?

  1. hmmm interesting, em I am hoping for images of the NEw Firepower And Coldblood, though Mandarin wouldn’t be bad either. And I am still wondering what the true new iron man armor will look like(I have a feeling extremis will be destroyed, and space armor doesnt count :p

  2. is that the highest quality of the motion poster? kinda pixelated.

  3. I am just not an Iron man guy but the Star Trek thing was cool.

  4. The graphics on that star trek motion poster looked like an advertisement for an 8-bit video game.

  5. colonel Green

    • Wasn’t Colonel Green too early to be in Kirk’s time line?

  6. I really really want this answered. Will star trek into darkness play 15/70 true imax in 2d or not?
Can ScreenRant find out some official information? I don’t see what the hell was the point of using true imax camera for about 40 min, if they weren’t even gonna play in true imax theater…

  7. I can’t shake the suspicion that Pearce isn’t really Killian. Maybe Marvel is throwing us a curve ball and he is really Pym aka Ant-Man setting him up for his 2015 movie

  8. Never understood the big deal about Cumberbatch. Seems like he only got big because a bunch of nerdy chicks found him attractive and tried to force him down everyone’s throats…

    • Nerdy chicks. Nah! Not just the Cumberbitches. The Geek God (JJ Abrams, come on, admit it) is effing enamored by the guy. Peter Jackson (a minor deity), is enamored by the guy.

Entirely different from the Sam Worthington-hype!

    • He is fantastic in Sherlock.

  9. I’ve seen better motion posters, ones that actually had some effort put into them

    • I really liked The Wolverine one

  10. Well, if Guy Pierce is already dipping his toes in the Marvel universe, I guess it’s too late to imagine him as the new Batman in Justice League. I always thought he could handle the look or gravitas (as you will) of Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman.

    • *Sorry, “Pearce” not “Pierce”

  11. I don’t have the attention span for a poster that doesn’t move and talk to me.

It’s like I don’t have time to watch Spock get set-up as a strictly logical guy for 30 episodes before he punches a kid, and makes out with Uhura, and beats up Kirk. I need the emotional pay-off of those outbursts right away. I don’t care if it’s impossible for those things to matter because the character is a total stranger to the audience.

Same with Sherlock getting Irene Adler and his archenemy six stories into the series. Who cares about proving he’s a loner, or of a high calibre mind, who can only blah blah blah. Just give me the fireworks without the boring build up.

I don’t really enjoy these shows. I need them to be over quickly so I can forget them quickly and get on to the next ones. In fact, maybe from now on I’ll just look at posters. That would save time. Just as long as they’re geeky.

    • Well, I see you have no respect for story. Just eye candy.
