We also get a first look at gangster Nero Padilla (Jimmy Smits) who, by the looks of it, is going to cause a whole set of fresh problems for the club this season. Not only does Nero install himself as a not-so-great mentor to the newly appointed Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club president, Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam), he also has his coveting eyes on Jax's mother, Gemma (Katey Sagal).
If the pernicious intentions of Nero weren’t enough for poor Gemma to deal with, it also seems that the long-simmering feud between her and her soon-to-be daughter-in-law, Tara Knowles (Maggie Siff), is finally coming to a violent boiling point. Where once a somewhat mutual respect existed, it looks like Tara's growing desire to see Jax leave his dangerous lifestyle has dissolved the ceasefire between Gemma and Tara.
The battle between Gemma and Tara will have to be set on the back-burner for Jax, who has taken his place at the end of the table as SAMCRO President by succeeding the ailing and traitorous Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman). Beside threats from within his own ranks, Jax will come across an ample number of external dangers, namely ex-drug kingpin Damon Pope (Harold Perrineau), who is planning revenge on SAMCRO for killing his daughter.
Check out the explosive new SOA trailers below:
Joining Smits and Perrineau on the upcoming fifth season of Sons of Anarchy is the previously announced Ashley Tisdale, who will be dropping her familiar Disney Channel visage to play Emma Jean, a high-class exotic dancer that ends up on the club's radar - and Community star Joel McHale, who is set to play a con-artist that picks the wrong marks.
