One of the video games on the long list of film adaptations in development is that of Spy Hunter, a film based on Midway's video game franchise which started in 1983 as an arcade classic and last saw a release in 2006 with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson on the cover.

Modelled after a 1983 Chevrolet Camaro Z28, the real star of the franchise is known as the G-6155 Interceptor, a bad-ass car outfitted with weapons to take out enemy vehicles (rogue agents) while protecting the innocent.

In addition to playing the lead of the last installment in the video game franchise, The Rock was attached to star in the film adaptation with John Woo attached to direct, but that never came to be due to budgetary reasons and now they're no longer involved.

After Paul W.S. Anderson tried to kickstart the franchise for Universal a few years back (he's got a thing for fast cars with weapons: Death Race) we now see Warner Bros. (who acquired Midway games last year) moving forward on the project with Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes) and Roy Lee (Soldiers of Forever) producing and Chad St. John (Sgt. Rock) tapped to pen the script.

I imagine they'll keep the cool concept design of the car as you can see below from the cover of the most recent game in the series (feat. Dwayne Johnson). As for how will star, Sam Worthington's name will pop up in rumors and the film will no doubt come in 3D.
