As has become tradition with Smallville, the final episode of Season 6 has packed in more stuff than the last half dozen episodes combined. There will be heavy spoilers ahead, so if you haven’t seen the episode yet, I suggest you come back afterwards.
Here is a quick summary of some of what takes place in this very busy episode:

- Clark (Tom Welling) discovers that Lionel (John Glover) threatened to kill him if Lana (Kristin Kreuk) didn’t marry Lex (Michael Rosenbaum).
- Clark goes after Lionel with the intention of killing him.
- Lana finally decides to leave Lex and tells him.
- Our cool customer the Martian Manhunter (Phil Morris) returns to help Clark stop Lex, who is trying to find the last wraith from the Phantom Zone so he can use its DNA to give super-powers to his sleeping army of super soldiers.
- Lois (Erica Durance) goes to a power facility at the base of a dam looking for information about Lex’s 33.1 project and is stabbed by a security guard.
- We discover Chloe’s (Allison Mack) super power.
- A new character from the Superman comic book universe is introduced to Smallville: Bizarro!
So is that enough for ya? As they say… wait! There’s more!
We’ve all heard that a major character dies in tonight’s episode, and of course there are a few red herrings tossed in so that we won’t know until the start of Season 7. I will go out on a limb and guarantee that the character who dies is NOT Lana. Go back and watch the episode again and you will see a delivery truck pass between Lana and Lionel a moment before her vehicle explodes. I propose that she has gotten VERY street savvy this season and that she figured that she could knock off two birds with one stone: Lex would not look for her because he would think she’s dead plus he would get blamed for her murder.
At first it seemed that Lois was going to buy the farm, but even the alternate-DC-universe writers of Smallville probably weren’t allowed to kill a character that is so prominent in the Superman universe. They showed Lionel in dire straits, but I’m wondering if they’re going to tough it out and actually kill Chloe?
Guess we’ll have to wait a few months to find out.
The writers on the show have done a fine job with Lex over the course of the series… I’ve really enjoyed his journey to the dark side, and in particular the fact that some of the “good guys” have unintentionally pushed him in that direction. Of course tonight’s episode with Lana dropping the “you’re not capable of love” bomb on him completely and utterly sealed the deal. It should be no-holds-barred-dark-side-of-the-force time for Lex in Season 7. I also like how it really looks like he’s been set up (by Lionel?) in regards to the whole faked pregnancy thing. Lots of twists and turns, but in a good way.
I really, REALLY liked the very last scene of the episode where we get to see Bizarro in his true form, flying over the river. Which reminds me, when the heck are the writers actually going to let Clark fly? I mean I know they committed to no flying at the start of the series, but come on now guys… you’ve fudged that a number of times and it’s getting a bit ridiculous to have Clark run everywhere. 
On the other hand, what I didn’t like (again) is how much they pack into one episode. It’s almost too much, really… kind of like eating 5 Snickers bars at once, ya know? Feels good while you’re doing it, but immediately afterward you realize it was a bit much.

i agree. now that bizarro is introduced with the full abilities of a true kryptonian. the producers have to bring kel els other abilities to fruition in order to stop him i mean is clark supposed to jump or run after him while hes flying around in the sky. I mean seriously. the fortress i think is more an ornament for the artic than a place of refuge or learning right now for clark, season 7 has to have more involvment of jor el to bring next yrs final to a climax. and if it is to be the last season, i truly hope thay have a two hour finale to end it. i was surfing my channels and came across other series having a 2 hr finale, im like “these shows have nothing compared to smallville and there ending there season with two hours. So hope the network is considering this.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. For a series finale, I wouldn’t be suprised if they did go two hours… of course that’s a long way away.

I actually find it so sad, what happened to Lex. He had good intentions at the begining and turned bit by bit into a (d)evil. His curiosity brought him that far and finally he wanted to rule the world. Sad… I can’t wait to see Clark finally “finishing” him!
I do think he really loved Lana, somewhere in his twisted heart. But his other personnality is stronger than anything else.
But it’s typical for the Smallville-writers: anytime Clark and Lana get a chance to FINALLY be together, something bad happens. Now that he told her his secret (even though she already knew a part of it), she leaves the town. Shouldn’t they get a chance, ONE time, to be together during a whole season at least?
Well… It’s also a pitty that the super heroes disappeared after “Justice”. Why did they have to leave? It’s not enough to “destroy” Lex’s lab!!!! It would be so great to have them in season 7: Flash, Green Arrow, Aquaman and Cyborg. And maybe many others…

Yup, same guy… but as you know, in “Smallville” characters do not exactly match their DC Universe counterparts. In the “Smallville” version, although it’s basically the same character, he states that he knew Kal-El and spent time on Krypton.
Waaaaay different from the comics version AFAIK.

