Smallville: Season 10 Will Be Its Last

After a truly amazing ninth season finale, Smallville fans were hoping to catch a glimpse of the promised 2013 future in which Clark Kent has thrown The Blur costume away and finally become Superman.
Unfortunately, that day will never come as The CW is set announce on Thursday, during their upfront, that Smallville season 10 will also be the series’ last.
Tom Welling, proving that not only is he faster than a speeding bullet, but also The CW’s public relations, revealed the news of Smallville’s final season to Hollywood Life while attending a party celebrating the release of legendary film producer Jerry Weintraub’s new book. Welling said:
“Season 10 of Smallville will be the last season”
While the news is a huge blow to Smallville fans that have invested nine years in the series, keep in mind that there’s still one more season left. With the foreshadowing provided in the season 9 finale, there’s a good chance that the season 10 will not only be its last, but also its best.
We all know that by the end of Smallville, Clark has to not only fly, but also become Superman. Hopefully, with all the “training” required for him to reach those goals, The CW will at least give us a couple episodes with Clark as the legendary Man of Steel, instead of waiting until the final moments of the series finale to have him don his infamous red and blues (but don’t bet on it).
Unfortunately, no matter how much flying Clark does, there will still be one big piece of the Superman puzzle missing: Lex. A couple of months ago, actor Michael Rosenbaum stated that he will not be returning to Smallville. Although, with Smallville coming to an end, maybe his former cast members can coax him into returning – even if it is only for one episode.
…a man can dream, right?

I have been watching this series since it first started when I found it was on while in England.. i couldn’t believe it. They havent done a series like this since superboy. I know they have done Lois & Clark, but it really didnt tell much of the story. I am a die hard fan and have been a superman fan ever since I was a kid. If the CW truly is calling it quits why dont they make it into a movie? Look at all the remade movies being made(A-team,karate kid,batman begins Koo dos to Christian Bale-T4 was awesome to be an extra in and to see you in scene ) I know they made a Superman returns which was good, but they just quit that as well due to money.. I thought Brandon played a good role as Superman, but when you have such a strong series like Smallville going on it is more memorable since we all see Tom Welling as CK and thats just hard to adjust after 9yrs. Christopher Reeves (R.I.P) played the all time Man of Steel and can never be replaced in our hearts. Tom Welling would have some big shoes to fill but he has been in a lot of fans eyes as CK. CW needs to step it up and bring CK up to speed to be Superman. I am not talking about leaving it for the last Episode since what would be the point of that to leave their fans wanting more just to end it regardless. Believe me in my opinion if the CW and Smallville producers got together and said we are making a movie there would not be a money issue since there are a lot of smallville fans that would pay to see it. I have all the seasons and already spent 300.00-320.00 on all so I know I am not the only one. If the cast is willing to play the roles with minor changes if needed i dont know why the storyline has to end since there is more to the story to tell. I think from Season 10 ep 1 they should start off strong like they did in season 9. Yes Lois should definitely know he is the blur/Superman. I know she knew by his kiss but if fans can remember in Superman movies all he did was kiss her and she forgot. I am not saying that should happen since ive been waiting a long time for her to know and would be unfitting for it to go back that way since it will be the last season. CK needs to fly by now since without that ability he appears to be weak.I know a lot of this series has jumped from the original version, but hes now in Metropolis and a big let down if hes not flying by now. Producers and Writers need to think long and hard about this last season. Theyve heard all inputs now put it together for a strong finish in series, and ponder on possible movies from this series. I for one will pay to see it and hell if I am needed as an extra wherever I am stationed you got my vote.

Man, for being such huge fans what the show is seems to be lost on most of you. It is a COMING OF AGE story. The premise of the story is on CLARK KENT BEFORE he becomes superman. It HAS to end soon, and honestly I would not be suprised if they already had an idea like the metropolis story line so many have mentioned in the works ready to take over and they were just keeping it under lock n key till the end. Come on, the ratings are too high and all that would have to change would be Clark FINALLY puts on the tights. He wont put em on in smallville till the last second for that reason, smallville IS NOT about superman, but clark kent coming into his own as superman. So yes, sadly, the show has to end but it doesnt mean it wont be the start of something greater.
A Television movie idea? Stupid, they always have low budgets and are crappy, hollow shells of their former show just made to milk out a few more cents. I WOULD NOT see smallville discraced like that. They should make a new show, one with superman.
I hope there will not be an end for this amazing show.
Im really sad to see this show go. I love all the characters and own every season on DVD upto date. Only 22.. and live close by to where they filmed early episodes. So ya, thank you to Tom Welling, Justin Hartley, Kristin Kreuk, Michael Rosenbaum, Allison Mack, Sam Jones III, Annette O’Toole, John Schneider, Eric Johnson, John Glover, Erica Durance, Jensen Ackles, Aaron Ashmore, Cassidy Freeman, Laura Vandervoort, Samuel Witwer, Callum Blue for being amazing actors. Must say your shows uplifting message and characters has helped me through some tough times. So once again thank you for your time and dedcation: Everyone involved!! Your amazing people and reach out to those that need insiring the most!! Dont stop here!! Superman.. The show? CW.. Hmm?

