Splice, the new film by Vincenzo Natali (Cube) has been the subject of a lot of talk for a long time, especially since it’s been tagged with the header “Guillermo del Toro Presents” – big endorsement for a sci-fi/horror film.
In our last update, we let you know that Warner Bros. and super-producer Joel “The Matrix” Silver were looking to distribute Splice and now we know when the movie will be officially hitting theaters.
Who would’ve guessed that Splice would be entering the blockbuster arena of the Summer 2010 lineup?
That’s right, Splice has been given a June 4th release date by WB, placing it alongside the Ashton Kutcher/Katherine Heigl action-rom-com Killers and the pet-friendly kids film, Marmaduke. Against that sort of competition, I’d say that Splice is being released at exactly the right time for a strong box office showing.
For those not familiar, Splice stars Adrian Brody and Sarah Polley (Dawn of the Dead) as two hot-shot scientists who specialize in gene splicing. After successfully splicing several animal species into a hybrid organism, the pair decide to go a step further and introduce human DNA into the mix. The resulting lifeform may be the next rung in the evolutionary ladder – or humanity’s worst nightmare.

Splice has been buzzed about for so long now I almost have no choice but to see it. The reaction at Sundance was admittedly mixed, but those who liked it really liked it. If you haven’t seen the clips and stills from Splice, you should definitely take a look. Might get your interest up.
As stated, Splice will be in theaters on June 4, 2010.

This looks terrible to be honest. I want to like due to Del Toro being “named” on it but it just doesn't look all that good.
Mat…
Why?
I think it looks great and has a solid background story of man playing god. The two leads are fairly strong and the effects Ive seen are top notch.
That 2nd picture reminds me of a girl I took on a first date to Bennigans back in 1989 – she dribbled food out of her mouth while she yapped on and on – we never had a 2nd date…
Yeah kinda weird her eyes are really too far apart from each other, I hope that's a special CGI effect. Anyway looks weird enough to check out quite different from whats been out lately. Very much level 8, Hangar 15 of 21st Sub-Basement floor level of Area 51.
Umm… humanity’s worst nightmare is… Björk? Sounds about right.
Well it is the mix of animal DNA and Human DNA. The eyes are supposed to look like that.
You should see some of the other pics… freaky.

Saw it at Sundance, don't let anyone fool you, it's not sci-horror, it's sci-comedy. Everyone but the prudes were laughing during the screening at all the “dramatic” and “horrific” parts.
