Today, Smallville fans were greeted with two great teasers that represent the past perils and future destiny of Clark Kent: Lex Luthor and the Superman Suit.

In double-hitter coming out the day of the highly-anticipated Geoff Johns episode of Smallville, TV Line kicked things off with a Smallville series finale teaser trailer that shows the long-awaited return of Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor.

With a myriad of flashes, quick glimpses, and the voice – Rosenbaum is unmistakable. As the pacing slowly steadies itself, the image that Smallville fans have been waiting for is clearly visible: Lex Luthor has returned.

Speaking on Rosenbaum’s return, Tom Welling said:

“[It] “was absolutely fantastic, because it was like he never left. We jumped right back into it.”

Of course, including Rosenbaum in the Smallville series finale wasn’t all that easy. Says Rosenbaum:

“I called them up on like a Friday, saying: ‘Look, I want to do this, but I’ve got to film this other thing [Fox's Breaking In] — so I’m coming up [to Vancouver] next Thursday.’ And they started writing!”

In this instance, the writing that Rosenbaum was talking about was regarding the Smallville series finale – something that executive producer Kelly Souders said they had already begun doing:

“We had already started breaking the finale. But it was pretty easy and seamless to rev up that story faster. It’s Lex!”

You can check out the Lex Luthor teaser below:

Adding to the goose bumps that you received from the Lex Luthor teaser, images from the May 6 episode of Smallville, entitled ‘Prophecy,” were released. Like the title suggests, the episode will be all about Clark’s destiny – and you can’t talk about Clark’s destiny without the Superman suit.

Even though the Smallville season 10 premiere showed a quick glimpse of the Superman suit, this is the first time that fans get a clear shot of the suit hanging in the fortress. Considering this is the exact same suit that was used in Superman Returns, there’s not much to say, regarding its look.

Although, I have to admit that the closer we are to the Smallville series, I am a bit worried about what Welling will look like in full Superman garb. Even though history has shown that Smallville knows how to make superhero costumes look great, I’m still a bit nervous about how Superman will actually look.

Hopefully that nervousness will dissipate with the airing of “Prophecy” on May 6.

  1. I didn’t have to click twice to see the pictures!! Thanks SR!!

This season finale is gonna be epic

  2. Woooww!!!Lex’s head looks HUUUUUGE!!!!Read that he could not shave his head because of prior acting commitments, so they used a bald prosthetic? That explains it.Either way, I lost interest in Smallville a whiiile ago…UNTIL the Season 10 episode “Homecoming” got me interested in how this will all turn out…I know they can pull a satisfying finale and I wish them all the best!

    • Yeah he’s on the Fox comedy Breaking In. With hair.

  3. “Speaking on Rosenbaum’s return, Tom Willing said…”

Tom Willing? Sounds like a porn name. :P

  4. This episode will be epic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. … Also, one thing I had wondered for ears was how te suit would look on Smallville. I am so happy that they’re using the same suit used in Superman Returns! Probably the bet prop they’ve ever had on set.

    • Best*

      • Dude I told you some off that footage from the series finale last promo had new Lex footage and him saying “we share the same destiny but have different paths” anyway I am stoked that we are going to get an answer how Lex survived the fortress collaspe

        • It’s true. you did.

Anyways these last few episodes seem that they will be amazing!!!

  6. Howcome theres no yellow belt? Or is the cape covering it up?

    • The cape’s covering it

  7. Only question I have is,will Clark learn to fly before the finale, and if so will he don the suit before the finale?

  8. Its not the exact same suit, the cape is made from a different material.

    • Does it have the yellow “S” on the back? Because it wasn’t there in Returns, and it was there in the flashes to the future in Smallville (first appearing in season 3)

      • @ foopher

I hope the cape has the yellow S emblem. I always liked the cape having that on there.

        • Me too! It probably will be on there

  9. Mmmhhh…no mention of Darkseid in the final episodes?

    • He’s lurking in the shadows, but he’s still very present.

