smallville season 9 Smallville: First Official Pics Of Dr. Fate, Hawkman & Stargirl

With one holiday down we’re coming ever closer to the premiere of Smallville: Absolute Justice and the closer we get, the more we get to see, and today The CW has finally released some official pictures of Justice Society members Dr. Fate and Stargirl, as well as some tussling about from Green Arrow and Hawkman. Hopefully, this trend will continue so that I won’t have to spend time pulling stills from YouTube trailers.

Last week we brought you some awesome (and I do mean awesome) pictures of Dr. Fate, Sandman and a little glimpse of Green Lantern. Sure, the pictures were from a teaser trailer, but I think the general consensus was that they looked great and the excitement continued to build for this movie.

While I’m not attempting to set fans up for a fall, I do have to be completely honest and say that the pictures released today, the “official” pictures, kind of make me take pause and wonder if I’ve got things all wrong with how “awesome” I thought the costumes looked.

Let me just show you this pictures now and we can talk after, if you’re still in the mood.

Is it just me or do you see a big difference between the photos released today and the ones released previously? Even the pictures of Hawkman that we previously showed didn’t look this… odd? I’m not saying that they look bad, I’m just saying that they look, kind of, janky.

Still, far be it for me to say something bad about Smallville as they’ve had a great run this season and I think maybe I can justify these pictures… They’re bad pictures. That’s all. Really bad pictures. If you look at Green Arrow, his costume looks horrible as well and in the series, I love his costume. I think that these pictures are too bright and too “staged” so they give off this weird vibe. I have a feeling that when it comes down it, when we see them on the screen, they’ll look amazing (well, maybe except for Stargirl).

…fingers crossed.

Am I being too harsh? Do these costumes look good in the pictures?

Maybe I’m still full of Tryptophan from all that turkey and need someone to set me straight.

  1. Whoa, that’s dangerous talk!!!! I hope you enjoy it!

  2. I think maybe you guys are right about the previous photos coming from a flashback so that’s why they’re more gritty.

  3. @Dr sambeckett absolute justice wont be a two parter either it was, but now its just been seamlessly combined into one long Film!

  4. Those costumes do look like crap to me, especially Stargirl’s; and where is Green Lantern’s costume? Hopefully these pictures aren’t any indication of how the 2-hour episode will go.

  5. @M-Cat
Please enjoy every single episode of Smallville! PLEASE!!! 8-)

  6. I was replying to Gary’s comment about Legion being a two parter, when it clearly was just a single episode. I am well aware Absolute Justice is two episodes spliced into a two hour event.

  7. They will keep Green Lantern a surprise till the episode is shown, and he might only appear at the very end, or staying out of sight. Why is it that the JSA have remained hidden all this time, and that no one has heard of them?

  8. @ sambeckett i think amanda waller might have something to do with the Cover up!

  9. Ah I forgot her character was in it, for at least five episodes I think I heard. And the Martian Manhunter returns in Absolute Justice.

It’s a shame they ditched the one word titles, it’s one of Smallvilles things! Coulda just called it Legends!

  10. Well, andre, opinions vary. One man’s crap can be another man’s Picasso. I’m sure if you looked at a Salvidor Dali painting, you would think its crap. You have different tastes than I do; that does not make my tastes crap just as yours is not crap to you, they are your tastes.

  11. @sambecket i kinda likes that they finally used a two word title! would have been cool if it was Absolute Legends since amanda waller’s first appearance was in the issue legends!

  12. @Andre

I just deleted a bunch of your comments because they were out of line and you’re responding to people like some spoiled child.

  13. Wow. People keep saying how bad they look but I like them. I got excited when I saw them, and scrolled down to see how excited everyone else was and then was somewhat put off. I think they look awesome and can’t wait to see them in action. But, you know, perspective and such.

  14. haha i so agree that Lana was an annoying character, hated her.. ye i know portraying clark kent isnt easy, and he isnt horrible, but hes not good.

i like the costumes, they seem fair enough, looking forward to the episode:)

  15. @hunt thejest i agree the pics are great these peopel have no clue they’re costumes are awesome!

  16. They look just like the Minute men from Watchmen to me, which in itself was influenced by the Justice society anyway.
What do people expect from Smallville anyway, these are probably the best costumes they have produced yet!
This isn’t The Dark Knight folks!(I hate Batman’s costume in that film anyways.)

  17. @the glove i agree batman’s costume in TDK was pure crap Robocop reject outfit!lol and these are the best costumes by smallville yet! and glove did you know this Movie was actually filmed on the sets of WATCHMEN!

  18. I’m glad someone mentioned TDK, I think it’s the reason people are ripping on these costumes. You know, not every superhero property has to be all doom and gloom, let some colour back into our superheroes!!!! I miss colour!!!!

  19. @brodieBruce agreed i Love the costumes and there perfect1 did u know Pam ” foxy brown” Grier Amanda waller! wow!

  20. like the way you touched it up i like stargirls look regardless shes a cutie!lol brodie bruce are u good at movie fx? and are u in nyc??

  21. I miss brightly coloured superheroes.

  22. @sambeckett i agree i want brightly colored superheroes too tire of all this gloom and doom TDK crap

  23. they remind me of the 80′s version of batman and robin heheheh

  24. @jwalk yeah cause 80s batman and robin had plated body armor? riiight

  25. I never said I don’t like how these guys appear in these costumes. I just prefer a certain style and I meant no offense to anyone who likes the show. I haven’t even seen it yet.

Another thing, I was watching the Batman and Robin movie with Clooney, Chris O’Donnell, Uma and Arnold and it’s a very colorful movie but that doesn’t mean it’s any better. In fact, it’s probably the worst Batman movie of all of them.

  26. @MCAT sorry dissagree TDK was the worst crappiest Batman movie of all time u have bad taste. Batman and robin was fun there were flaws but at least it was enjoyable and not the overwrought pretentious trite Crap TDk was!
