Despite the fact that Spectre has barely started shooting – we’ve yet to see footage, stills, or anything even remotely substantial about the film – there’s an air of iffiness surrounding the production. That’s all thanks to hackers who leaked the film’s script and communications between Sony and Eon executives, which indicated that the last third of the film was problematic and the budget has (had?) ballooned past $300 million.

And yet it’s hard not to get excited about the twenty-fourth James Bond film. No matter who your favorite Bond is (Sean Connery 4-ever), there’s no denying that Daniel Craig’s take on the character has been a huge success. The last Bond film – Skyfall – made over a billion dollars by itself. His first film, Casino Royale, rejuvenated a franchise that had succumbed to cheeseball absurdity (Die Another Day), and not of the good variety.Today, new cast photos for Spectre were released featuring Craig, Bond Girl Léa Seydoux (Blue Is the Warmest Color), and villainous henchman Dave Bautista (Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy) at an Austrian ski resort. While we’ve seen cast photos for the film before, these are the first to hint at its actual content.

Does this mean we’re going to see some action-packed skiing scenes in the film? I mean, the answer is almost definitely yes, right? After all, James Bond and skiing go together like – well, James Bond and car chases, James Bond and martinis, James Bond and villainous blond henchman, James Bond and terrible puns, et cetera.

The first and best Bond ski chase, to my mind, took place in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service starring George Lazenby. Subsequently, Roger Moore skied the most of any Bond in The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only, and A View to a Kill. Timothy Dalton didn’t so much “ski” as he sled atop a cello case, but it qualifies in my opinion. And finally, Pierce Brosnan went skiing in The World Is Not Enough.

What’re the chances that Daniel Craig’s James Bond is going to visit a snowy mountaintop and not perform death-defying ski stunts as he evades gunfire and other skiers? It seems unlikely that he’d be the only Bond not to do it (Connery notwithstanding).

Then again, maybe I’m just biased, because I would very much like to see what a 2014 James Bond ski chase would look like.

Spectre has less than a year to go before its release and it’s only been filming for little over a month. Hopefully, if there are kinks in the script, the film has had the time to iron them out. (Some of the communications from executives indicated that they had, indeed, been ironed out, and the script was being updated as recently as December.) We’ll have to wait to find out more.

What say you, Screen Ranters? Are you looking forward to Spectre? Do you want to see James Bond skiing like the good old days? Drop us a line in the comments.

Spectre hits theaters November 6th, 2015.
