Smallville: Season 10 Will Be Its Last
May 19, 2010 by Anthony OcasioThe day that Smallville fans have been dreading is finally here. The CW will announce on Thursday that the long-running superhero drama will be ending after Season 10.

After a truly amazing ninth season finale, Smallville fans were hoping to catch a glimpse of the promised 2013 future in which Clark Kent has thrown The Blur costume away and finally become Superman.
Unfortunately, that day will never come as The CW is set announce on Thursday, during their upfront, that Smallville season 10 will also be the series’ last.
Tom Welling, proving that not only is he faster than a speeding bullet, but also The CW’s public relations, revealed the news of Smallville’s final season to Hollywood Life while attending a party celebrating the release of legendary film producer Jerry Weintraub’s new book. Welling said:
“Season 10 of Smallville will be the last season”
While the news is a huge blow to Smallville fans that have invested nine years in the series, keep in mind that there’s still one more season left. With the foreshadowing provided in the season 9 finale, there’s a good chance that the season 10 will not only be its last, but also its best.
We all know that by the end of Smallville, Clark has to not only fly, but also become Superman. Hopefully, with all the “training” required for him to reach those goals, The CW will at least give us a couple episodes with Clark as the legendary Man of Steel, instead of waiting until the final moments of the series finale to have him don his infamous red and blues (but don’t bet on it).
Unfortunately, no matter how much flying Clark does, there will still be one big piece of the Superman puzzle missing: Lex. A couple of months ago, actor Michael Rosenbaum stated that he will not be returning to Smallville. Although, with Smallville coming to an end, maybe his former cast members can coax him into returning – even if it is only for one episode.
…a man can dream, right?

Hey all ok so 1st of all let me say I love this show and i don’t want it to end but sadly all good things have to end and I have always love the superman idea my hold life and the superman idea has always been in my family when my cousin Mark died last year at 27 years old, 27 !!!
we all knew he was going to go and so we had superman everywhere in the hospital room. On his birthday this year. My brother my husband my aunt Kim (Mark mom) and myself all went to his grave site with superman balloons, superman pics and a superman hat. My aunt Kim get a tattoo of the superman simble with Marks football # 82 inside it and wings so let me just say I love that I can sit and watch the show he love so much and when my family get enough money we are going to be get him a superman headstone and now I see the appall that Mark saw in ‘superman’ now I don’t want it to end with smallville

As far as I’m concerned the quality of this TV series took a major dip after season 6. Season 7, 8, and 9 have been very poor compared to the earlier seasons and I don’t expect season 10 to be much better. The writers have strayed too far away from the main concept of the show which is suppose to be about how Clark develops into superman. I will still watch season 10 but it will be more out of intrigue than expectation.
ok if youve all seen that clarck was faling i think youl know that he might fly there in the last season finaly when he was fighting against zod so he might fly on the first episode i think

one of the best shows ever put on tv by far SUPERMAN ….AS A KID I LOVED IT AND WILL ALWAYS LOVE IT … MY NEPHEW IS 2 he loves superman …………….this show needs to keep going so people have something to beleave in in this crazy world we live in …
Ok I can see what David is saying about the series not staying true to the old Superman storyline , well it took me sometime to come to terms with this fact and you know ITS not the same story ?.
The Superman we have been weened on is Twentieth Century , this is the 21st Century take on the same concept .
However it’s been stylised by the fact the writers have been constricted to what they can write by the original authors copyright , and by the fact they wont let them write what they want .
Hence we have a completely new twist on an old story, and to be honest I dont think they have done that bad with the restrictions they have had placed on them .
I do think that the Production team at The CW has greatly underestimated the impact this series has had , although I do understand the actors want to move on ( from a series that paved their way to stardom who’d figure ? ) and try new things I wish them well .
But I don’t beleive that they will achieve the same popularity in any other production ( take the demenial role Mis Kreuk has in Chuck now )
as they have in Smallville .
It is time for the Producers of this series to listen to it’s fans , we will watch this till Superman draws his pension ? and although it would take some getting used to it don’t need to be the same actors in the same roles if they don’t want to do it get new ones .. ( you don’t change your car because it wants a new wiper blade do you ,you get a new one and it does an even better job as the old one has had it’s time ?)
Lets see Clark ( whoever plays him ) finaly done the suit that takes him into history and the Justice league , this story is far from over .
Remember they nearly cancelled Star Trek and look what happened to that biggest money making series in history ?.
Come on CW wake up and smell the coffee and give us what we want .. Smallville series 20 ..
I wonder how they will depict Granny Goodness & Darkseid this season. Hopfully we’ll see Darkseid and Clark in the final episode in costume duke it out & not have Darkseid lookin human himself when if they do. It wouldn’t surprise me if they gave Darkseid a human looking appearance throughout the season just as they did with Brainiac & Doomsday.
Don’t END this series at 10th season, make it two more to return Michael Rosenbaum (Lex) as a main villain for Clark, Olsen returning and Perry White becoming editor just like in comics.
So events must not be altered because all gonna blew up, just like other shows like X-Files, Twin Peaks, Dark Shadows 1991, Buffy (Buffy to my opinion was good ’till season 4, season 5 appearence of Buffy’s wineing sister and other things should that shouldn’t happen).

