Icebergify is a new open-source tool that collects data about a user's Spotify listening habits and organizes their favorite artists in a chart that looks like an iceberg. Icebergify, created by developer Akshay Raj, analyses Spotify data about the top 50 artists listened to by a user over one month to several years. It then organizes them by their overall popularity or obscurity. It will show the most popular artists like Eminem or Taylor Swift at the top of the iceberg, while more obscure artists, such as Antichrist Siege Machine or Sunstroke Project, will be placed towards the bottom.

Launched in 2008, Spotify is the world's largest music streaming platform, ahead of Apple Music. The company claims to have 422 million total users, including 182m subscribers, across 183 markets worldwide. Alongside 82 million audio tracks, the platform also offers more than four million podcast titles, including highly controversial ones, such as Joe Rogan Experience. Alongside an ad-supported free tier, Spotify also offers a premium, paid-for level that enables users to access exclusive features, such as improved sound quality, as well as on-demand, offline and ad-free music.

To create a Spotify Iceberg chart, users need to head to the official Icebergify website and hit the 'Create Yours' button. On the next page, log into the Spotify account. Once logged in, users will have to give Icebergify permission to access their Spotify data to create the chart. Once that's done, the site will categorize the artists based on their popularity and display the iceberg chart. To save the so-called 'iceberg' on a PC or Mac, right-click on the image and save it as usual. On a mobile device, press and hold on the image to access the 'Save' option. Once the image is saved on a computer or smartphone, it can be easily shared on social media as any other jpeg image.

Issues With Creating An Iceberg

Spotify Explores Hosting Live Concerts

Some users are complaining about being unable to create their iceberg chats despite giving full access to the website. The developer seemingly acknowledges these issues and advises users to "keep refreshing the site until the iceberg shows up." If that doesn't work after multiple attempts, the developer advises users to clear cookies and site data for icebergify.com and try again. If all else fails, try a different device and see if that works.

According to Icebergify, the popularity rankings of the artists are based on not only the total number of streams but also the number of likes, shares, saves and followers, among other factors. The developer insists that all the artists in someone's iceberg are people they have listened to on Spotify at some stage. Overall, Icebergify is a cool web app and one that any Spotify user can use to check how their favorite artists rank in terms of popularity on the platform.
