Stallone Says Dolph Lundgren Is Expendable

4 years ago by Rob Keyes

dolph lundgren Stallone Says Dolph Lundgren Is ExpendableIt was just over two weeks ago when we reported that Sylvester Stallone is making his own badass action flick as a result of his not getting a role in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds (where it was long rumored he’d be the lead). Stallone thought he’d instead just make his own movie about a team of action stars and that’s exactly what he’s doing.

The movie is called The Expendables and the title references what this team of mercenaries is and why they get the missions they do – it also reflects back on a quote from Rambo: First Blood Part II where Rambo says he is “expendable” in reference to why he was chosen.

With the announcement of the film it was also reported that Jason Statham and Jet Li were to star alongside Stallone. Now comes news that Stallone is in talks with Dolph Lundgren to add him to the mix. Dolph Lundgren! This is incredible! All we need is “Ahnuld,” Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris and JVCD in the mix and we have ourselves the 1980s action genre all over again.

I say to you: Is that really too much to ask?

I was already excited about this film just from the initial announcement but adding Dolph to the mix just ups the cool-factor even more. The last time Stallone and Lundgren worked together was back in the 1985 with Rocky IV where Dolph played Rocky’s opponent, Ivan Drago.

This news comes from a brief interview with Stallone conducted by Review Nation during the red carpet premiere of Transporter 3 and it is not yet confirmed. I don’t see why Dolph would say no though so I’m pretty confident it’ll happen.

What do you think of Dolph being a part of the team? Are you excited for this movie like me?

The Expendables is still being written by Stallone and is expected to come out some time in 2010.

I love this idea. I know you said this tongue-in-cheek but I think Chuck Norris would be awesome to have in this as well.

I love this. Rambo and He-Man, Rocky and… that Russian bloke he fought.

Every time I hear about IBs I just shrug. This, though, has me going already. I can’t wait!

YES! This is great, Dolph is so underrated and could have been the biggest star!
Add to the list with Arnold, Bruce & JCVD…Michael Jai White, another underrated actor, and Bolo Yeung!

I’ve been dreaming of just such a film for years now. With good vs. evil action stars.
Just think, Chuck, Clint and stalone on one side and Segal, Arnold and V. Jones on ther other. Of course having Chuck die in the middle of the movie and a mucho grande showdown at the end.
Surely there should be four times as many hollywood cliches than the ones I’ve just mentioned and Lundgren should of course be in the mix.
If Stalone makes this movie, he should go all out, so it becomes memerable and goes down in history!

    This does sound good.

By the way, here’s a fun fact:
Every night, before he goes to sleep, the Boogeyman checks his closet for Chuck Norris!

You wouldn’t believe how many of those I have read. Those are so funny!

After this film they should make a new one with Don “The Dragon” Wilson, Billy Blanks, Cynthia Rothrock, and all of the other, lesser-well-known (but who can kick butt no less) martial arts stars of the 80′s and 90′s. And, of course…Bolo Yeung will be one of the bad guys.

Excellent, hope this movie comes together. If Sly could also get the following: Segal, JCVD, and Carl Weathers(Apollo Creed) or Wesley Snipes…FYI: invest in duct tape because I PROMISE YOU, 80′s genre males’ heads around the world would EXPLODE at first glimce of a teaser. :D

The Arnold should make a cameo as President of the US.

This may have the makings to be a cool movie, however I still maintain that Slyvester Stallone is an idiot, incapable of branching his acting abillities to play anything other than Rocky or Rambo.

Love the idea of Arnie doing a cameo.

Love the other names coming up too. Maybe Kurt Russell and Michael Biehn as well. Please!

Chuck Norris would never die, he just ascends to a higher plain so he can round-kick baddies from the heavens :)

Oh yeah, don’t forget mister split; Jean Claude Van Damn he’s corny.
Hey, I have an idea. Let’s come up with a plot, story line and roll list and send it in to Sly and see what he thinks. :)

I only wish they could add Carl Weathers and Arnold Schewartoeieaigksrpgrsfer to this flick. Then you could have the ultra-manly handshake from Predator all over again.

this is probably going to be one of the coolest movies ever!! if anyone has bad stuff to suggest about this film then they did not grow up in the 80′s and dont know what good action movies are.

Dolph Lundgren would make the movie with other martial arts actor Daniel Bernhardt
in another action flick after if he finishes the movie with Stallone in The Expendables.
I think that would be good idea if Lundgren and Bernhardt to team fighting against each other,I saw Bernhardt fighting against Chuck Norris in The Cutter.
    Thank You.