I’ve just read that season 11 might happen if enough fans watch. I know CW said season 10 would be the last but if the ratings were really high they’re bound to change their minds.
Just read the following in an article:
“Star Tom Welling clarifies that not only if enough fans watch that Season 11 could happen, but also co-star Allison Mack WILL indeed be back but in a “limited” role.”
Tom’s message is clear, he wants to do more seasons and he needs help with the ratings from the fans to be able to persuade CW.
So everyone please don’t miss an episode of Season 10 and encourage all your friends and family to watch it, even if they don’t like the show just ask them to leave the TV on while they go do something else.
i agree i would hate to see the show canceled. i own all the seasons so far never miss a episode. its one of the few tv shows i enjoy watching, lets hope we can keep it alive a little while longer. i would love to see michael rosenbaum come back.LETS KEEP IT GOIN, i will certainly try
I wonder if hell be in the suit if series 11 happens cause hes gonna wear it at the end of season 10 according 2 reports and we no he flys if youv seen the season 10 trailer i think season 11 should be called metropolis or something with him i nthe suit forming the justuice league i think tha wud be awsome!

Where did you read about Season 11 if i may ask? I read somewhere Chloe will be killed in Season 10. I read about season 10 that Granny Goodness will make few appearances along with other woman, maybe Femal Furies? Sad thing is even though he’d pulling behind the curtain scenes, Darkseid wont be seen till the last episode i think. John Schneider i think will be back for a episode and maybe Lana in the last episode herself. Tom Welling himself is tryin to talk Michael Rosenbaum into makin a appearance as Lex somwhere near the end of the season. We’ll see more of Hawkman, and see Blue Beetle & Booster Gold. I’ll be sure to tune in this season cause from what i read, Welling talked like they’re gonna make this season the mother of them all, especially the finale.

If there is a season 11, i hope they rename the show to Metropolis which would be more suitable aswell as new and fresh. Id like to see him continue on with the suit on and have Erica Durance back as Lois Lane too and hopfully talk Michael rosenbaum into it. I think it would be as great of a show as Lois & Clark was in the 90′s.
This has been a great show off and on, I think their have been some great episodes and ideas but some have been so out of control for example, season 3. It has however gotten much better lately with more supermanish moments instead of sappy love crap written for twilight fans. I think if Clark sacks up and starts really being the man of steel we all want to see they maynhave a chance. Let’s see the flight, the suit, some dark side smack down, and that famous 50′s haircutbwith the curl.
Hey guys. Been reading this site for a while via email and hope the fans come together to save this show. It’s one of a kind and keeps getting better. As far as chloe, the guy from the future said that they didn’t even know Chloe, so she is pretty much out…what gets me though is that she has been his right hand for so long, maybe they knock clark in the head with kryptonite or something…it’s kinda a shame that he will not remember her. Would be nice to see Lex return, hopefully Tom Welling can talk him into it…it’s gotta be about money, Lex is holding out for all he can get cause he knows he’s in demand (at least for this show). It will be really great to have Kara return…I really liked her a lot in the show and she kinda added a lot of fun to the show by constantly harrassing Clark
I say hold off on the flying in season 10 till the very last hour…Then bring Metropolis the following fall…otherwise Clark is going to have to super speed to Smallville to feed the dog a lot more lol. Great to see his Mom in the show last season and hopefully she will be guest starring a little more in the next season. Whatever they decide to do, I’m just glad I have 9 seasons on DVD to always look back at a great show…but hopefully a spin off will carry the same show for a long while to come! Great Job to all the actors!!!!
Maybe the reason why they said that they didnt know chloe in the future was because maybe she changed her identity . Because in the season 10 trailer you she her picking up a golden helment (unclear on what superhero it is ) . It could be possible that maybe she becomes a superhero and she doesnt use the name chloe anymore , I mean that could be the reason why the future justice league didnt know her name.

Where do i go to see the season trailer? Is it on youtube? Golden helmet, I wonder if she gets chosen as the next Dr. Fate. Epecially when in the Abolsute Justice episode Fate tells her she shares the same path as he does or somthing like that. From what i read though, Allison Mack won’t be a series regular this season despite she’ll appear in few episodes throughout plus i read she might ends being killed by protecting Oliver Queen. They didnt get into detail on how.
Best show in my opinion, it seems that these companies are cutting their own throats. They get a series that is loved, followed and respected by so many then axe the damn thing just cause the ratings fluctuate a little.
I for one will give up on all series and not support any more if they keep doing this. I LOVE this series and want it to continue and know that millions will agree with me. So cummon guys in the big chairs, desks and cigars…cut out the BS and do a little something for the public instead of the bank accounts for a change, i promise you won’t lose out in the end.

