Welcome to Screen Rant’s “Geek Picks,” where we collect the finest movie-related geekery from around the web for you. Today you’ll find Avengers shirts, lamps, and swimwear; ideas for a Justice League film; geeky press-on nails; and Robert Downey Jr dressed in Russian military gear. All that and more on this edition of SR’s Geek Picks!
To kick things off, Culture Warrior over at FilmSchoolRejects wrote up a nice piece about what I think is the greatest success of The Avengers, getting all those actors/characters/egos/personalities to form a cohesive bond. The FSR staff also gave us some thoughts on things they liked and disliked about the film. Check them out for some interesting Avengery discussions.
Over at his Whedonesque blog, Avengers writer/director Joss Whedon issued a thank you to all of us who spent money at the theater and made The Avengers such a phenomenal success. Your welcome Joss! And if you’re really interested in that box office success that Joss thanked you for, THR has 5 hidden reasons for The Avengers box office earnings that you might want to peruse.
With all the Avengers success, Marvel has put the pressure on DC to make an amazing Justice League movie. Whatculture has some pretty great ideas for a potential plot, casting and director for the “other” big superhero team. Do you agree with them?

“8bit Avengers” is more like over-sized pixelated crapola. Any 8bit computer or console would have better looking graphics.
“Over-sized pixelated crapola” is the whole point though, surely?
I’m just loving the slump-shouldered, slightly forlorn poses…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnKM5Wso2Nk An actual 8-bit avengers example.
I see what you mean, Eric – it’s the title that needs amending then!
I would guess they were more akin to 4-bit avengers, like Atari 2600 days.
The 2600 is 8-bit, not 4. There were no 4-bit home consoles released.
No, 8bit era graphics weren’t that bad generally. Sure you could make something that crappy if you wanted, but no full-price commercial release would ever make the market that bad.
Here are a few images of The Amazing Spider-Man, from the Commodore 64 version, as examples of what was the general quality of graphics.

As a person that actually still develops games for old 8bit computers, these sort of “blocky crapola junk” that people try to pass off as 8bit graphics these days is just silly.
Love the “feminist-approved” Avengers!!!
HULK SPREAD!
Why are there 6 nails in each row???
Is there something else us men don’t know about women?? Is this a vast conspiracy??
