The problem is he doesn’t have a valid point when it comes to Kate Beckinsale. Sure, you can look at her bad films and make that argument. But I could make that argument about the best actors in Hollywood, including the likes of Pacino, Crowe, Deniro, etc. If I only watched Russell Crowe in Virtuosity, I could argue he was a bad actor. But we know that’s not true. The raves reviews for her performances in films like Cold Comfort Farm, Nothing But the Truth, and Last Days of Disco says it all. Beckinsale’s only fault as an actress is her own poor choices.

With the exception of Katie Holmes (who they were wise enough to replace), pretty much everybody on this list is the winner of some of acting’s top or most prestigious awards. Kate Beckinsale is a 2002 Razzie nominee for Pearl Harbor.

That’s a joke (sort of) but if you think Beckinsale is in the same class or caliber as the rest of those actors… point is, SHE’S NOT.

Nolan’s Batman isn’t about “the look” of the characters – nobody thought Ledger had “the look” of the Joker. Nolan’s Batman is about THE TALENT – top caliber talent on down from director, to cast, to crew. That’s the only reason why those movies are as good as they are. Talent valued over image or popularity.

Kate Beckinsale IMHO does not fit that criteria. That’s all I’m saying. Agree to disagree if you’d like.”

Stop watching stuff like Pearl Harbor and go watch Kate’s best films like I told you to. Until you do that you don’t have a leg to stand on. Kate is a terrific actress, and better than both Katie Holmes and Maggie Gyllenhal. Maggie Gyllenhal’s performance was every bit as bad in The Dark Knight as Katie Holmes was in the first film. So the fact that these two were in the Batman films renders your entire argument as nothing more than nonsense.

I’ve also stated it’s not just about looks. Do you even bother reading the posts you respond to? It’s about having the sex appeal, the acting chops, and the ability to pull off the action sequences.

And yes, I’d definitely place Kate among those actors before I’d put Maggie Gyllenhal and Katie Holmes among that list. And please, don’t talk to me about Razzies. Do you really want me to list the good and/or big name actors they’ve given awards to? They do it for the publicity, otherwise they’d get none.

As to who can be Hardy? Sadly, I’d now have to rule out Yvonne Strahovski due to “Chuck”‘s new revised schedule (Zach Levi left ‘Thor’ due to this)…but if one really must know, I hope Black Cat isn’t in the mix at all, at least not in regards to that alleged plot point we heard about a week ago.

So, I have to brainstorm. I’ll give you a top five for Black Cat, minus Yvonne Strahovski due to Chuck. Random order, no favorite. (because Yvonne is my favorite, lol)

Cuthbert would be a good choice, but she might be too short for the role (5’2″). Right age and look, though. I actually think Kate Hudson could pull of the role, though. SHe’d have to stop going to Yankees games in the spring though. LOL. I read over at IMDB that she turned down the role of MJ in Spidey…I wonder if she regrets that move?
