You can now add one more Smallville cast member to the list of those returning for the Smallville series finale, as it has been revealed that John Schneider will reprise the role of Jonathan Kent one final time.

While the details of Schneider’s return has yet to be revealed, the simple fact that Jonathan Kent is dead only leaves so many options open. With Darkseid’s recent fondness for graveyards and tombstones, it wouldn’t be any surprise if the physical form Jonathan Kent came back with Darseid sitting  in the so-called “driver’s seat.”

Of course, with the Smallville series finale likely being the transformational episode where Clark finally becomes Superman, one might expect Jonathan to show up and provide his son with some encouraging words – with the help of Jor-El. Like the Smallville season 10 premiere evidenced, Jonathan came back to Clark while he was dying on the streets of Metropolis and gave him a message from the Kryptonian patriarch.

Perhaps the battle between Clark and Darkseid, or Clark and Lex Luthor will drive the (hopefully) flying superhero to the brink of death. In that moment, it’s logical that Jonathan would be able to return – perhaps with Jor-El in tow – and help coax Superman (yes, I said it) back to life.

Speaking with Starkville House of El last month before the series finale taping, John Schneider talked about how he’d like to see finale appearance unfold:

I still feel it needs to end with Jonathan sending him off once and for all. Or Jonathan and Jor-El together (like) Yoda and Obi-Wan. Like I said, not sure how it’s going to play out but I feel strongly that Jonathan should be there in the end to see Superman.

We’ll have to wait a couple months before we find out whether or not Schneider’s wishes will be fulfilled, but at least we now know that the Smallville series finale is going to incorporate as many former cast members as possible – except Lana Lang (Kristin Kruek).

  1. cant wait!! and i heard that Pete might be comin bak too

    • He’s in jail… I’m pretty sure anyway

  2. Let’s see we have Clark, Lois,Oliver,Tess,Chloe, Jonathan, Martha, Lex and Perry set to appear in the finale. I just want a Jimmy Olsen cameo a least in a flash foward. They are still filming the finale or a least reshooting some stuff because the guy that plays Jeff the Intern just tweeted he finish filming his last appearance today.

    • Is it confirmed that Perry will be in the finale? I hoped so but I thought it was just a rumour?

  3. seeing as… *SPOILERS*
The actor who plays Pete is in jail… I highly doubt we’d see Pete

    • NOT COOL! What did he do?

  4. All I can say is “Yay!”

  5. The best Johnathan Kent ever. Now whenever I picture JK in my head, I see John Schneider. Smallville made the Kents real to me in a way they hadn’t been before. They were deepened, fleshed out and expanded. JS and Annette O’Toole were so amazingly perfect in their roles.

  6. I think Tess will die. It’s a series finale there has to be at least one death. I’m really hope John Glover is back in the finale too, I know he was only meant to do four episodes and he’s done those I think, but it seems fitting that he be in the last episode as he was in the first.

    • Michael Mckean has been very quite and dodging if he is going be back for the finale….I think he wants to keep it a surprise.

      • He did actually mention something about it on twitter, I sure hope he comes back, Perry is great!

  7. Now we just need to get the whole Justice League back. Not to help Clark fight Darkseid, because he should do that on his own, but just give him a pep talk and have a nice send off for all of them.

  8. I rather see Lana than Pete see Clark become Superman anyways. I can’t wait & disappointed that the last episode will be here before we know it. Can’t wait to see how Darkseid will appear. If he speaks on the show, PLEASE let it be Michael Ironside’s voice.

  9. Smallville’s pilot is airing next week…..ten years flew by so fast. Its going to be weird seeing a insecure naive Clark realizing his not from earth having a bonding moment with Mr K….then two weeks later see Mr K…beat the crap outta Clark lol

  10. There’s already a finale in plans? Well that took A WHILE, I got bored 5 seasons back. How can’t you get bored? Silly storylines.

    • Not everyone can be into great shows. Whatever you like now is good enough so don’t feel bad. Those shows may not be quite good enough to keep you from posting and pining about a show you used to watch, but maybe you’ll have better luck with the new fall shows.

  11. WTF happened to John Jones???
I want to see the Martian Manhunter

  12. Michael Rosenbaum plays Lex Luthor in the finale.
    Yes he’s back.

But besides that, smallville season 10 has a crappy storyline. Most of the episodes are dumb, and they drag so much. Season 9 is way better than this crap.

    Futhermore…Bring back John Jones!!!

  13. Oh…and wtf. There might be a wedding in the 2 hour finale. WTF are they thinking? We’re tired of weddings.

  14. what happend to Lana? I truly can’t remember… help me?

    • @ Hannah

Lex infected her w/ Kryptonite when she had powers to stop a bomb which of-course Clark couldn’t get close enough to. Only way to stop the bomb in time was for to touch two posts which infected her with kryptonite. Lex wanted them to be apart & that was his way of doin it cause he knew Lana wouldn’t let Clark get close to her. When Lana told Clark doctors couldn’t help her, she told him she was leaving and it ended with Clark struggling to get one last kiss from Lana before she left for good.
