you cant replace Toby he is the best. he put his heart into the act and you can tell. i refuse to see the movie if you replace him. and i love spiderman like im the number1 fan so dont ruine the movie for me i want to see it.

This is awful. I don’t want to see Peter Parker back in high school. What’s the sense of that? We’ve already seen him in HS and have seen his character progress in Raimi’s films! If you are going to do a sequel, do a sequel. Why reboot? Do the first three films somehow not count? Is this one going to be akin to a crappy golfer’s “mulligan?” Is Sony calling for a “do-over” like some child complaining that the rules of the game weren’t fair?

WHy not just let it die, or at least make the story progress. THe first three films were great. Leave it at that.

I think it a horrible idea to change the cast and director.Toby makes spiderman who he is,couragous and goofy and lovable and a hero. Big mistake Huge!! I wont see the new reboot I refuse!!

To Reboot a franchise that is working is not the act of a sane company. Batman begins might have made some cash..but lost alot of fans.. including myself.. why get invested in characters if they are going to be completely remade every couple of years. Sony, I’m so dissappointed in you. Now you will understand the pain of DC… have fun.. and good look…. death of another series I will never see.. unless it’s on regular tv and nothing better to watch.. like a 10th rerun of south park.

Did any of you guys actually WATCH Spiderman 3? That movie was HORRIBLE. Topher Grace as Venom? Really? Introducing the Symbiote… burning thru that story arc in a predominately montaged style while setting up Sandman… and cramming Eric Forman as Vemon into the end of the film was the wackest sh*t ever.

Eddie Brock (who SHOULD have been Brock Lesnar, btw) could/should have been introduced in 3… leaving slow character development of him to parallel the story of how the Symbiote effects Parker (while also showing how powerful the black suit is by it being the reason for Sandman’s defeat). That would setup 4, where you can have John Malcovich pwn all things ever as The Vulture and continue the evolution of Eddie Brock and the tension between Parker and the Symbiote… 4 closes out w/ Spiderman discarding the Symbiote and beating The Vulture on his own… leading into 5, which introduces VENOM!!! Add a secondary villian (probably the Lizard) to preoccupy Spidey for chunks of the film in between Spidey/Venom clashes… and defeat that villian tn conclude 5, only to leave Spidey open to a massive/damaging Venom attack, which seemlessly transitions into Spiderman 6… leaving the spotlight soley and gloriously on Spidey and Venom for damn near 2 hours to wrap things up.

But alas… Sony sucks and blew their wad w/ Spiderman 3, thus killing off any hope of realizing the true potential inherent in a Spiderman movie franchise (that being the sickest Hero/Villian fight scenes EVER w/ Spidey vs Venom). Sony would’ve had a license to PRINT MONEY if they’d gone that route. Ugh.

what!!!!!! I’ve wanted to see this movie this movie would have been a big hit and all because you guys cant think of a stupid mortal enemy. I don’t know what you guys was thinking. I am 14 and I bet I can think of a bad guy that is better than sand man you guys really just needed to think harder. I am sure if you’s think harder you can make a new bad guy that is better then all of them. I am sure it doesn’t need to be cancelled you guys should be cancelled keep spider man going!!!!!

I just can’t understand that when a movie company has a winner going for themselves with unlimited sequels that would be hits could commit suicide by changing the scheme and momentem with something different. Go to Vegas if you want to gamble, there they like it when you lose!

I completely agree. Although the third installment was more than a bit disappointing, I loved the cast and am really quite sad not to at least have a concluding movie, I mean after all the status of the continuing love story between Peter and MJ was vague at best by the end of Spidermen 3. I do think the fans are deserving of at least a conclusion to that story. I’m not really all that sure I will see or enjoy the reboot. I think someone dropped the ball here.

Start from scratch? Are you kidding me?
These three films were one of the best movies I’ve seen. Why start from scratch, when it almost took a decade to get half way?
I recommend making Spiderman 4, 5 and 6, and then you can begin with the new version.

Tobey Maguire is born for this cast as Spider-man – so is Kristen Dunst as Mary Jane.
Only cartoon nerds wants a reboot, so the movies can follow the real story..
But what about the rest of the fans?.. think about it..

You Know, I was one of the fans that could not wait to see spider man 4 this just made me mad. As seen in the Comic books the characters where well put together (also the movies). Making another movie can be a smart idea but also a dumb idea so why take a risk of messing up the story line. So when the new spider-man movie comes out I’m gonna be watching it on the computer. (they not getting my money!)

I mean heck the hulk got rebooted like 3 times and lol each time they advertised the same products those dumb hulk gloves. well anyway, i just wantd to see what would happen to peter next. i mean i wish they would atleast make an ending movie where we kan know what happens to peter mj n every else. id just wana see.