I must say you’re an awsome writer and I couldn’t agree more with everything. But I’ve been waiting now for six seasons for Lana and Clark to find eachother in smallville. At least for half a season or something. I guess that won’t happen, just as the flying part.

Excellent post i must say, The lana observation with the truck in between her and lionel is spot on thats wot i thought as well. It was to in your face for it not to be noticeable and leave a wee cliffhanger for season 7 although the hole lois clark love affair, attraction flirtatious moments wotever you want to call it is something i like also. Chloe who i just love i think it is her who finally bites the bullet i love lionel so we will wait with baited breathe. When are they gonna let clark feckin fly. Really cant wait till he kicks lex’s ass. Although lex’x character has gone from strength to strength he really will stop at nothing for world domination almost like GW Bush lololol!!! Sorry had to get my little political point in there. Anyhoo!! season seven is gonna a be the season of All Seasons cant wait. Thank god for the internet as i am in Scotland and series 6 is not showing on TV here till Aug-Sep sad but very true. So i say Hail the Net and Long live SmallVille !!!!

Alchemy’s principle of equivalent exchange. Chloe ressurected Lois; there’s no doubt in my mind that Lois WAS dead. It’s possible that she gave her life to bring back another. But what a retarded power that would be! None of the other Krypto-infected have been known to die after using their power for the first time.
I love Chloe more than Lois or Lana, and I just hope her battery of life is drained instead of destroyed.

Isn’t Bizarro supposed to be the opposite of Superman in the canon? Crazy to Clark’s sane, charged up by Kryptonite, weakened by the sun that charges Clark up?
I thought it was very smart to give a lot of forshadowing in almost every episode. like fore example in the pilot episode the writers showed the newspaper with queen enterprizes on the from page before they even brought in oliver queen.
maybe chloe not only gave up her life for lois but also her soul. which is how lois becomes a super reporter and falls in love with clark later on?
I think alot of you are losing focus of the main goal here. “Smallville” is an awesome show, yes. Many of us (me included) were Superman fans before it started, and alot of people jumped on the band-wagon with the show. “Smallville” is about Clark coming into his powers and learning that he has to keep Clark/Kal-el/S-man seperate entities. Yes, there are three entities. Clark is the farm boy/news reporter. Naive. We all know who Superman is and what he stands for. As for Kal-el, you have to remember that Jor-El did not intend for Kal-El to be a protector of Earth, but a ruler. Since the S-man entity hasn’t truly been unleashed yet, that leaves us with Clark and Kal-el. To my knowledge and recolection, Clark has yet to fly in the show (although I could be mistaken). However, i know Kal-el has.
Another thing you have to take in consideration, is that Lana and Clark don’t end up together. Period. Its not meant to be. Yes, the powers that be have already changed ALOT of the storyline from the original that Jerry and Jow put together, but there are certain things that can’t be changed. Clark and Lois are ultimately the love story, not Lana. Sorry to break you’re hearts who want that relationship to happen….
Lana has clearly staged her own death. She has always been resourceful. Killing herself off is just away to keep Lex from looking for her. Something will happen and she’ll be back though (stupid girl LOVES the drama…).
I think Chloe’s power is to trade places with someone. Is she dead? I dunno. Maybe just collapsed. But Chloe is an incantation of the producers mind, not part of the original storyline.
There are alot of ideas being thrown out that I would love to see also. MANY villians that we haven’t seen yet. But Doomsday is a last ditch effort. I would LOVE to see the “Reign of the Supermen” played out, but again, not gonna happen. For one, we already seen the cyborg. Duh.
Speaking of Cyborg, and Green Arrow, and the rest of the JLA, (Yet ANOTHER storyline torn to shreds), I can’t see the producers throwing that out. The JLA cartoon was a huge hit, and now “Smallville” has theirs. I forsee a spinoff, with MAYBE guest appearances by Tom Welling as Clark (orignally Superman was just an honorary member of the JLA, kinda like now when Clark only helps out and keeps in touch once in a while). I forsee a GOLDMINE for the WB here. We’ve alrady got MANY heroes established (Clark, Oliver, Arthur (Auqaman), Cyborg, and Impulse (Flash wanna be)) and could EASILY bring in the others (Wonder Woman, Bat-man, Green Lanturn). I think a new fire for meeting new Heroes has been lit by the OTHER tv show on another network *cough*Heroes*cough* and the industry is turning into a wildfire again.
“Smallville” cannot continue. 7 years is a good run, don’t get me wrong and I’m not saying the end is near, but it won’t be as “Smallville” and it won’t be with Lana and Clark and Lex. I would like to see it go out with a grand slam, rather than fizzle out 2 or so years/seasons later.
As for Bizarro, (in the comics anyhow) he was the opposite of Superman (and he talked like a 2 year old like “Me am Bizzaro”). Blue Kryptonite hurt him, and Green recharged him, in the golden age, since then DC had made a “Bizzaro world” that once defeted the clones would just return there.
One final note that I’d like to see, but probably won’t happen, would be at LEAST a mention of Gotham City or Bruce Wayne (maybe an episode called “World Finest”). =) I don’t know how many of you know this, but Bat-man has a kryptonite bullet with Superman’s name on it for that just in case situation. We need to see Clark lose control and put his faith and trust into a fellow superhero.

