Stan Lee’s ‘Thor’ Cameo Revealed?

Published 4 years ago by , Updated August 14th, 2013 at 3:37 am,

We’ve known for a long time now that legendary comic book writer, Stan Lee, is going to have a cameo in the upcoming Thor movie, which stars Chris Hemsworth as the titular thunder god. However, we’ve not really known exactly what his cameo will be… but that might have changed today.

According to a fan site called Fanboyweb.com, who have a report from someone on the Thor set, Lee will have a cameo that keeps in tune with his previous Marvel movie appearances, meaning small but memorably humorous. Here’s what the fan site has on Lee’s cameo – but be warned,  it could be considered a SPOILER so if you want to stay in the dark then stop reading now.

We all good? Okay, here’s what Lee’s cameo will supposedly be:

“Thor’s hammer ( Mjolnir ) is found lying inside a crater in the middle of the road by the U.S. Army. The army tries to move it but can’t because it’s too heavy. They decide to bring in a truck for assistance. The soldiers tie Thor’s hammer to the back of the truck with chains. The truck driver accelerates to pull Mjohnir. The back half of the truck falls apart as the front keeps moving. Finally, the camera cuts to the driver who happens to be comic legend Stan Lee.”

It comes as no surprise as it’s become a tradition for Mr. Lee to have small but memorable cameos in Marvel superhero movies. In Iron Man he was “Hugh Hefner”; in The Incredible Hulk he was the man who drank the juice bottle infected with Bruce Banner’s blood; in Spider-Man 2 he was a man dodging some debris… I could go on and on, but I won’t. If you want to know the rest of Lee’s superhero movie cameos you can check out below this nifty compilation video we posted about last year.

Needless to say, no matter what people think of the movies as a whole, most fans love it whenever Mr. Lee pops up in one of these comic book movies. He’ll next have a cameo in Iron Man 2 (where he’ll be playing Larry King) but after that we can look forward to seeing him make a cameo in Thor.

NOTE: Although we know for a fact that Lee WILL have a cameo in Thor, the specific details above may not actually be true – so for now treat it as a RUMOR. But as far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t sound all that unbelievable.

What do you think of Stan Lee’s cameo in Thor? Does it sound like it could be true to you? And if so, is it in keeping with his other cameos?

Thor opens in theaters on May 5th, 2011.

  1. i wonder if he's going to be in IM2 again.

  2. He. He's gonna play as Larry King

  3. Sounds like a perfect Cameo for him. Funny, brief, and story relevant.

  4. yeah it sounds like a pretty funny cameo. I like that Marvel has allowed these cameos to happen. I think its really cool. I was worried in the 90's that Marvel was pushing him to the side seemingly. I dont know. But whatever happened Stan Lee is back in the fold at Marvel comics and is contributing in numerous ways as a producer/advisor and as their Mickey Mouse.. heheheh.. ;) I think its really cool. –

BTW I ALMOST MET HIM!!!!!!! I use to intern at Marvel in the 90's, and Stan Lee came and visited. The Security Guard ran up to me and told me he was upstairs in the other Marvel Floor. He grabbed his comic book and ran. I went to take a bathroom break and — aagghhh long story.. But I totally blew it I was sooo close!!!!!! `sobs`.

  5. how do you know ?

  6. Dude!!!!!!!! O_O
I'm sorry. I don't care how pathetic I look. If I must choose between a potty break and Stan Lee, I'm gonna be pissing myself in a heartbeat to meet that man.

  7. Announced. Plus stated in the article above you.

  8. I completely agree. This is a great little role for The Man.

  9. LMAO!!!!! SO true. Im with you on that Chaos.

  10. Stan: “You Know, I guess some people can make a difference.” Man that has to be Stan's greatest cameo (Even though the movie wasn't that good)

  11. NO NO NO you don't understand!!— I took a “bathroom break” but it wasn't a break. I just used that as an excuse to leave my post and I went looking for Stan Lee!!! lol

But I never got a chance to see him. I was on the floor he was on and I was in the Lobby. There was this giant display of Thor's' hammer and I was lounging for like half hour checking it out! The Secretary must have thought I was on crack. I just was standing around admiring it! Actually I was waiting for Stan Lee to come back out, but damn. He never came out. Probably at some meeting.. The Thor Statue was so cool though… You press a button and it made Lightning sound effects.. It has something written on the front of the display also like a scroll, “Whomever touches this hammer– etc etc.” Ridiculously cool! She probably knew what I was just waiting for Stan Lee.. I gave it my best shot at the expense of looking stupid, but no go. lol

  12. D=> Oh, you poor creature!!! You should have gotten to meet him… I'm sorry that happened to you…

  13. He should have had a cameo in Punisher. . . that would have been a nice little addition. . . and it might have made the movie a little better than what it was!

  14. dude i met him at a universal studios hollywood comic book signing he was nice i was about 16 and he signed my hulk comic i talked to him for about 2 min actuall a cool old dude layded back. i bet he smokes weed he seemed blazed.. and this was back when the firest hulk came out in theatres at Universal they had a huge hulk coming out of the movie theatre at the park

  15. I do love these cameos by Stan and surely no one should begrudge him them.

However some doubt seems to have been placed on the particular cameo suggested above on a variety of different sites
