Smallville Season 10 Episode 5: ‘Isis’ Spoilers Discussion

In tonight’s episode of Smallville, Lois becomes Clark’s newest antagonist as the ancient necklace she found while in Egypt transforms her into Isis, complete with superpowers and the thirst for a sacrificial lamb, or this case, sacrificial Kryptonian. Luckily, Oliver (now with his own breakfast cereal) is ready to suit up as Green Arrow and provide a friendly hand, or arrow, to help Clark out of his Egyptian predicament.

Of course, the big news is that Clark finally reveals to Lois that he is the Blur. Something that probably would have been better if she didn’t already know. For those who were wondering why Clark didn’t reveal this to Lois last week, it was because while he wanted to tell Lois his secret, he also wanted to let her know that he loved her and enjoy that moment, rather than blurting out “I’m the Blur” and making it complicated. At least, that’s what Smallville executive producer Brian Peterson said. Cute, right?

Lois (Erica Durance) decides to tell Clark (Tom Welling) she knows he’s The Blur, but she accidentally activates an ancient artifact that transforms her into the Goddess Isis, complete with superpowers of her own.  Oliver (Justin Hartley) and Clark reluctantly decide to ask Tess (Cassidy Freeman) for help with Lois.  Meanwhile, after Cat Grant (guest star Keri Lynn Pratt) witnesses Lois as Isis using her superpowers, she decides Lois is the Blur and sets out to prove it.

  1. I have to agree with a couple other posters. Seeing “conservative” type characters being portrayed as ignorant and shallow individuals is quite disheartening. When Cat said “I don’t understand Liberals” I couldn’t help roll my eyes..really, is this what the writers want to do, alienate half their viewing audience to score some cheap points in the final season?
We watch Smallville because it is fun and for the most part family friendly entertainment. We don’t watch it to be enlightened by writers who feel it necessarsy to belittle a lot of their viewers.

I turly hope this doesn’t continue, I loved the last two episodes, but they both came with a sour aftertaste that just didn’t need to be there.

    • Agreed. I watch “Smallville” for the action, fun, and science-fiction. Man of Steel goes up against an all powerful being, and the fate of the world is up for grabs.

      • I find it highly amusing – an added touch of spice.

        • The problem is that people in the country do support imigration, most people support controlled imigration.

Calling people biggots or labeling them antiimigration is not honest and only showing one side of a grown up discussion.

  2. I just remembered about JLU animated series about how it was implied that Lex Luthor was running as a Independant as it was mentioned he ahead of both major parties in polls. Also In the episode Crash, Captain Marvel sure did sound like a liberal. Lol i did like how Superman kinda chewed him out at the conferance table. Superman: We don’t take sides, we don’t sale info commcercials-Flash turns head, lol, & certainly do not endorse super villains for the presidensy. Then Capt. Marvel says maybe he’s changed, Superman sayin things aren’t that simple and Marvel slams hand down sayin maybe they can be, can’t they?

  3. To get back to the “memory wipe” issue with Lois. If everyone recalls in homecoming Lois says that their anniversary, which is the day Clark told her about his secret, was so romantic and it was such an important day for her……Obviously, Clark telling Lois in the basement of the Daily planet, or wherever that was in Isis, is not the day she is referring to. Lois will, unfortunately be stripped of this memory most likely by Jor-el before Clark dons the suit……And then after he is Superman he will decide one day to tell Lois his secret….again….after he has to rebuild their relationship pretty much from scratch…

    • The fact that Clark went to the future is set. He has always gone into the future because Superman/Clark was expecting him and let him save Lois while he took care of that nuclear explosion. But, it doesn’t mean that he can’t change the way and day and place he told Lois his “not so” secret. I think.

  4. The “memory wipe” gimmick is so overused, and would turn me off from the show. That would be a bad way to end the series in my opinion. This particular Superman story line (Smallville) has already deviated far from the past versions, that not having a Lois Lane cognizant of Clark’s secret is ludicrous at this time.

I believe this will be one Superman whom many will know that he is also Clark Kent. I mean, think about it. How many people in Smallville, and Metropolis know Clark, and what he looks like?

It should be interesting to see how the rest of the season goes, but the writers would have to be more than clever to come up with a way to “blur” (no pun intended) the distinction between the two.

