smallville season 10 Smallville Season 10 Photos Resurrect Jonathan Kent

Today, The CW released nine photos for the premiere episode of Smallville season 10 titled “Lazarus.” While not particularly revealing, the photos do show the triumphant return of John Schneider as Jonathan Kent.

The photos are proof of a scene that was teased at Comic-Con, in which Jonathan proclaims that Clark will become “the greatest superhero the world will never know” – while warning him that something “dark” is coming.

Hopefully, as The CW PR machine kicks into gear, these won’t be the only photos released from the Smallville season 10 premiere. With less than a month before the episode is set to air, I’m hoping we’ll get a glimpse at a few other exciting events that are set to take place. Particularly, Tess Mercer waking up in the Cadmus Labs, surrounded by the clones of Lex Luthor, or a good look at the Superman suit.

Since all of the images are similar, I’m guessing that what we see in the photos represents pretty much the entire scene between Jonathan and Clark in the premiere (Jonathan will appear in several more episodes this season).

Of course, the real question is… How exactly are they going to explain Jonathan’s return? Is it a dream/memory? Has Jonathan returned as some kind of fence-fixing ghost? Or, is there some type of Kryptonian technological-tricky going on?

I suppose we’ll have to wait until the premiere to find out that answer.

You can check out the photo gallery from the Smallville season 10 premiere below.

Putting aside the fence-fixing photos of Jonathan and Clark, I’m most intrigued by the final image – with Clark reading a letter from the mailbox. While there’s little doubt that the United States Postal Service is exciting, in the previous 9 years of Smallville being on the air, they haven’t done many “Clark reading mail” scenes. So, it has to be something important, right?

  1. Yes – they should of started this much earlier, anyone know if
kyle gallner (impulse) will return one last time before
smallville is over? hope they really go all out & have all
the Justice league heroes team up with the JSA against this
darkseid villian in a 2-hour movie! that would be halfway thru
season 10, i sure hope the final episode of smallville is at least 90 mins long, if not then at least commercial free giving us an extra 15 mins more to enjoy.

    • Episodes 10-11 might be a Justice League two parter, with JLA and JSA members.

      • They should end the show with a 4 hour episode instead of 2!!!

    • i heard darkseid wont show up til the end of the season

  2. Killing Jonathan was hardly jumping the shark, it’s an essential part of the Superman mythos.

  3. Wow, now your talking! maybe the last 2 episodes of season 10
can both be 2 hours, anyone know since Brainic 5 is now a legion
of superheroes if they plan on having Saturn girl, Cosmic boy, Lighting
lad or maybe even Mon-el appear in the 200th episode?

    • I’d like to think they might be back at some point this season, but it’s already getting a bit too crammed, with all this and a Darkseid plot, I just dont see how they are going to have time to do everything.

But in the episode with Brainiac, it’s just James Marsters returning for now. Although, it’s the 200th episode and there are bound to be some surprises they’ve kept from us. Maybe Lex?

  4. Such a great show. It is great to have Jonathan back. It is going to be an awesome season.

  5. It’s confirmed, Clark is seeing ghosts after his near death experience (so that explains Jonathan and Lionel), Lex is technically the main villain, or rather his clones are, along with Darkseids harbingers.

Chloe ends up as Doctor Fate!

  6. Hope they have an episode with Chloe putting the helmet on
& becoming Dr. Fate! I heard Hawkman is appearing in another
episode , maybe that’s when Dr. Fate (Chloe) will be heard once again.

    • wat i wanna know in season 10 how does jonathen kent get resurected’ maybiewat im thinking is gorel must of done someing’ but how did he do anything wen zod destroid the console tht made gorel n his sun interact. i just cant wait for season 10 to wait n see mr kent.

      • Jordan,

The scene with Jonathan Kent is a dream like scene. When Clark fell off the roof at the end of season 9 he will wake up at the mid point between life and death. He has the choice to either live in the dream state and die or return and become Superman. So Jonathan Kent is still dead, he is acting as Clark’s guide between life and death.

        Enjoy Season 10.

  7. U cant just give away soilers in the title like that seriosly uncool
    jus this:

  8. ohhh ..happy to be here that he come back again in the 10th season
