Foopher says:

But i do agree with Pete about the spin off. I don’t think it wuold be a great idea as i’m sure it wouldn’t reach 9 seasons. But like Bruce said what doesn’t appeal to some appeals to others.

Also with a spin off, it would just get too corny. I mean Smallville’s corny at times, but a spin off would get a little ridiculous. But then again, you never know. It could be 10x better than the original show.

Pete Ross says:

Lol True…

Bruce maybe you should collaborate this thread and send it to the Smallville production team.. Because the reality is we will probably make it to season 10 (hopefully), and not actually see any spin-offs at all.

I personally would like to see smallville continue to season 40 with Tom Welling playing superman as an old man, negotiating with young meteor freaks about why it’s wrong to use your powers to steal..
He’d look like Gene Simmons from kiss in blue tights running around at a snails pace reminiscing on why he wasted his younger years with Lana Lang, when he could have been learning how to fly all along!

Haha…

Foopher says:

Pete, that last paragraph made me giggle. I’m glad you’re not one of those people who thinks “the show should just die”.

Pete Ross says:

No I love that show! Got all the seasons and made the effort to watch them all again leading up to the Doomsday finale – hence the disappointment.. Took ages to get through them all, but still thinking seasons 3 and 7 are probably the best. 6 was probably the poorest but was still worth watching. What do you think?

Melissa says:

Season 3 was by far the worst, just thinking about it…nyeh. To me season 4 and season 7 were the best (I liked 8 too)

Dough13 says:

I agree with Melissa, my favs are definitely 4 and 7, but 5 kills me. I don’t mind 6 because I like the whole how Lana finally figures it all out. I have all of them on DVD…I started from the first season and now I am up till 5 now, still love this show.

Foopher says:

I too have all the seasons on DVD and will be going to my local Wal-Mart on the 25th to get season 8,

My favorites, in order, are: 2,1,3,5,8,6,7,4

I like 2 the best because, he actually starts getting “super”. 4 is my least favorite, not because it was a bad season, but it seemed like they rushed putting episodes together. (a perfect example is KRYPTO. There were just some editing flaws like the GMC logo on Lois’ envoy disappears, the shed wall bouces when Clark throws the guys into it, and they completely forgot about the kryptonite in the truck when clark went back in to save Shelby)

Alot of people would argue that 8 is the worst. No, not really. If anyone watched any episode other than the finale they should be impressed. I myself even liked the finale. During the season Clark really became “super”. He assumed his double identity, he’s working at the planet, They introduced new villians, and also new heroes.

I like season 4 alot, so that shows how much i like all the other seasons

ben says:

@foopher
i thought you said you didnt like season 4? lol i dont have smallville dvds yet but i plan to get them sometime

Mike says:

Well wat ever happens we have 2 see him in the suit eventually and above all fly! its been to long now it makes a mockery of the superman legend 2 not have him fly after so long also wats happening with the zod aspect ? not heard any news about storylines reguarding him but in series 8 he appeared in the finally anyone know wats going on ?

Biggbenn says:

I’ve watched all the seasons up 2 d doosday finally bt i luv season 8 7 6 and 4 ofcourse

Foopher says:

i said 4 was my least favorite, i didn’t say i didn’t like it

Melissa says:

I don’t understand how season 4 is your least favorite. It had enough of everything and it ended with one of the coolest finales that I can remember.

ben says:

@foopher
ah….to me saying somethings your least favorite = disliking it lol

Foopher says:

I know but if you read the last sentence, it stated…

“…so that shows how much i like all the other seasons”

And Yes, season 4 had the best finale, IMO. It also had a wonderful premiere, BUT everything between that was kind of iffy to me. I mean i loved the Flash… oops i mean Impulse, episode, and i loved how they introduced Lois.

lotr says:

season 6 was the worst, save a couple of episodes like “Justice” I liked season 2, season 7 was quite good, and despite what a lot of people think, season 5 was great too.

lotr says:

season 8 did a good job following a solid storyline throughout the whole season but i hated sam writer’s acting

Stylez says:

The first 4 to 5 seasons were pretty good. They were very creative and it kept people excited. But I do believe that like every other series, when it lingers on for so long it tends to lose some of its hype.

I believe that they have extended the series too much. And the way Lex was killed seem to do his character wrong. I mean, this is how the great Lex Luther dies? A car explosion… Come on, I do hope that Season 9 is the last, and hopefully Zod vs. Superman isn’t as bad as Doomsday vs. Superman. Ohh, and Jimmy dieing was a bad move, he was a pretty good actor and gave some comedy to the episodes.

Foopher says:

Jimmy left the show. They didn’t chose to kill him ( i mean they did chose but what else was there to do)

Lex isn’t dead

ben says:

my friend says that the current jimmy’s age didnt match up with the comic anyway.

Foopher says:

Yeah. That’s what they said at comic con. That they needed a younger jimmy.

I don’t know if i would’ve gone the whole, death, angle. But then again it’s not my show. If it works, it works.

Foopher says:

Oh, and just so everybody knows; i do know how to spell “choose”

Stylez says:

Yea, I get that they needed a young Jimmy and that he wanted to leave the show but I think it was wrong to kill him off and in the way that they did it. So unfair to his character, I think they should had let him go when he had the big fight with Chloe and he would have divorced her and just gone on his way. This would give his character potential for a comeback in a future show or for various cameos. But, now that they killed him off that’s it for his character.