i think in series 7, clark/lana will realise they can never be together, and the major love story will be Clark and Lois. I was looking on the net and I found ’season 7′ spoilers. Sorry, I can’t remember where i found them (month ago) but it said that Chloe dies, Lionel moves to Europe because Martha rejected his marriage proposal, Clark talks to Jor- El about using his powers in public, and he says that he’s got the ‘glasses’ idea but Jor- El says he may have to wear a mask, and constantly throughout the series Clark is being watched from a distance by small blue men!? I know it’s crazy, but that is wot i read.
I seriously this Bizzaro idea is big enough for being a cliffhanger bridge from 6-7…

I agree will Alcadyzaar on many points…Lana and Clark will not get together, in the first set of movies the bring her up, but only as a cruch thing(played by the beautiful Miss Toole)…Superman is but 1 of 3 personalities in Clarks life(good call bringing up Kal-el)…the JLA is a GOLDMINE and will definately be back in the mix in season 7. last eps maybe or before then to fight a super bady, like maybe a Doomsday monster built by Lex…but on some I disagreed. Such as the Bizarro character. Originally, there has been 2 different versions of his past. In one, his world was created by Myxpzclk…or whtever, and in another he was a clone created by Luthor of Superman. The clone, perfect at creation, only retarded after time and cell structure disapaited, so you may see the Smallville Bizarro start the same process in the Season 7 opener. Like at the end when his face cracked and went white…slow breakdown of cellular structure. Another point you missed on was the fact that they have mentioned Gotham, once in a news report and another more recently in the episode “Hydro” when Tori Spellings’ character mentions she has a view of it from her office. But your right more is needed, but lets keep in mind, Batman would be off training accross the world at this point in his life so lets not ruin that great story by forcing him onto the show. Thats why they brought in Oliver, to give us the Batman-like character without disrupting his world.
I giggle with glee everytime they bring in a new character or staory line from the canon and hope they do more in this last season.

The only highlight of the season finale was the emergence of Bizarro.
Chloe was revealed to be a meteor freak and it paid off when they showed her powers.
The scene between Chloe and Lois was pointless because Chloe was telling Lois to back off from the Luthors, yet she herself isn’t backing away them.
The scene between Lex and Lionel was also a throwaway scene because it was about Lana stealing
the DVD, which Lex should have confronted her about. What was the reason for Lionel to check up on Lex?
From Vessel to Phantom, Clark hasn’t grown up at all – he was out of the loop in both of those season finales and only cared about the wrong things. It makes you laugh when he gets beat up
by his Bizarro self.
Where were the cliffhangers? When Lana faked her own death, I didn’t feel a sense of jeopary with
her. The only ones who were in danger were Clark,
Lois, Chloe, and Lionel.
The season finale is not up there with the others
like Covenant, Commencement, among others.

