Spider-Man 4 Villain Is A Vampire?

spiderman morbius Spider Man 4 Villain Is A Vampire?Sam Raimi, Director of all movies in the Spiderman franchise, spoke in the latest issue of Empire magazine and told them who he’d like to be the featured nemesis of Peter Parker’s alter ego in Spider-Man 4.

“I like it in the Marvel comics when Spider-Man fights Morbius,” said Raimi. “He’s really cool. A vampire! I like that combination of superhero plus supernatural.”

After Spider-Man 3, it was assumed by many that The Lizard would play a major role if there was to be another sequel as he was featured as an important secondary character in the movie playing a mentor-type role to Peter Parker in that film.

It would make sense to see The Lizard and Morbius as the two villains as they would work well together in the same film having had quite a bit of history together in the Spider-Man comics. On top of that, they share obvious similarities: Both are/were doctors, both work with different animals for their experiments and both achieved power from the same method.

Dr. Curt Connors (The Lizard) had his arm amputated due to an injury sustained by a blast while being a military surgeon. Later in life he studied the limb-regenerative capabilities of lizards and long story short, he turned into a humanoid-lizard hybrid.

Dr. Michael Morbius on the other hand, was a Nobel Prize-winning biochemist who suffered from a rare blood disease. Using experiments involving vampire bats and electroshock therapy, he ended up with super strength some side-effects similar to that of Vampirism and now he must drink blood from his victims.

I think this is a great idea for the next Spider-Man movie and if done right, can make up for the mess that was Spider-Man 3. This time they can focus on two characters and the film can be darker-themed with the nature of the characters involved. That being said, I’m getting a little tired of all of the Spidey villains partly redeeming themselves at the end and not being truly bad. That applies for both of these characters who are not entirely bad guys.

We should also not forget that Vampirism is definitely a current hot topic with the success of the Twilight books and movie which is turning into a series of films as well as the True Blood HBO series which is pre-production for a second season.

What do you think of The Lizard and Morbius making their big screen debuts?

Spider-Man 4 brings together Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi yet again, and is expected to hit theatres in 2011.

  1. Oh and lately i`ve been thinking about what people have been saying that Venom and Carnage aren`t the only villains and that there are so many other villains out there, so i guess when i said that they`re ORIGINAL i don`t think i really meant that they`re ORiginal, i think i just meant that like pretty much everything else we`ve seen on screen before they aren`t ANYTHING like these two villains. It`s hard to explain what i mean by that, but anyway, i still want the return of Venom and Carnage in the franchise that TOBEY MAGUIRE is in. Maybe they can use those villains in the next franchise.
Oh wait, do i mean UNORIGINAL? sorry. oh wait, i think that`s what you meant too 492.
However, not doing any more symbiotes after the way the story was developed in SM3 would be COMPLETELY AWKWARD!!!!!!
Since it made Peter turn evil and then he blew it up to get rid of it, Carnage is the way it`s supposed to go, also due to the fact that Spiderman vs. Venom was a big battle. It`s supposed to come as a surprise that symbiote`s aren`t dead, also if they`re not gonna do CaRNAGE then how it would it make sense to have another SM film when Venom was ALREADY IN SM3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In the final movie(SM5) Spiderman has to have his biggest battle so Carnage is the ONLY way for that to happen and it`s not like they DON`T have a story, they have ways of handling these villains, EVEN if they were alone in SM5 it`d still WRECK THE SERIES???????!!!!!!!! And even if the sample of Venom is dead they still have to mention it bc who`ll know what happened to it but for them to mention it they HAVE to have a story with the symbiotes…

  2. I change my mind now. There can`t be any Carnage without Venom so maybe Venom`s return should be set at the final shot of SM4. SM5 should start with perhaps the first 1/2 hour with Spiderman fighting Venom and then about 20 minutes later him and kassady break out of jail. then they have some sort of story for the rest of the film. I see why Carnage is comes from Venom, because the symbiote gains strength when bonding to an organism. Venom and Carnage have the same abilities as Spiderman, except they`re stronger so that`s realistic. Which is why I don`t mind them coming from Spiderman`s suit. Also putting in a symbiote doesn`t automatically mean disaster, it`s the way you write it.

  3. I don’t think Morbius would be smart right now because then they have to fall into petes mutation to soon, I have been itching to see carnage though and of course the rumor with jim carrey being a perfect actor for the part.

  4. Woops I ment to say Wouldn’t!^

  5. For Me Having Morbius and Carnage is enough but Carnage needs the return of Venom

  6. Hey folks, check out our discussion of the Venom Spin-off and how it could tie into Spider-Man 5, 6.

  7. The villain and storyline that I would love to see is the Scorpion saga. J.J. Jameson’s will certainly be reprised, but he’ll likely just be more of the same. Why not tap the great story where Jameson pays for a thug to become a super villain to destroy Spider-Man? It’s classic and it keeps the storyline tight.

  8. I don’t like Lizard and Morbius (if that’s the right name). Not familar with them, especially Morbius. I would be okay with one of them, but the main villian should be Carnage. The movies need a real bad guy, last movie Sandman turned good (I thought the character of sandman was brilliant btw) and Venom…he was used so terribly it’s unblieveable. Sandman was the star of that one. We need a true bad guy like Carnage to star, with people like Lizard or Rhino as secondary villians.