Foopher says:

True, but the title of the episode was DOOMSDAY. And that’s exactly what it was. It wasn’t about the character Doomsday, but just in general, it was a very bad and tragic day for every character.

I hated to see him go, but i always seem to like those sort of, unexpected, tragic endings. (one the best parts of West Side Story, IMO, was the ending)

Foopher says:

I just wish they hadn’t annouced that there would be 2 deaths. That just sort of ruined it.

Pete Ross says:

Some interesting stuff here. It is a shame Jimmy’s character was killed but hey…

Everybody seems to have forgotten that Lois escaped with the Justice league ring while fighting Tess in the Doomsday episode. Considering the ending of the Doomsday episode I’d say that there is every possibility that Lois has actually gone back in time and has changed the future somehow.

We shall see!

Foopher says:

Judging from the the season 9 trailer, she is back from her trip to the future in the premiere.

Anyway, i just stopped by my local wal-mart and got season 8 on DVD! There’s a neat featurette on Allison Mack directing POWER, and also a documentary on how they made Doomsday. It’s pretty good stuff.

ben says:

i found this on wikipedia…..apparetly we get the superman s this season….this explains a lot of this seasons plot :)

Season 9

The ninth season of Smallville is set to premiere on September 25, 2009. Brian Austin Green has been confirmed to portray Metallo for at least two episodes this season,[5] but executive producer Brian Peterson hopes that he will stay on board for more episodes. Callum Blue has also been confirmed to portray Zod as a series regular. His character was first mentioned in season five, when Brainiac used Lex Luthor’s body as a physical vessel for Zod’s spirit to inhabit. In an interview, executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders explained that this version of Zod will be different from the one who appeared in prior seasons. The execs classify this incarnation as “Major Zod”, as opposed to his typical “General Zod” identifier, and reveal that throughout season nine “the venomous side of Zod rises because he experiences a few key betrayals with our beloved characters”. In an interview, Justin Hartley revealed that season nine will partially deal with Oliver having to battle his personal demons: “I think he is going to struggle with the things he has been afforded (as a result of) his powers. He has sacrificed things and done things that haunt him… It’s bad stuff. We need to get to the bottom of it.” Peterson states that season nine will see Clark taking his “Red-Blue Blur” persona into obsessive territory: “He is trying a little too hard to be a hero, and is leaving the rest of his life behind.” Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello revealed that this season will feature major developments to the Clark/Lois relationship, but also that Superman’s “iconic ‘S’” will be featured significantly throughout the season, including Clark’s chest. After an interview with Peterson, Ausiello states that the theme for season nine will be “Clark’s darkest hour”; there will be a love-triangle between Clark, Lois, and the Red-Blue Blur that will last for the season; tension will build between Chloe and Clark as the former realizes she is not satisfied just being a “sidekick”; and that the creative team is not “story-wise, approaching this season as Smallville’s last”. A scene between Clark and Jor-El has been constructed for the premiere to explain why Clark has not learned to fly.

In an interview following the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con International panel for Smallville, Souders and Peterson revealed that Clark will be training to take one-step closer to his ultimate destiny as Superman. The executive producers also stated that DC Comics character Roulette will be making an appearance on the show, as well as several other characters, and that Clark would be wearing a costume while performing his Red-Blue Blur duties. The pair explained that not only is this season’s theme about “Clark’s darkest hour”, but also about him “embracing the fact that he is an alien”. E! Online’s Natalie Abrams revealed, following the Smallville panel, that Clark’s suit will be black, with a silver Superman “S” on the front, as well a trench coat that doubles as a cape. Based on the information released at the panel, Abrams reports that Clark and Chloe’s relationship will be strained this season, Oliver Queen will “hit rock bottom” this season, the producers have a series finale prepared should this season be the last, Clark and Oliver’s friendship will become tense thanks to Oliver’s growing interest in rekindling his romantic relationship with Lois, Zod will be bringing multiple Kryptonians to Earth with him, and there is a chance Jor-El may make a physical appearance on the show. Tom Welling will be directing two episodes, Allison Mack will be directing one, and Geoff Johns will return to write an episode featuring the Justice Society of America.

BEN, you need to follow our other articles on SMALLVILLE and this might not have been a surprise to you. But thanks for the info.

ben says:

ok i’ll check em out lol

Foopher says:

I’ve been watching alot of season 8 today and i’ve come to the conclusion that jimmy’s middle name being jimmy makes absolutely no sense at all. In episode 5 when the impound lot calls Chole and his appartment he says about the vehicles of Chloe Sullivan and James Olsen. His car is even registered as James Olsen. I mean unless he was just truly against the name Henry it just doen’t add up.

And a younger child being named James with the older one’s middle name being James just seems kind of weird.

The only thing i could think of is when Jimmy tells Chloe about his dad being a crazy drunk in Detroit. If he’s living (or was living) with a foster family, then maybe it was just a coincidence that his foster brother’s name was jimmy.

They definitely need to expand on that a little more in season 9.

That also answers someone’s question (i don’t even know if it’s on this post) about how Chloe had never met his dad and were like strangers at the funeral.
