spider man 4 5 Spider Man 4 Planned For Early March 2010 Start

MTV News had a chance to speak with Sam Raimi today and got him to reveal the planned start date for Spider-Man 4.

The official Spider-Man 4 release date was set way back in March when Marvel Studios pushed back and re-arranged the release schedule for their upcoming films. From reports and speculation, we had an idea that it would start principal photography next spring but now we have an even more precise estimate, thanks to Raimi.

“We’re hoping that it’s the first week in March”

Raimi also touched on the production status of the project, revealing that Gary Ross is currently still working on the script and refers to him as a “great director and a very fine writer.” Great timing for this comment considering this week we found out that Ross will be writing and likely helming the upcoming Venom spin-off solo film.

“He’s working on a draft… I just gave him some notes and he’s doing a rewrite right now.”

As for the casting, Raimi says they’re just beginning to plan and think about that but as we know, two of the leads are back with the role reprisals of Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane and Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker.

Spider-Man, Spider-Man,
Does whatever a spider can
Spins a web, any size,
March 2010 will see him fly
Look Out!
Here comes the Spiderman… again…

We’re just starting to see the ball roll forward with one of the next major superhero flicks. Are you excited for another Spidey adventure led by Sam Raimi?

Raimi says he’s got full control over this one, partly deferring blame for Spider-Man 3. No excuses this time, I want a good Spider-Man movie.

Spider-Man 4 hits theaters May 6, 2011.

  1. What are the villains going to be? this movie is going to be absolutely messed up. This is the problem with poular superheros, well all superheroes are popular, it`s get way out of mind and they use all the wrong villains. I CAN`T BELIEVE THEY HAD TO GO SO CRAZY WITH SPIDERMAN, AFTER PART 3 THEY`RE STILL DOING 2 MORE SPIDERMAN`S, WHY????????????????????????????????????????????

  2. I just hope that they can come up with a better story than that of “Spider-Man 3″. It pretty much relied on the action, and was full of holes.

  3. aND THAT`S ALSO a reason why they ruin all superhero franchises, because it gets out of hand that they hav to make the action rush too fast to make a “great” film. I like seeing a good film too but if they use the wrong villains and make everything happen too fast then it wigs. WHY COULDN`T THIS BE A NORMAL FRANCHISE, WHY COULDN`T THEY JUST LET IT GO WITH VENOM, CASRNAGE, AND LIZARD BEING THE VILLAINS INSTEAD OF ANY ORDINARY VILLAIN TO “BRING THE DIVERSITY OF THE COMICS TO THE SCREEN” THE VILLAINS IN THE LAST ONE WERE VENOM, SANDMAN, AND NEW GOBLIN SO IT WOULD`VE MADE MOST SENSE TO USE THE 2 SYMBIOTES AND LIZARD AND LEAVE THE SERIES ALONE, IF THEY USE ANY ORDINARY VILLAIN IT`S GONNA MESS UP THE MOVIE CUZ NOT THE COLOR OF ALL THE VILLAIN`S FROM THE COMICS CAN MATCH WHAT`S MEANT TO BE IN THE MOVIES, NOW PEOPLE ARE GONNA KEEP SCREAMING OUT RANDOM VILLAINS THEY HAVE HOPE FOR, WHY COULDN`T THIS BE A NORMAL FRANCHISE WHY???????????????????????????????????? I DON`T KNOW WAT TO THINK, IT`S GONNA BE A COMPLETE DISASTER!!!

  4. Well i don`t know what`s gonna be in this movie but i just hope that PLEASE DON`T SHOW ANY SCENE THAT SHOWS SPIDERMAN`S SUPERSTRENGTH AND PLEASE DON`T FOCUS tooo much on spiderman swinging in his costume being spiderman sometimes you have to focus on the other characters to please.

  5. PLEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE JUST MAKE THE MOVIE A LITTLE DARK WITH SOME VIOLENCE OTHER THAN ACTION FIGHTING VIOLENCE IT WON`T MAKE IT A BAD MOVIE BUT THERE`S ONLY FIGHTING VIOLENCE IT`S GONNA SUK PLEASE MAKE THERE BE VIOLENCE FOR TEENAGE FANS OF SPIDERMAN`S INSTEAD OF IT BEING A WIMPY LITTLE KID MOVIE PLEASEEEEEEE??????????????!!

  6. DON`T ERASE THAT COMMENT PLEASE WHOEVER`S CHECKING IT!!!???

  7. I MEAN IT PLEASE DON`T ERASE THAT PLS!!!!

  8. I didn’t have hang ups others did with Spider-Man 3.
I thought it was damn entertaining.

Can’t wait to see the next two films,!

  9. what the hell…? CAPS Lock much?

  10. Interesting Matt as most hate the film for its portrayal of Venom and the Mary Jane factor down to the strut of Parker when he’s under the influence…

What were the holes that bugged you if I may ask,,,? ;-)

  11. One that bugged me was the fact that the Flint Marko became sand in that experiment, but the locket didn’t. A small thing, but I kinda went, “ha! that doesn’t make sense.”