yea seriously i personally like the metropolis idea. the end of something great and the start of something greater. but honestly stop crying about the ending of the show and speak up about the metropolis idea cause as a huge fan of smallville i really want this metropolis thing to work out. besides i wanna see what darkseid would looke like if he showed up. but if he does decide to drop in i dont think it will be another take over the world scheme because we have seen all that before, but i see him as lookin for the anti life equation and he will kill everyone who gets in his way. but if clark is the hero we all know and love..he will be there to stand in darkseids way…big fight anyone.
The final season – so exciting!
I just hope Chloe dies in such a way that it’s mega-memorable moment in Smallville history (Jonathan Kent’s style) and maybe even result in Clark’s final step into being Superman?
Also, we need a REALLY good way to tie up the glasses / secret identity. I know people have mentioned a mask, but it’s just not very well, Superman is it?
As for flying, we’ve seen plenty of guys flying around now in Smallville so I think it would be good to start the series off with Clark flying. He doesn’t have to wear the costume so we still have room for progression, but the flying needs to happen (who’s with me?).
Speaking of the costume, didn’t Martha give him the costume wth a note saying “if you decide to stay” – which he did decide to do?
The whole Lois, Clark, Blur triangle seems to be working well, we just need Lois to convince the Blur to come out into the open as a hero (Superman!).
Apart from that, I’m up for anything – can’t wait.
According to Kryptonsite, the next episode is called Lazarus.
Actually anytime Clark goes back in time someone dies – so maybe his travel back in time is to fix something and in doing so he inadvertently fixes the glasses issue too.
But sadly when he gets back there are serious consequences resulting in Chloe’s death

Growing up as a child of the 90′s One of the best cartoons was Superman: The Animated Series. And now that I own the whole series on DVD, I was watching them a couple weeks ago and realized something. There needs to be ONE episode in season 10 with Mr. Mxyzptlk! Shoot, Gilbert Godfrey’s not doing anything else. And with the current writers I have faith that that could be one awesome/hilarious episode!

I think they covered Mxy in their version already in season 4. He just wasnt the funny guy we knew from the comics. If they dont continue with a new show they could simply title Metropolis, I hope they atleast give us a couple of tv movies with Tom Welling as Superman and wearing his costume of-course.
Smallville series finale should be 12th season, with Female Furies in 10th as a boss, 11th Darkseid’s servants and ultimate Darkseid as a boss, 12th season should be an ultimate powerfull boss and Clark rising as Superman.
Even if he’s got the suit, the darkest hour haven’t passed, Clark has to have more adventures with Justice League and Legion, and facing more monsters besides Doomsday, vampires, zombies has we seen in last few seasons. And we should not forget about return of Lex Luthor and Perry White, and Lex run for presidency.
I can not believe you people are taking this great show off the air after we’ve given you nine year of our devotion. You’ve got to know that this show is just about ready to go to the next level. What are you thinking? Don’t the fans mean anything to you people. As far as killing off Chloe, thats a dum thing to do, though i do agree with the Avengers Idea but Superman always works and he has been there for a very long time. Don’t mess up a good thing.
smallville ending is sad but i think its fitting because they have been on air for 10 good years.i hope in season 10 finale they have the justice league and clark[superman]fighting with the villain be whoever it will and finally clark reveals his identity to lois as he is cheered on by citizens of metropolis he lift lois up and fly away to the sunset end.
I think that they should make a new show staring the Green Arrow/Justin Hartley!! he’s gorgous,and he was the best character in my opinion although i did like clark but i enjoyed more of oliver:$ !!
Emma, there is an aquaman pilot that you can probably download from somewhere, the show didnt take off so it’s only one episode but justin plays aquaman in it
Don’t you seem to find that just as something gets really good they take it off , now when Clark can become more than just hiding in the shadows as the Blur they end it ?.
Is it because Tom has got too big for his cape and is turning his back on the series that made him a household name , as did Mr Rosenbaum Lex no more will we see him fade into oblivion.
CW you have a winning show here watched in Countries all around the Globe , give us what we want a season 11 with all the baddies that the original writers Siegel and Schuster could have dreamed up .

