…….sigh

Wickamo says:

Ok…stupid mock trailer aside. The actually trailer for the movie looks awesome. I think everyone who knows anything about the 2012 thing pretty much expects this to be a disaster movie, so……yeah…the more scenes of chaos and mayhem the better. That’s pretty much what seeing a disaster movie is all about.

Joshi says:

To hell with it, now, because of a mock trailer that has no affiliation with the movie, I’m going to go see this movie.

Stephen says:

Best trailer of the year right there hahahahahahahaha

greenknight333 says:

Love the 70’s music playing throughout..It reminded me of CHIPS…CHeesy..

790 says:

Yeah it will make millions… Eat it up yum,,,

Then later people will complain that movies have lost there magic and 2012 isn’t getting high marks on RottenTomatoes,,yawn,,,???

Rinse repeat,,,
I predict after this Emmerich will do a sequel to Independance Day.
Were really living la Vida Loca cinematically these days……….

Marvel-Freshman says:

What is so ridiculous about a black president, that’s my only question.

shehryar says:

it was meant to be ironic because its actually true

@Marvel-Freshman

What shehryar said: It was a joke BECAUSE we have a black President.

OMG a disaster movie with lots of disaster? How dare they.

I thought the video was just really dumb. I’m not overly excited for 2012 it looks sort of ok I’m just gonna hope that it’s good though because Cusack is in it and I’ll march off a cliff if he was in a movie at the bottom.

Sock Monkey says:

Hahaha, good video. Regardless of whether or not you like the movie, it’s still a riot when you think about the multitude of disaster movies: Armageddon, The Core, Deep Impact, (all that’s mentioned in the Ross’ post) The Day the Earth Stood still, the list keeps on going, and is on-going. All of which are blatant disaster movies, so this video is noting the clichés in disaster movies that we all see so often.

On another note, I have to say that I’m just about as interested in 2012 as I was for every other disaster movie that’s come out recently. So this will probably just be a rental for me.

Gotta say, I think this is probably the funniest SR Pick we’ve done to date. :)

Zipper Stevens says:

You know, that makes me want to see the movie… Special effects were good back in 1974. :D

Crippa says:

Wonderful video, totally captures that cheesy 70’s disaster movie feeling. And yes, I want disaster!

Ken J says:

Alright, had to see what all of the ruckus is all about so I looked this up on youtube from my phone since it’s blocked on this stupid computer. And all I have to say is…

LMAO!! Jumbo Jet Surfing? It Can Happen!

Mike E. says:

My god, ranting about 2012 and its is like complaining that teens got horribly mutilated and killed in a slasher flick, that the cute perky blonde got her man at the end of that romantic comedy, that the hero got UP after surviving a myriad near-lethal blows by well-armed thugs in the action blockbuster, that the latest Disney film has a moral and that the main character has an annoying side-kick, that… heck, you get where this is going?

2012 is a disaster movie!
I HOPE it demolishes famous landmarks and ends up destroying “the world as we know it”.
That’s the whole POINT of a disaster epic!

NOTHING peeves me more than going to a supposed “disaster movie” where the hero (with the aide of his trusty-albeit-clumsy-except-when-it-really-counts side-kick and his buxom new-found love interest) saves the day just in the nick of time and all the glorious mayhem is averted.

The Core had so much promise! It was cheesy, it was campy, it took itself WAY too seriously! It was a hoot… but it wasn’t EPIC enough in the disaster department! I wanted MORE mayhem!

I want people to be saved JUUUST in the nick of time… only to have a BUILDING FALL ON THEM. I want the protagonist to discover a mysterious scientific formula that will save the world… except it’s written in a dead language that no one speaks or reads anymore.

Hey! I’m an optimist, what do you want!

Mike E. says:

P.S. that first line was supposed to read as follows:

My god, ranting about 2012 and its [insert perceived inadequacies here] is like complaining etc…
