This Friday on Smallville, in addition to saving Metropolis from Darkseid’s influence and rescuing Lois from the nefarious Colonel Slade (perhaps Deathstroke by now), we will also get the long-awaited – although previously revealed – engagement of Lois and Clark.

With ring in tow and a little help from Hawkman to deliver a shower of white rose petals, Clark Kent will fall to one knee and propose to his one true love, Lois Lane. Set in the streets of Metropolis, this superhero proposal will take place next to a phone booth, the same phone booth where Lois first realized that Clark was, in fact, The Blur.

What Lois’ response will be to this life-changing request is no revelation. As comic book history, the Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman television series, and a glimpse into the future on Smallville have all shown, Lois and Clark belong together. Plus, we have pictures of her saying yes and their subsequent engagement party at Watchtower.

Unfortunately, it is not yet known how exactly this major life decision will impact Clark fulfilling his destiny, but a life-long relationship with the woman he loves must certainly propel the would-be man of steel one step closer to tights and flight.

In regards to Clark’s eventual battle with Darkseid, this romantic storyline – while endearing as ever – will no doubt help him stave off Darkseid’s influence. Although, we’ll have to wait and see exactly how heavy-handed the producers will be with this particular plot element.

Of course, if the handling of this current season is any reflection, I don’t think fans will have to worry too much about Clark winning the battle against Darkseid with “the power of love.”

Hopefully I am not wrong.

For now, put all worries about the eventual conclusion to Smallville aside and take a look at the engagement of Lois and Clark – from proposal to party:

  1. All I can say is… YAY!!!

  2. Can. Not. Wait.

Obviously something terrible is going to happen in this episode, otherwise why do they suddenly need the whole Justice League?

Will the proposal happen after Lois is rescued from Slade, or earlier?

What will the mid season cliffhanger be? It’ll be hard to beat season 7′s mid season ending.

    • For real. Season 7 wasn’t that great as a whole, but the cliffhanger was awesome!

  3. looks good but i just notice something there are two shots of clark on one knee one he is on the left knee on the other shot he is on the right knee whats up with that mabey two proposal

    • After looking at the photos, it could be that Clark repositions himself during the actual proposal.

What’s more likely is that they’re from two different takes of the same scene, which were cut together in the final episode.

      • or clarks dad turns back time again but clark will say hell with his father and go on with the enegament he cant live with out lois by his side.

  4. Superman suit before credits or GTFO. This back and forth tease of him finally becoming Superman is so damn frustrating. I mean, in the episode where he transports to the future, they finally did away with the ridiculous “blur” notion and actually said the name Superman. Then, I think it was Lois who translated that he is a Uber-mensch(don’t know who said this) or a Superman. Anyway, frustrating stuff. 10 years, do some flying and slap on a cape, douche! Also, Justin Hartley, you’re lovably snarky, but grow a goatee and stop wearing sunlasses indoors at night. I know, all the hip kids are into it, but you’re fighting crime, not going to a rave. Hawkman-you’re actually awesome. Please don’t change. Aquaman could be less cardboard(I blame bad dialogue) and did someone kill Flash(or impulse as he has been lamely dubbed.) Hmmmm, while I’m ranting- Lex? Please?

    • this is a show about a boy who becomes superman it taks time but he will get there so stop bi#ching and enjoy whats left of it because before long it will be over fans like you gives fans like me a bad name.

    • If he became Superman the show would be over. That’s like killing the shark before it even attacks the Orca…

  5. Clark getting engaged to Lois is joke. Clark’s true love will always be Lana Lang in Smallville. This show has shown that over and over again. He forgot about Lois as as soon as Lana returned in Bride, and he was willing to die for Lana just to get once last kiss in Requiem. The engagment is only happening because the mythos demands it. Even the showrunner Kelly Souders thinks Clark belongs with anyone but Lois. In Luthor she made him hot and sexy with Tess and as dull as dishwater with Lois. Right before the engagement. Bwahaha!

  6. cannot wait!! 1 more dayy