I understand what y’all are saying about the show had a good run, and we all know what happens. I love this show. I was a huge Superman fan before the show came out. I didn’t like the whole idea about Clark and Lex being buddies, but I loved watching Lex’s descent.
I don’t want to see the show end… I need to see how Clark becomes the reporter one day and falls in love with Lois. She already knows him… That’s how they should end the series. With Lois getting into trouble and Superman swooping in to save the day and ends with Clark winking into the camera, and an American flag and the Superman cape superimposed flapping in the wind. Just like the good ole days.
as much as i love this series, i also hate it. for the fact that it wasn’t as true as the canon and there are lots of wrong things everywhere in the whole series and really really bad writing. the fact that the writers made smallville a freak infested town and the characters are like the gang from scooby doo. if it wasn’t for the meteor freak of the per episode, this series would have ended years ago. we all know what lana and clark feel and felt for each other, it was true love at its best. and thinking clark will fall inlove with a b*tch like lois (maybe id ms durance wasn’t playing lois’ character as i see her as ugly and looks saggy) makes me feel sorry for clark. even if i see smallville as a superman’s story gone bad, i will watch the series to its end.
I think other than the “when is Clark going to fly?”
question, the other question should be “When is Clark going to go public with his power?” I mean he is going to have to do that at some point. Maybe a season 7 finale with a Clark vs Bizzarro- at least with Clark wearing a mask. Like Lex embraced his darkside, Clark must fully embrace his heroic side as well. What do you think Vic?
You know I’ve been thinking about a Bruce Wayne and Clark crossover. I am going to have to post it at some point. It goes like this, Bruce appears in an episode entitled “Guest”. He has a natural attraction towards Chloe ( i thought its about time) Lois is suspicious about Bruce. He appears in 3 parts. The last one being Justice where he helps the other heroes destroy a small clone of the phantom with his own code name “Knightwing”. In the end he leaves ” to set things right” and to follow “my own destiny” he says and leaves. Giving Chloe a mysterious computer chip. And takes Lex’s dossiers on meteor-freaks with him. With a Batman Begins fashion where he approaches his plan and Alfred comments on his clothing and his gunshot wound. So what do you think?
Every time Clark lifts his feet off the ground it’s either because he’s reprogrammed by Jor_El or because he’s under red k. But I suppose that Clark is more like a solar battery. He probably uses everything up before he could fly. That’s why he could only jump. While. Kara hadn’t moved an inch so thats why she is the only character who could fly. Bizzaro Clark probably got the power from that kryptonite energy boost.

Clark was raised as a human and he didn’t always have his powers. What is keeping him from flying is his humanity and his “down home country” thinking that people shouldn’t be able to fly.
As for a Bruce Wayne cross over. YES. I’ve been waiting for the name “Wayne” to be dropped or even Gotham. My view was more along the lines of this though, which more follows the story line of the comics, but I know the show hasn’t done a whole lot of that.
Luthor, Bruce Wayne, and Oliver Queen (Green Arrow…also making this a perfect cross over for the JLA) are all millionaires. They are, among others, invited to a charity auction.
Of course, Bats didn’t come into play until after Lois AND Clark were working for the Planet, and there is/was no “Chloe” in the comics. Bruce falls for Lois, and Clark gets jealous, although he can’t really do/say anything.
There is a robbery of the charity auction house the night before, and a artifact is stolen. Clerk investigates and finds Bats is as well and due to his dark nature, Clark thinks (breifly) it was Bruce. The artifact has had some Kryponite and Clark of course is affected and the arrow comes to his rescue.
Lois ALSO is investigating her own leads and gets into trouble. See? Here it gets REALLY interesting. Bruce wants Lois as does Clark, but as Bats and Supes, they can’t say or do anything, but her previous relationship with Oliver Queen, and she knows he is the Arrow…. well, her champion will be one, while the other two take down the perp who took the artifact.
What a tangled web….
The producers have made it pretty clear that Bruce/Batman will not be making an appearance on “Smallville.”

So has it actually been confirmed that Lana does not die in season 6? I’ve just been reading a apparently legit episode guide and it only has the first 8 episodes of season 7 which include Lana, Lois and Chloe.

Yes i do watch Smallville mate lol, im watching season 6 now the last episode i watched was last night and was ‘Freak’ with the blind boy Tibious. There are seven epiodes left for me to watch on season 6, but i dont want to ruin it by watching them online, so after i have finished watchin them i will watch season 7 online as i dont want to wait a year for it to be released in the UK lol. Your story sounds great actually, but unfortunately Bruce became Batman at age 26. Clark is 18 or 20 in Season 7. In the comics they are of the same age (I think) or Clark is an year older since writers want to make reference to their original appearance (i.e S-Man:in 1938 and B-Man: in 1939). As for my fan fic, sorry not being more detailed in the story. I don’t want to ruin the surprise. I’ll have it posted before Smallville ends. Which is not easy since they only have written 16 episodes for Season 7 with the last one being a cliffhanger and if the Writers Strike continues after that say bye-bye to Heroes, Smallville, Lost and virtually every other show you been watching and loving.
Makes me wonder why they don’t open their own website and write their own fan fictions and charge $3.39 to read. Surely people would want to
read from famous writers. Anyway I’m with them, even if it means saying good bye to Smallville and
saving every penny I could find.
