This is one of those ideas I’d say is very bad but at the same time, it’s pretty damn cool.
Everett Bradford put up a YouTube video to demonstrate what he calls “The Prometheus Device” and since then, it’s been popping up on geek and tech sites all over the web.
The device emulates what we see from the character of Pyro in X-Men 3: The Last Stand, sans his power to manipulate the fire once launching it out of his palm. Check out the demo video for the neat-but-incredibly-dangerous device below.

I’m impressed by both the device, its functionality and the bravery of its user, Mr. Bradford. I expect this dude will easily get a job with this spreading all over the net like wild fire. Get it?
This video went up on Monday and he promises a follow-up to go through the components and its construction so if you’re interested in how it was made, check his YouTube channel in the coming days.

someone already made this same thing after iron man… this guy doesn’t deserve the credit for being the first at all..

Speaking of X-Men, I just found out Brett Ratner is coming to my campus to talk! If I get there early enough (which I will), I will be able to ask him one question (and maybe get an autograph).

as cool as it is i bet the staff will get rid of his video as it teaches kids how to make a harmful weapon

Wow, how much would those cost?
Only 50 to 80 million, barely a movie budget these days. The value of the data they could gather is worth way more than a dozen movies and the Imax films you could make around them would pay for them. The ROI might take more than a couple of years but they are, believe it or not, some of the first steps in a grand plan to conquering the Galaxy…

I relaize the dangers involved here with something like this as I use to work with pyro themed props in the Magic industry. But I gotta say this kid gets serious props for putting something like this together even if it is potentially dangerous. This kind of creative thinking is what will prdocue the next generations great minds. If I were this kids dad I certainly would be worried and tell him so but I also would be as proud as any father can be and you can bet I’d be showing everyone and syaing “thats my kid who built that thing”.
Dude! That’s awesome, I’d inevitably screw up and flame my face right off.
