For some, myself included, movie trailers are part of the movie-going experience. The commercials that precede them are the annoying things, but the trailers (as long as there’s not too many) add to the enjoyment of going to the movies. Of course, following daily movie news means we see trailers online before we do in theaters, which is slightly less affective in my eyes but nonetheless, a well made trailer can essentially decide whether someone will see a movie or not.

For the most part, the best movie in the world isn’t going to get butts in seats if it has a horrible trailer…

Sometimes they can be subtle yet still stay in your mind afterwards (the Little Children trailer comes straight to mind), and sometimes they can be bold and in-your-face, acting as an all-out assault on the senses to make as much of an impression as possible in the short span of the trailer, forcing the film firmly in mind when you turn up to the movie theater.

Today for our Screen Rant Pick, we have a rather nifty and extremely well put together mash-up of 50 trailers of all different types of movies in just under 4 minutes, created by Youtube user “vadoskincheg.” With maybe the exception of a couple, they’re all movies from the last year or so, and should be relatively fresh in your mind if you go to the movies often (and I’m betting you do). The movies range from 2012 to The Stepfather, Pineapple Express to Max Payne, so whatever your tastes, they’re bound to be catered for here :) .

It’s a bit repetitive as it goes in terms of building up, slowing down and then building up again. but you can’t deny it’s well done. Without further ado, check it out and enjoy:

Pretty epic, huh?

Thoughts on the trailer to end all movie trailers?

  1. Man that is some cool trailer, I am a video producer myself so really can appreciate the amount of editing went into it and choosing the right shots for it would have taken ages.

  2. WOW Awsome tralier..kinda difficult it must have been to put 50 movies in it though but it was awsome.

  3. Very cool. Wonder how long it takes to put something like that together? Seems like a TON of work.

    Vic

  4. Just need after effects, and or Final cut to do it. The music is what makes the trailer good.

  5. Thats how it would look if Michael Bay did the trailers to every movie to come out in the past couple of years, which is what he should move on to.

  6. Giggity.

  7. I wonder how much fun it would be to re-cut an action trailer to make it look like a sappy love story trailer and vice-versa?

  8. That…was…AWESOME! lol

  9. That was sweet

  10. Agree with SIN187UM.

It was the music that made it good. No disrespect to the creator, as he’s obviously got talent in the technical aspect of editing, but really this was just a bunch of random action scenes flashing at you with some cool music.

There are other mash-up trailers out there that take clips from different movies and attempt to make a coherent trailer for a “new” movie out of them. Search on Youtube for the Bioshock trailer, for instance. Completely fan-made with nothing but clips from other movies but it still feels like a trailer for a Bioshock flick.

  11. This is cool! I used to do video editing like this and put it on YouTube. Nothing THIS amazing, but this kind of inspires me to try it out. I wonder how he got such good quality video, but all I can say is WOAH! Hahaha but if this was a real movie it’d be awful. It looks like Roland Emerich and Michael Bay worked together to make it. Only thing I wish he had put in it though is Iron Man, Spider-Man, and The Dark Knight. I mean especially TDK and IM! Those were 2 of the biggest movies last year! Now that I think of it though I guess he just wanted stuff from this year, but anyway… This is pretty epic.

  12. Agreed on the music. That music could make a briss look epic.

It was very well done and professional though.

Does anyone know what music was playing at the end credits though? It sounds so familiar, but i can’t place it.

  13. This trailer truly rocks, I loved it. I love watching trailers, and wow! this one was just so amazing. Great compilation, great music, great editing!

  14. I think Skynet has been created and its first victim is my job’s network. I CAN’T WATCH A FRAKKING THING!!! Ok, I am at work and shouldn’t be but there are breaks. Life really sucks! :-)