What would be the point is Tom didn’t wear the Superman outfit? Isn’t that what we have been all waiting for?
Should be 12 years of Smallville (see Superman The Movie when Jor-El takes a young Clark Kent on the journey through 28 known Galaxies, he says that 12 earth years will passed). 12 years since Smallville has started, so return of Lex and Jimmy Olsen, Perry White coming as a editor should really happen has we see in Clark’s dream/vision, DO NOT END THIS SERIES AT SEASON 10 and bring more villains.
I’m going to have to completely agree here. It should definitely be at least 12 years, before they end Smallville.
If they go traditional in anyway close to the original Superman, then they at least should have two more seasons after Season 10. 12 years will pass for Clark’s journey, and being we’re already at Season 10, why not go for two more years? If it’s really said that Smallville’s at #1, then really; why get rid of such a good thing?
The twelve years will be the set up Superman really needs, and plus, we all love the characters. Anyone who has watched all 9 Seasons, would agree with me that these characters will be sorely missed. There will be a lot of people angry with the powers that be, if they get rid of this show.

i think that yes smallville is amazing and i dont want it to end, but we all have to take in that these actors may not be wanting to do this anymore like tom and alison have been doing this for 10 years. if it were me i would prob be wanting a change. then in saying that this season better be insane! clark needs to fly for sure and yes someone needs to die. but im not sure if it should be chloe.
Season 10 could be longer, with quite a few additional episodes or two hour movies, but not sure that more seasons would necessarily give us what we want as fans. They tend to bail for mid-season intermissions twice during seasons. Perhaps it could be straight through from September to May instead. Lois Lane’s pretty sure that was Clark that kissed her in the final episode of season 9. Perhaps she could go to the Kent farm and see the note from “mom” and open the box and be a typical woman over wardrobe and at least let the fans see the costume, even if Tom never put it on during the whole season or even finale.
Perhaps the book of Rao could have the unforeseen consequence of setting things in motion in the Fortress and season 10 begins with Jor-el rescuing Clark and giving him the chewing out of a life time that it’s time to stop playing in the sandbox with Zod and be a real hero. roflol Jor-el’s come across that way a few times during Smallville, like Clark’s best ain’t quite been good enough a few times, especially in earlier seasons. So sorry if that was sacreligious to anyone! Point being, nearly every episode of Season 10 could be the switch over to Superman, FULLY. And yes, Jimmy needs to be raised from the dead, but not in a way that costs Chloe her life. Perhaps bringing Jimmy back has the unforeseen side-effect of resurrecting or cloning or in some other way bringing Lex back.
Lana needs to come back after having decontaminated herself, by having ran all of the lights in her house for a couple of years or so out of the kryptonite she absorbed or whatever. If it didn’t make her sick, she should be able to put it away from her, even if it were something psychic that were a part of her new alien powers where she simply had bad emotions about the separation from Clark until she was no longer radio-active with the nasty green stuff. Not sure that any of us know who or what may have grabbed Green Arrow at the close of Season 9, so we’re speculating a bit too hard on that one, sometimes, online, guys! Maybe Tess Mercer’s her beautiful, seductively charming self again for Season 10.
Top priority is obviously getting the blue kryptonite dagger out of Clark Kent as he’s free falling from a skyscraper as human as any other human and fully capable of having every bone in his body broken and every organ in his body being spat out of his mouth in a pool of blood if Martian Manhunter, Hawkman, or somebody else able to play catch with Clark doesn’t grab him. Perhaps Kara, maybe. Wishing Pete would be a regular on Smallville again for season 10. I think I bumped into a reference to Pete Ross in the Superman mythos as a highschool boyfriend of Lana Lang on wikipedia or somewhere else online, so, it’s not a hard leap to bring him back, if some version of him has existed in prior Superman literature, previous to Smallville.
As far as Lex Luthor, Michael’s only cheating himself by not letting his own portrayal tie up the current incarnation of Lex Luthor ’cause they can do a bunch of shadowy stuff and hearsay and occasional oddities and spooky stuff to imply dude’s still alive or has been brought back as a clone or had some brain damage and loss of memory, but is making a recovery, sans any memories of Clark being the Kryptonian he’d pre-judged. Not a hard leap since he was frost bitten in the arctic ’cause he wasn’t wearing a hat and ear muffs when he tried to nix Clark and then a bomb blew up in his face courtesy of Oliver Queen. Perhaps another 31st century villian saved Lex’s life and nursed him back to health, sans his memories of who Clark was and had been to him, and the Legion intervenes and nabs the guy before Lex is well enough to take in the reminders about Clark.
