  2. I should note that I was VERY sick when we recorded this.

    • Is that why you went crazy and said reboot was better than tron.

      • Ha! +1

  3. 1 – The Hobbit
2 – Rise of The Guardians
    3 – Skyfall
    4 – Lincoln
    5 – Life of Pi
    10 – Red Dawn

  4. Box office battle

    2. Skyfall
    3. Rise of the guardians
    4. twlight breaking dawn part 2
    5. Lincoln
    10 killing them softly

  5. Hahah, Ben’s ‘For sure’s get REAL when talking about scary stuff – ‘For ABSOLUTELY sure’. Consider that stolen.

    • I for absolutely sure approve of your theft.

  6. The only thing that suck about Breaking Bad hiatus is the waiting, the same with TWD, I dont care they split it, I´ll alwsys want more Breaking Bad;I dont care if the put the Final Season while promoting it…I understand Rob´s point though.

    • It’s just a weird middle-ground. Seasons used to be defined by years, now it seems like they’re defined a bit more by how to market a TV show…

I don’t really mind hot it is being done but it is kind of confusing/awkward to have seasons that are broken up and debuting in different years.

  7. I am super psyched for Star Trek Into Darkness! I loved the first one and can’t wait for this! I still believe Cumberbatch is playing Gary Mitchell or perhaps a older more crazy Charlie X. As for Jaimie Fox as Electro, I don’t mind. Electro is’nt that big of a character so race does’nt matter in this instance. But I’m really pumped for fresher versions of Harry Osborne and Mary Jane. I absolutely loved the first two Spiderman movies. Spiderman 2 is my second favorite comic book movie of all time. But I think Amazing Spiderman was better from a character standpoint. As for Tron 3, meh. I’m not big into Tron but I did enjoy Tron Legacy.
    Box Office Battle
    1.The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
    2.Skyfall
    3.Rise of the Guardians
4.The Twilight Saga Breakig Dawn Part II
    5.Lincoln
    10.Red Dawn

    • Charlie X would be interesting too. I still think it’s a version of Khan but we’ll see…

  8. I don’t know if this counts but I think I could live through an Alien movie. All I would need is a Predator by my side and I’ll be fine. Any situation that you face thats all you would need is a Predator. Predator can solve anything.

    • There should definitely be more (Insert Movie Monster) vs. Predator films. Imagine the possibilities!

  9. Another good podcast.

This time Rob’s vocal was fixed, but Ben’s vocal was buried. You guys need to run this through a compression program to equalize the volumes.

And FYI – My favorite classic scary movie is The Haunting. A very creepy B&W British produced psychological horror film made in 1963. It was remade in 1999…… which was terrible. Watch the original with the lights out. I dare you.

    • We actually do run them through Levelator. It may be, this time, that Vactor and I combined our audio – he had to leave midway through. I noticed that I sound a lot quieter in the second half.

  10. I really hated the first Star Trek reboot movie – it was the Prometheus of Star Trek (really bad!). The newest one looks more promising so I can hope!

    • Whoa Whoa Whoa…Whoa. Don’t mean to hate on your opinion or anything but what did you hate about it friend? I thought it was amazing.

      • 1) A black hole sent the Romulans back through time. Sure Star Trek is science fiction but the world is grounded in rules for it’s fiction and often introduces theoretical fact.
        2) “My name is James Tiberius Kirk!” this is from the trailer and makes me groan every time. I wish they had cut it.
        3) Cheesy over-the-top action scenes
        4) Boring villain – reminded me of the villain in Star Trek:Nemesis but not nearly as intriguing.

I’m sure I can think of other things wrong with the movie but I’ve only seen it once. I felt similar after seeing “Starship Troopers”. This Star Trek movie has that little respect for the past work that inspired it.

      • I love both Prometheus and the Star Trek reboot, but both have the same problem: they look gorgeous, they have great actors, they have fantastic music and they ooze atmosphere left and right, but the stories for both movies are extremely lackluster and show an utter lack of research of even just general knowledge/education.

A supernova that threatend to destroy the galaxy? Really? Considering that there are about two supernovae per century in our galaxy it’s surprising that Earth existed long enough to develop intelligent life, let alone warp travel in the Star Trek reboot universe. No star in our galaxy or any other has the destructive power to put even a dent in our galaxy, let alone obliterate it. And don’t get me started on the contrived way of how Kirk meets the old Spock. What happened to the brig on the Enterprise? They had to eject him onto a dangerous ice moon for disagreeing with Spock, where he just happened to stumble on the old one? Really?!

But having said that: I love that movie for he blockbustery awesomeness and the wonderful character moments with fitting humour. Under these circumstances I can ignore the gaping plotholes that could swallow up our solar system

      • I mean to hate his opinion, movie was great.

  11. Rabid sprinting ones zombies would be the worst. I’d die from fear and stress alone.

    But another fun podcast! :)

    • You and me both. That said, if it happens… I have a plan.

Step 1: Meet me in the Mojave Desert.

  12. Man I love this podcast!! Freaking awesome! The highlight of my drive to my terrible job hahah

Anyway excited for tron 3. Olivia Wilde is one of my favorites and tron 2 was cool not great but one of my favorite movies.

Not a huge Star Trek fan but I did very muchly enjoy the 2009 reboot! So te new teaser is pretty awesome and cool! I’m stoked for it. Not as much as man of steel and Thor 2 but excited.

And for spiderman I can’t wait! I’m hoping that the Mary Jane casting gets changed cuz I’m not a fan of woodly. But the Harry casting is awesome! He can definelty take harry to a dark sadistic place. Hopefully the hobgoblin. And electro is brilliant. Fox is a very awesome actor and I think he will bring a fresh take to the super villian role.

    Box office battle
    1. The hobbit
    2. Sky fall
    3 rise of the guardians
    4. Twilight breaking dawn
    5. Lincoln
    10. Red dawn

    • Thanks! Glad you’re enjoying it still!

We’ve all got our fingers crossed for the Hobgoblin at some point but… I hope it’s not for awhile and that, when they do it, they have a fresh take. 2/4 Spider-Man movies have featured a character like that now.

  13. Anthony was on fire this time! He had me in stitches with some of his remarks. The best part was his plan to ward of ghosts by peeing the kitchen sink. I couldn’t stop laughing. :D

    • At first I thought he was just being gross and then I was like… that’s pretty smart.

  14. 1. The quality of the podcasts dips exponenetially when I’m away. True story.
    2. Ben K is still trying to cover the racist nature of that Black Bond podcast.
    3. Rob K is dead wrong. “Miami Vice” is a great film for a number of reasons and Jamie Foxx is pretty great in it.
    4. Nobody is copping to the fact that the ‘Star Trek 2′ trailer is flashy, but not all that enticing. What is the actual “Hook” we’re meant to be drawn in by? That Nolan rip-off trailer?

I’ll elaborate on the 2nd half of the ‘cast later.

  15. Nevermind. Ant Called out that trailer.

  16. 1. The Hobbit
    2. Rise of the Guardians
    3. Skyfall
    4. Lincoln
    5. Twilight
    10. Red Dawn

You don’t think that Avatar will become a classic? Yes the storyline is not very strong, but for visuals alone I think it will be remembered for years to come. After all it is the highest grossing movie of all time and completely changed the film industry as we know it.

    • I could see that – but I wonder if being the first great 3D experience will matter as much (given the the thin story) when all-around better ones show up over time.

It’ll also HIGHLY depend on the sequels I think – which could make or somewhat taint the film’s legacy.

That said, plenty of classic movies have terrible sequels.

      • …or prequels