But I can’t think of any large holes to speak of. I have only seen it twice, though

  12. Lol Evan! Good observation I didn’t think about that til now,,, however it can be explained that the gold plating had something to do with it,,,, ?????????
Eh it didn’t bug me,,,, ;-)
    ^
Gigan300,,, sorry bro but I wouldn’t call that a major hole,,,
The films came out years apart but not the storyline. As far as I remember the timeline from SM1 and SM3 was within a year. ;-)

  13. Well fear can make you hesitant, what about that? The butler is human too. :(

  14. The action in “Spider-man 3″ was great, but the story was full of holes.

  15. The butler is a dilsack because he let the situation turn Harry into a revenge machine without telling him the truth as soon as it happened

  16. I think Aaron nailed it,,, 8-O

  17. One major hole would be when Harry’s butler waited until this film to tell him that he cleaned his father’s wound…..after he got a gernade thrown in his face.

  18. @ John K,

I edited a word in each of your comments. Family-friendly atmosphere here, especially from those who don’t provide a real e-mail address, heh.

  19. Good move Rob,,,
I was wondering how long that was going to float,,, :-D

  20. Well, I would.

  21. My biggest problem with S3 was changing Spider-Man’s origin to include the Sandman. Raimi had done a very good job of honoring the books that the movies were based on. But making Sandman the guy that killed Uncle Ben was just asinine.

  22. The ONLY problem with spiderman 3 was how they handled venom, if eddy brock turned into venom at the very end of the movie/after the credits (nick fury aka iron man style) it would have been cool

but they wasted one of the best spidey villains

nevertheless I am looking forward to more and more spidey and hoping for hobgoblin lizard or electro

PS John K, Jeolize and rogers we all know you are the same person, stop taking in caps it just clarifies your stupidity. as does repeating your point of view hundreds of times and using vernacular…. no offense

  23. OK!!! Starting to float from every corners here, let me just start: “Raimi says he`s in full control of this one, partly deffering blame for Spiderman 3.”
Look guys, Spiderman 3 wasn`t the studio`s fault for “not giving Raimi control” – and first of all, they were just pressuring him because of the fans. And second of all, even if Venom wasn`t in the movie Spiderman and Harry “teaming up against Sandman” just wouldn`t work. With all genuiness do to the state of the comics, there are so much varities of concentrics in there that you can`t know which theme properly fits into the movie. Even it is based on the comic, you can`t just spread off the world-wide velocity of the comic book too openly, now to choose the villains that should be in the movie, you should be careful and not use off any ordinaries, you should probably see if that villain has a connection with peter and that it`s the right TIME for that villain, that`s a big important thing, the RIGHT TIME. Doctor Octopus would`ve been perfect for the movie, nothing too complex, just simply a normal villain that starts at Spiderman`s level. So what i`m saying is, you can`t just use any random baddie right off the bat, such as shocker, Rhino, Vulture, etc… it`s supposed to be a dark and not very colorized villain or a villain that has a connection with Peter and creates a dark story with Peter trying to save him from killing the city, so, if you`re gonna carry a whole series then you need to envision what kind of reality the villains have with a Peter, not any villain from the comic can be thrown, because in the comics, the eccentric with Spiderman fighting a villain such as Rhino or Shocker wouldn`t be dark enough for the movie since it`s not dark enough or it doesn`t have a main involvement with Peter, so it just doesn`t reflect everything in the color of Peter`s visual reality from the transition of being a normal human to getting ready to become a gifted scenario.
    Now i personally thought
So anyway, unfortunately i personally thought putting Green Goblin in the first one was a dreadful mistake, and that`s why the new Goblin had to come in 3 2 movies later, then in the 2nd one could`ve been the Lizard, and in the third green goblin, and in the fourth and fifth i`m not completely sure other than New Goblin and Venom. They could`ve carried on for 5 movies if they hadn`t already split and shreded out all the good villains to be ripped into live action, and now especially after the Sm3 disaster i don`t see how they`re gonna keep the franchise safe with more than 4 movies. What they`ve done to Spiderman is really too much anxiety, i wish they made spiderman come in his own fashion not similar to other superheroes. I really don`t know what to say now, maybe i wouldn`t have let it completely held me down if they had just stopped at 4 movies even after Sm3, but now, if they don`t lay low after this one it`s all gonna get ruined, i`m really not sure what to think.

  24. That`s my real opinion there. Let it end with Venom, Carnage,(still keep a Pg-13 rating) and Lizard please.

  25. Ok, i`ve been taking drugs lately, so i`ve been doin all types of random stuff that i don`t know what i`m thinking. Anyway, that`s my real opinion. other rantings came from outer resonance.

  26. A couple of funny moments the first time I saw SM 3 in theaters; The time when MJ leaned in to kiss Harry some kid in the audience yelled “God…” you know the rest. Everyone laughed. An embarrassing moment was when Peter and MJ broke up on the bridge. Kirsten Dunst acted pretty well when she cried, and Tobey said unconvincingly said “No. Please don’t say that.” Everyone was laughing at him. I felt kinda bad for him

  27. @ Evan
Reason why the locket didnt turn to sand was because it wasnt organic as Flint Marko is. Locket was only a solid object. Just letting ya know. Its kinda reminds me of Dr. Connors turning into the Lizard, radiation plays a part in that because it was a combination of DNA and radiation from two species.

@790 I actually liked Spider-man 3 enough. The only thing i didnt care for was Peter’s dancing. Instead of that i thought Raimi could of shown more Peter in the alien costume or show more of venom’s attacks on police shortly after MJ’s abduction.

  28. The spiderman franchise was already ruined with the third movie so it can’t possibly get that much worse. Mine as well bring on more movies and hope to improve.

  29. @ M-Cat
Dont you think you, like everyone else are being over dramatic think a whole franchise is ruined over one film?
Ive seen worse hero films than Spider-man 3.
