smallville season 10 final promo art Smallville: Clarks Destiny Is Now Superman Promo Art

Even though Smallville doesn’t return from its winter hiatus until the end of January, the CW has made sure that for the next few weeks, fans will not be able to stop talking about the famed superhero saga.

After releasing what will most certainly be the last ever seasonal promotional art for the concluding series via DC Comic’s blog, it quickly becomes apparent even the most hardened Smallville detractor will certainly have to take pause and acknowledge how completely wonderful this promotional masterpiece is.

Playing with theme of Clark’s (Tom Welling) obvious and impending destiny, fans of the series are presented with a completely celestial image in which the soon-to-been Man of Steel stands before his familiar Kryptonian crest, all while standing on an inverted image of the House of El. Laid within the reflected image of the aforementioned inverted “S” shield, The CW directly reveals what awesomeness fans of the series can expect to see in these final set of Smallville episodes.

You can take a look at the full-size poster below:

Despite the fact that this completely wonderful promotional poster references that Clark’s destiny is “now,” with eleven episodes left in this twenty-two episode final season, it’s hard to tell exactly when within those remaining episodes we will see that happen. Fortunately, the release of this wonderfully iconic image will certainly help tide over even the most restless Smallville fan until Clark’s final transformation into Superman is complete.

Of course, for those fans that just need to know what’s in store for Smallville’s winter return, you’ll be happy to hear that not only will Black Canary (Alaina Huffman) completely return in the January 28th episode “Collateral,” but the Doctor Fate wielding Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack) will as well after going missing following the season 10 premiere. On top of that, the Suicide Squad will be the episode’s main antagonist and Clark will, once again, lose his powers.

Smallville airs on Fridays @8pm, on The CW

  1. I love this show, and that promo poster gives me geek giggles. But my goodness, Clark losing his powers again for another episode’s plot….c’mon guys! That’s such a tired idea. Let’s think of something else. And while you’re at it, maybe see about getting Green Arrow and Black Canary paired up like they should be. Otherwise, I’m still loving this show.

  2. Greatness. Gotta love this show!

  3. That. Is. Amazing!

  4. looks cool, but they will drag all us to the very end……and then do the reveal. i still think reality will be altered in that everyone will see clark with glasses as opposed to without.

  5. I think the reveal will be in the last five minutes of the final episode. Just like in last nights the final episode of “Caprica”, the last five minutes of that episode showed what a complete second season would have contained. It will be a big let down.

  6. Alright keep it in your pants.

It is a good bit of art..

  7. I’m just hoping Lex will be back.

  8. @Anthony

Very well said on the detractors of the show – it’s simply foolish of them to continuially deny the sheer awesomeness of this show.

On the image itself, well it’s simply incredible but then off course it would be, nothing else should be expected.

I’ve always had a small lingering doubt on whether the producers will fail to deliver ‘the moment’ in the true epic fashion it deserves to be, but the poster certainly indicates that this will not happen. Yes I’m probably getting too excited over one single poster but the show has always produced more often than not, especially with season finales.

Many will have different opinions, but whether it’s the final episode or not, I just hope we get a full episode of Superman in action and not just five minutes or a single shot of the costume in full. I know that budget constraints will alwyas be an issue, but I hope CW strecthes the pursestrings for what should be a monumental event in television.

Also betting right now that the final episode will be titled ‘Superman’

  9. Why do we want Lex back in Smallville, but nowhere near a movie? Haha

    • Because the Smallville version of Lex is the one that should have ALWAYS been used in the movies. No comedy. At all. Just a devious, crafty, scary, super-smart guy who hates Superman.

You know, like the one in the COMICS.

Where this idiotic, real estate-obsessed movie Lex came from is beyond me.

      • Was the real estate tycoon thing soley invented for the movies? I’m a big Superman fan but I don’t really know much about the comics before the eighties, Lex has always been a scientist or a politician to me.

        • DSM,

I haven’t been a regular Superman comics reader in ages, but while real estate was part of Lex’s empire, it wasn’t his focus by any means.

  10. I want that poster…

  11. love this show cant wait till the 28th

  12. they need to go to superman movies now and have tom welling play the role of superman on the big screen he earned it i think!@!!!!!and as far as a tv show the should two jla teen titans bolth shows do a search for heros to save the world and the search for batman

  13. @Scottiga

Agree 100% on having him emerge with the suit on the penultimate episode before a full one hour of the man of steel.

I think Lex needs to return and that the producers should do everything they can to conivince Michael Rosenbaum to comeback. I know he’s ruled out a return but an appearance for 2-3 episodes wouldn’t hurt, hopefully it’s been secretly arranged and being closely kept under wraps.

The dilemma with a Lex return is that with supposedly eleven episode remaining, you would need at least whole episode to explain him resurfacing (like they did for Lana’s return). We would then need to see back at the reigns of Luthorcorp – perhaps even convert it to Lexcorp – and then we can say ‘this is where his true battle with Superman begins’

I for one would love to see Lana also return. For all of Erica Durance’s hotness, I always preferred Kirsten Kreuk to be even more beautiful

  14. I think the way they would have Lex return is that “Alexander” the young clone that continues to age, will age quickly until he reaches Rosenbaums “age” and then his rapid aging will slow down allowing Lex Luthor to return…..

  15. Hi Smallville!
Long time hearing from you since winter begun.
Just hoping to see the new Superman!