  5. I’d just like to say that regarding Superman being an illegal immigrant, he’s legally adopted Martha and Johnathan Kent…

    sooooooo, yeah :)

    • (he’s legal)

  6. In the comics he is legal.
Didnt they imply in the second Season that Lionel fastracked Clarks adoption?
It may still be legal, but it wasnt a typical adoption Most people dont get help from a Billionaire with the beauracracy.

    • But in Clark’s case, he did

  10. Yeah, OK, my fault, I opened a can of worms with my initial comment, but I think the political discussion has gone far enough.

    Vic

    • Alright guys, you heard Vic.

Lois was freaking hilarious in this episode! “The sick to my stomach” HAHA!!! Very cute ending, very good episode :)

    • Vic, my intention wasnt to cause finger pointing and chaos on this site, I just dont believe that this is the place for it… Then again, its your site not mine… I’m sorry if I stated my opinion and someone read it wrong… My intention was to get past the bad mouthing and finger waving… Again, I am sorry…

  11. Personally I wish Lois had punched Cat
TV has never got Cat Grant right.
    and its not just Smallville
Lois and Clark didnt get it right either.

  12. I’ve watched Smallville from the beginning and have been very disappointed over the last few years. The writing was sub-par, story telling was incoherent and choppy, and the show didn’t seem to have any clear direction. Perhaps a lack of sufficient funds also added disappointment to the season ending pay offs. We waited all season for the fight between Clark and Doomsday and I felt very ripped off. Worse, they did the same thing with Zod. What a waste of potential! So, I’m sure it’s understandable why I considered skipping this last season altogether. Boy, am I glad that I didn’t! Did they bring in a whole new crew for this show?? Because it can’t be the same people working on it this year. This has been excellent: tight storylines with a clear purpose and focus, writing that actually makes sense and delivers with true emotional relevance, and acting that has been moving and heartfelt. Erica Durance has sold it so well in the last 2 episodes. She has been fantastic. The way she looked at Clark after he saved her in the helicopter, just priceless. And then the “I’m the Blur” scene. Just look at her face, her mannerisms, her body motion. She sold disappointment and then exhilaration so, so well! I’ve watched that scene 4 times and it gets me every time. So well done. I just wanted to share my excitement for what they’ve been able to do so far and I SO look forward to the rest of the season. I’m so glad I stuck with it, it’s been excellent in every way!

    • The fact is that Superman has always been about Lois and Clark. I mean after all, he’s invincible, and except for green rocks, a protaganist without flaws does not usually a great story make. But he has compassion and cares deeply for the vulnerable people around him and that’s where the drama comes from, and obviously there’s one person in particular. I have to admit I was not crazy about Erica Durance when she first arrived. Not raven haired, somewhat rude (especially to Clark), and somewhat quirky. But over the past couple years as the show came closer to the recognizable Superman mythos, she has just nailed it. (I note that her hair has mysteriously gotten darker over time). The love story has overwhelmed the rest of the show and in a good way. Whenever the two of them are in a room the atmosphere is absolutely electric. You want them to be in love, you care for them being in love, and you root for them in their efforts. Although I would probably be tuning in for years if the show went on, it is unfortunately a TV truism that when the lead couple get together, its the beginning of the end. So, I think this came at a good time for the series. Hopefully, it won’t just die at year’s end but will come back in some form from time to time with these actors. I don’t watch series TV as a rule, but I am a full-fledged fan of Smallville.

  13. The music that was playing at the end of the episode was really great.

  14. Question: In the episode where Lois & Clark went to their Reunion, that woman that Brainiac 5 was with, was she that teacher who was a fugitive that Chloe got the truth about herself in the episode (Truth)? I think it was a season 3 episode. In the upcoming episode Abandon, if Lois does lose her memory of Clark’s powers, should’t somthing like that wait till closer till end of the season?

    • Regarding the woman; I’m not sure. I remember the season 3 episode, but I don’t remember if that’s who it was. I’ll have to watch that episode again and find out…

    • the producers have said lois will not get memory wiped about clark’s secret

  15. I dont think it was a returning chracter.
She just blamed Clark for making her life more dificult.
It was irrational, but it can be in real life too.

  16. just watched last weeks smallville cuz cwtv just added it lol

it was awesome :) glad they finally told each other…..lois was hilarious

  17. The last two episodes have been pulling at my heart strings like no episode before. I like the action and scenes of battle in previous episodes but never though it would bring out the romantic in me like is has recently. The acting by Erica and Tom makes you believe they are truly in love and makes you want to be them. My hat is off to the directing of the new season. Bravo. Well done.