  10. The secret co-star to return on Smallville will be Kristin (Lana Lang). She just like Michael (Lex Luthor) have filmed the final episode. A new spin off is Clark-Luthor-Kent-Conner! The new show will take place at Smallville High School and the Kent farm! Tom Welling will play Clark in one episode!

    • Clark-Luthor-Kent-Conner?

      ………………… really?

    • This is just about the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen posted on here.

    • I’m going to go out on a limb and call BS on this…

      • I was thinkin’ the same thing

  11. cant frikin wait@@@@@@ i wanna see lex nowwww lol

  12. i share the same concern about how the suit will look on welling. He’s got that lumberjack strong man build, which is fine, but in a clingy suit, will he look superman-ish? They used pads on Routh I think, but Welling is already a big guy so pads may look funny. I duuno. I hope it works out though!!

    • The C.W. said they had a surprise guest to return to Smallville. Well just like Michael-Lex Luthor we have Kristin-Lana Lang to return also, they didn’t tell you everything silly that could ruin the ending? This change of heart was the same as Michael (Lex) so give the end a chance and then you could post a thank you to me! Don’t forget THE CONNER-KENT-LUTHOR CLONE SPIN OFF! This will be at Smallville High School and the Kent farm with Tom Welling playing Clark-Superman in one episode! The Warner-C.W. will not tell you everything on the final show!!! Thanks some of you!!!

  13. YEA… he’s gotta put on the suit, hanging in the Fortess of Solutiude, totally, awesome make, keep it classic, keep it the Kryptonian way.. and Lex coming back now that’s also classic and the way it should be, that all tight RED SUIT has to go, he’s a Hero not a mountain dew race car driver.

  14. Steven Dunetz is right about The Spin Off! My friend worked on the set in Vancover and the set for Smallville is still standing for The New Conner Kent Luthor Clark Superboy series. And my friend who is a key grib for the show told me also about everything about (KRSTIN) did film the last show with (MICHAEL) the villian of the story. The C.W. said they held back secrets on the last episodes so NO ONE LIED except The C.W. Network.

  15. I’m not worried about how Tom will look in the super suit at all, Anthony. I don’t think the producers would’ve chosen the Superman Returns outfit on a hunch that it would work on Tom’s figure without doing a secret screen test behind closed doors with no cameras and only a handful of people, if not less, who even knew about it. Tom is just as tall as Brandon, if not taller, and has a fuller figure with much broader shoulders.

I for one have not been nearly as concerned about it (the suit) or how the show will end because I have high hopes that it won’t dissapoint, mainly for that reason. This show has meant a lot more to me than it has to some of the pessimistic fans who usually have more negative things to say about it than positive. It’s still been a great show to me, flaws and all, and considering how well these last 2 seasons have been handled, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I predict that Tom is going to KILL rockin’ that Superman suit. :) I think Tom will look just as good in the suit as Reeve did, or at the very least MUCH better than Brandon did. I’m also really glad they chose to go with a different cape with a brighter shade of red, especially considering how the cape from Returns was used mainly for CGI effects anyway.

  16. I’d still be surprised if we actually see Welling in the suit. I look for the last 30 sec, to be him going to the fortress to get it and seeing some red and blue CG like we’ve seen before.
It would be nice though to see Welling mimiking the ending of the first Superman movie. Waving to the tv as he flies around the world….

  17. Just saw some clips from Dominion and Welling has certainly lost some weight. i would venture to say about 15-20 lbs since the beggining of season 10….he has said recently he gained about 30lbs since season 1. I don’t think he would be losing weight unless he was gonna put on the suit for real and for more than 30 seconds…..if it was just a few seconds they could easily CGI-it and make him look thinner…but the guy has been working hard to look good in the suit…can’t think of any other reason why he looks leaner…..just my two cents….

  18. Yes, Tom Welling looks younger again with some of his weight off! He lost that weight to fit into The Superman suit for sure!