Save this show and increase it’s ratings, like last few seasons and don’t end it untill 12th and final season, how we see in Clark’s dream/vision.
Lex Luthor (Rosenbaum) should definitely return even for a full season or a few episodes because he portrays Lex better than anyone, return of Perry White and Jimmy Olsen (his little brother) to lead to events from 2013 and Clark ascension to fulfill his destiny as our fictional savior, Superman.
there making a huge mistake by letting go of a good series when theres so many devoted fans out there and they could still do so much, i know i will lose alot of interest in cw shows if they do cancel it right away. they need to give fans a chance to respond its been a great ride so far i think. lets try to keep it goin
I cant believe that the 10th season is the last one! It’s sad i actually learned my english from smallville haha ^^, i watched the seasons all over again and then without the text, good memories.. i had my boyfriend to watch it with me all the times! Smallville is the BEST serie ive ever watched there is so many feelings per episode.. There is always one part i gotta cry,laugh,scream,jump and paus each episode.. you guys are doing a big misstake if u are killing this show! Atleast there shall be 3 more seasons like the other guys are saying. There is so much more we would like to see, are you guys really thinking when u are gonna cut this show? I dont think so, this show is freaking famous and got alot of fans! Kill the show and u guys are deffinitly killing the shows fans too, becouse my life will break when this show ends and im pretty sure im not the only one with feelings like this! Season 10 should assume coming of Darkseid on Earth to season finale, and Clark’s fight with him at the end of season 11, if there will be, that depends of ratings, just like Zod on episode “Doomsday” who came with kandorians, and then sent on New Krypton in “Salvation” among the others.
Don’t finish it this fall, finish it after 2 years besides that.

Darkseid come as a form of a dark force and appears in season finale materialized to be the villain for 11th season.
What I’m wondering is if Chloe dies. Since she was never in the comics, I think, I thought they were going to kill her off. I already figured out that Chloe and Oliver’s relationship will never happen and maybe Dinah will sweep in as Oliver’s new serious interest (since she is married to him in the comics afterall).
But yeah, since I’m kind of a fan of Chloe I really want to know if she dies -.-

All of you guys are making your point. We are all HUGE fans of Superman and i think the closest thing that i ever have of Supermans is the smallville show. Definitely they will bring tears to us if it ends, but that’s what the mystery is about. They do this all the time. They tend to make us fall for this show so bad, then disappoint us but then (hopefully) they will surprise us with a movie finale of smallville where it all comes to an end. I pretty sure that the cast and crew of smallville and so as the board members of CW knows that it’s alot at stake here. If they are fans like us, then they should do something. Superman is a part of Tom Wellings life, i know he is not going to let go of this, hope he finds a solution or a new network that can support the show. As for us FANS, we can only hope that it wont be the end of smallville. They changed alot in the shows that is not on the comic book. It’s its really good/interesting. Superman and Lois, Superman and Lex and all other dark sides that superman have fight, its going to be in a show or movie (prays). Let give the last season our full support so CW will open their eyes and so as the cast and crews.
I would really like to see it continue after this year. Recently had all seasons on dvd — SOLD NEEEDED CASH. I will be getting it again. Love the whole cast. Love to see Lana and Lex for an episode or 2.

I like Lois and Clark better and if Lana comes back im pretty sure that Clark will leave Lois and go back to Lana as always… -.- And btw in the 9th season’s end Clark falled down from a roof with the blue krypton knife in hes.. chest? Whatever i just wondered if he is gonna fall all the way down or if he or something else is saving him from the fall? I betted with my friends that he is gonna fall all the way down ^^ and it looked like he did that in the ”trailer”.. =) All my friends thought that he was gonna pull out the knife and start to fly ;p I really look forward for the 10th season!:D
They shouldn’t end this series, they should bring all central rogues in this series and end about 2 or 3 years after this one, or they can prepare a spin-off like Metropolis to have a continuity.
Anyway they should bring all DC Comics characters and villains in this show.
Smallville has been my favorite show for years since the pilot. I dont have all seasons but my dad promises to get it “not a chance” so far he has been sporting a dark suit which i very much like but he has also been seen to sport two different versions of the superman outfit. You can see the new amazing suit as well as the others by looking up SMALLVILLE JUSTICE LEAGUE!!!!!!!!! by the way… wheres Kara…?
It would be so amazing if they were to bring batman into the big picture. If there were a season 11 or METROPOLIS spinoff the dark knight would surely bring in the ratings. Since Chrisrian Bael is in the batman movies already they should have the last guy who played as James Bond to play him. Why isnt Chloe dead yet, of course she’s his right hand man but she’s the reason bad things happen. She wouldnt let them stop doomsday which reverted to him becoming stronger and Jimmy would still be alive! But she blames Clark for being “weak” and not “trusting to leave problems in his hands” as she stated to Oliver season nine the same episode it was introduced that she and the modern robin day hood were dating.
They have to end it at Season 10. Smallville has been all about Clark Kent learning who he is and training to become the superhero we all know and love. I feel if they continue the series with him as Superman then the quality of the show will diminish. The final show should be Clark fighting off Darkseid and realizing that he is SUPERMAN! After the victory maybe reintroduce Lex and have Clark realize that his mission to be a protector and a symbol has only begun. I would then introduce him flying through Metropolis and over earth with the John Williams Superman theme with it transferring into the Krypton theme and end with Clark flying towards the camera! That would be dope
