Final Spider-Man: Homecoming Trailer

As promised, the third and final Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer has been released by Marvel Studios. The over 2-minute clip shows a mixture of new and old snippets of Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, as he settles back into his old life after the events of Captain America: Civil War.

The upcoming reimagining of the web-slinging superhero will not begin with an origin story, similar to the previous iterations of Spider-Man (played by Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield, respectively). Instead, it will follow Peter and his life after his first contact with the other superheroes existing in the current Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Since the project was announced, folks behind Homecoming admitted to making a conscious effort of grounding the story to the character's high school days. That way, then film can concentrato on the struggle of Peter trying to balance his life as a young man (going through the usual tropes of teenage years) and being a superhero.

The trailer (seen above) starts with Peter seemingly trying on his new suit from Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), after they get back to the United States from Germany. And like the Iron Man suits, Spidey's own also has its own AI assistant reminiscent of Jarvis before the character was fleshed out as Vision (Paul Bettany) in Avengers: Age of Ultron. As the video progresses, Peter is seen doing a bunch of running around helping his community with various neighborhood problems, as part of his "Stark Internship." At the end of the day, he reports to Tony about how his day went, presumably in the hopes of the latter calling him again for some huge Avengers gathering. Unfortunately, due to having too much eagerness to be part of the superhero circle, he decides to embark on more serious crimes - until he has a run-in with Adrian Toomes, also known as the Vulture's (Michael Keaton), henchmen.

Donald Glover's yet-to-be-announced character also made his debut with a short conversation with a suited Peter, telling him that the young Queens superhero needs to be better at a certain part of the job - although, it is difficult to know what exactly he means, given that there was no context to their conversation. Towards the end of the trailer, Peter, together with his friend Ned (Jacob Batalon), tries to crack the code to his Stark tech-infused suit where they found out that Tony intentionally activated its "Training Wheels Protocol" mode, frustrating Peter more about the lack of getting another big mission. Oh, and we told you the suit has its own JARVIS system!

Whereas the second Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer arguably showed too much of the movie's overarching narrative, this new trailer perfectly shows the right amount of new and old footages, with some extended scenes from previously-released snippets of the film. It is also commendable the attention to detail that director Jon Watts and his team put into Homecoming, like having Ned need to remind Peter that they have a Spanish quiz and Peter suddenly taking off from a school dance - presumably because something that needs Spider-Man's help came up, to drive Peter's personal struggle.

Basing from what we have seen so far, this collaboration project between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures definitely tries to take the role of Spider-Man to a place where it has never gone before. Despite 5 films made about arguably Marvel's most popular character, there is still a sense of freshness and a clever spin to the "friendly neighborhood" superhero that gets the audience pumped up for this version of him in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
