OMG..!! Star Trek sequel..!!
First I will start saying(with all my respect to you all real and truly heart fans of StarTrek)…
I’m not a trekker or trekkie fan..I even not know about this franchise of Star Trek.. too I didn’t watch this film in a movie theater…but just before the week of Nov 17th I started seeing DVD’s sale promos on tv and I started to be curious about this movie; so I rented and Wooooowwwwwwwww I love it..!! Awesome movie..!! also that Day on Nov 17th I went to Target and I bought the 2 special Disc/Digital copy….and I just keep watching this film over and over again I really love it..!! I love all this movie have even I do love and enjoy the Audio commentary,Deleted scenes ,Gag Reel.!!! OMG definitely favorite movie of all time…!!

I don’t think Spock ever said time travel was impossible. T’Pol did, so maybe that’s who you were thinking about.

I like the Gorn and The Doomsday Machine ideas, if they go the old idea route. The only time we saw the Breen was in DS9, so maybe they can be the antagonists.

Yes, I have said the same thing about Khan; in my version, the Klingons find the Botany Bay and are taken over by Khan. Khan becomes the emperor of the empire and a new galactic war is started with the Romulans. The Romulans are on the verge of defeat and ask the Federation for help. After Khan is defeated, a new peace between Romulus and the Federation ensues but does not last very long. With the Klingons and Romulans involved, this could be a great movie…..as long as I get my cut.

Hey 790; Guess I’m just looking at it from a negative point of view. It certainly could become a running under tone to all the future movies. I hope they keep Spock tight lipped about what he knows. Just think what Bones is gonna say when they get into a jam together?! Since the initial conditions for that universe’s characters has changed from the one we’ve been shown all these years to something different, then maybe nothing Spock knows from the Alt-universe is relevant. This can delve into the Maud’Dib scenario… What if you knew everything you were going to do from this point on till you die? Your life now becomes instant replay, an utter bore. Everyone assumes prescience would be just some window to look into the future. What if it’s like looking down into a canyon with as powerful a pair of binoculars as you’d need to see every detail?

If they use an “old” villian….this would be “new” to Kirk…..and would hopefully apease the die hards. ( who really would not freely admit they thought this first film kicked butt!) I just care about one thing….I WANT MORE LENS FLARES!!!!!!

A DOOMSDAY story line but with more ships in the fray, or a Balance of terror type story but usin the Klingons in a Blitz type attack on the Federation or my least fav a Mirror Mirror type (even though this Trek is in a diff time line). Just some ideals to throw out!!

Old Man that’s actually one thing I think they unexpectedly got right. As Spock met his older self and learned of future events, Kirk I’m sure would find out and this fits in with why Kirk always asked Spock what was up, like he had a special insight (in the Original Series.)

A great question has already come out of this. How much have the Spock’s shared? Would the Captain become too reliant on that alternate history? Especially if they do run into any similar situations. Probably the worst thing that could happen in that scenario is that a crisis comes up and the alternate universe solution is used and it works. Of course it would add an extra dimension to the situation.

It’s equally probable that the same solution may not work because some variables are different. How much does Star fleet know too? The group dynamic of the crew can get shot to pieces with the shadow of this hanging over the show.

Kahn? who cares the only thing that will impress me at this point is something totally original.
Reading the comments of Orci, Kurtzman an Abrams they don’t seem to have clue on the direction of the second film.
Guys, don’t let the blogosphere influence you, come up with something NEW!!!!!

Oh and if the films in 3D I’ll wait for the dvd,,,,, used,,,,

Star Trek II was great for a number of reasons, but the main one was the vengence storyline.

In order for that to work you have to have the same events take place as before, they meet up with Khan, Khan trys to take over the Enterprise, Kirk strands them on a planet, Khan’s wife dies, and then 15 years goes by. A important part of ST:II was Kirk getting older and dealing with how his life turned out.

My point is now Kirk is 20-something years old and the same sort of great Khan conflict doesn’t exist. Not sure how you could draw one up without the backstory.

My vote for an old episode that would get the big screen treatment – The Doomsday Machine episdoe. Take that old school episode and merge it with some of the concepts of the Peter David Star Trek novel Vendettta and that’s a great film.

Agreed, Andy S: they’ve got a whole new universe to play with; why muck about with Khan at all? Interesting idea about the Gorn: there’s an established belligerent species that hasn’t been explored outside of TOS and Enterprise.

Ah, but John, what if some OTHER ship in this alternate universe, one that has had NO contact with the future Spock, finds the Botany Bay? Say an Andorian or Tellerite ship finds them? They could unleash Kahn on the universe and leave it to Kirk and co. to clean up the mess.

Personally though, I hope they stay away from the Kahn storyline. No need to rehash storylines from TOS. I’d also like to see a kick-azz movie with the Gorn in it. Now THAT would be awesome.

A Khan movie would be too short:

Sulu: Captain…sensors have located a ship near the Neutral Zone.

Spock: Scanning….The ship is the SS Botany Bay.

Kirk: Didn’t the future Spock say something about a ship with that name?

Spock: Affirmative. We are to not board the ship nor tractor it. In fact, my furture counterpart claims it should be destroyed immediately.

Kirk: Good enough for me. Mr. Sulu, target that ship with phasers and fire.

PLEASE NO HEAVY HANDED HUFFINGTON POST LIBERAL SLANTED POLITICAL ALEGORY.

1. REAL (non wussy TNG ERA TREK with SHATNER, NIMOY and that SISCO GUY) was much much more moderate. Actually rather conservative about Military issues. WHY? The guys who created and wrote the original stories fought in WWII (for alot of you that’s the fun XBOX game World at WAR) they lived the real horrors and adventure of the War. Gene Roddenberry was a B-17 Pilot. Gene Coon was I believe a Marine at Okinawa. This generation’s writers lived through the thrill and danger of the Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks and problems typing on their BlackberryStorm touch screens. No pansy anti-war perspective please. It will tank the newly restored franchise.

2. Most of the nation wants Guantanimo to stay open. Real, not the Greenwich villiage Eastern European anarchist pseudo-itellectual socialists, with families do not want terrorists bunking in local prisons. Sorry but that is the reality and impartial (not conducted by shills for either side merit this out)

I am super-excited about this film, 3-D would be cool but isn’t necessary. As far as villains, I don’t think they can ignore the entire Klingon conflict that the original series was very straightforward about. Forget the next generation stuff, this film theoretically takes place before TOS and in an alternate universe. That being said, it wouldn’t be bad to set up a sequel to this one within it. Perhaps have a brief scene in this film introducing Kahn? Then they could totally have an alternate timeline Kirk v. Kahn and my head would explode. Think about that. A revenge story, a vendetta so deep, it spans universes and alternate timelines. That would be wicked.

WAY OT: @Shari Brock: I had no idea anyone so sexy was on Screenrant. I clicked your image accidentally while scrolling down the screen and could not help but be impressed. Definitely the most attractive person on the site(other than Vic, that handsome devil.)