There’s enough to play with, simply with fan feedback, to give the show another 10yrs, for sure, but Welling and Mack probably are looking to do other things, just as much as CW’s looking to transition from the show while the show’s still on top rather than to can a great show after ratings go down the toilet and they scramble to give us 3 to 5 really really lousy episodes to pseudo-justify their decision based upon numbers and income bottomlines on the show. I would love to see it go into 12yrs, but not if it went into half a dozen episodes of the latest Kryptonite infected sociopath, as we had with the first season or two where that became a real habit, as writers were spinning their wheels wondering what to do with a 14yr old freshman in highschool with a “no tights, no flights” contract.
This show running it’s course after 10yrs isn’t like the cancellation of a lot of other programs, like Moonlight, New Amsterdam, or Shark or some of the other shows of the last 3yrs or so where they left a completely devastated public, where the core ideas and characters of the show weren’t well defined enough to be able to resurrect the show at some future date with other actors. This is like Doctor Who or Star Trek, where the number of fans and the level of devotion to the mythos won’t soon be forgotten by those who make their money doing this kind of programming.
This finale will light a fire under their butts about either future TV movies or we’ll have another decade of Superman movies like the 80s to capitalize on the very deep interest and fully developed fan base. Perhaps if they don’t nuke Chloe or whatever, with Season 10, perhaps she can do a cameo in a future Superman movie, along with the Green Arrow we’ve loved from the last few years of Smallville. Although even if she were killed off with the last Season of Smallville, which I pray she never is, she could still be a fond memory for Superman in the Superman movies, as he reflects back on the past, who his true friends have been, or some timely piece of advise, et. al. Perhaps they could give us extra Season 10 episodes for the DVDs when they come out, if they’re only going to show on the network the number of shows they’ve always shown for a season. Perhaps the best we can ask for, if those with the final decisions regarding this are feeling ending it with Season 10 is for the best.
I bet theyre gonna use Tom welling as the lead actor in the superman reboot. Think about it… the flash forward was to 2013, theyre ending smallville, and theres a superman movie due around that time. It all adds up.
Hai all, I’m 35 now…. i feel so sad whaen i looked for the reviews of season 10 ( after i Finish my season 9 on dvd ) … i found that season 10 will be the last …… I’m very huge Fans of Superman … I lived in Indonesia … I have red n blue costum when i was a kid … got it when 4th bday …. I see all movie about superman ( superman I – IV, lois and Clark, Superboy, Superman Return … and SMALLVILE ) ….. and The SMALLVILLE Series is the best and great …. frm 1 to 9 …. It’s not about super power, it’s not bout super heroes …. like all movie did…. it’s description our live … love, sacrifeice, betrayal, greedy etc …. it’s more humanity tahn super heroes movie…… that’s the difference SMALLVILLE than other SUPERMAN movie …. so we hope if it end at 10 please make all the big question get answer …. It’s mean a lot to SUPERMAN Fans …. not just in comic but in our life SUPERMAN give us figure and inspiration.
Some point for end this MASTERPIECE SHOW :
1. appearence of Batman ( give 2-3 episode at last eps)
2. Clark become Superman use the legendary Red n Blue pose on the top of White House
3. just Gather the Justice League in 2-3 episode
4. If Michael wont back … its OK… just make it another ending …. he become an eternal enemy ….tehy could put Lex in another series ( Metropolis or Superman The Man of Steel or New Lois and Clark )

I wonder what happens to Lana Lang and how is she? Season 1 to 8 is more of LANA and CLARK, its unfair for the fans who waited and followed what will happen in their love story and just to know that they will not end up together.. Lana and Clark should be together in the finale its SMALLVILLE anyway. Lois just exist in Superman..
I think that in season 10..lex should return..It does not make sense for him to not be there as clarks enemy..this is where the true characters are revealed..and clark comes out of his shell and flies..so i hope that this season 10 will be a blast, and i can add it to my collection..i wonder how this season will go.. its seems like the rest of the characters will have to forget how clark looks..They already know how he looks as clark without his specs..what will happen if he turns into superman..wont they recognise him? In the real superman movies..clark looks for a job at the daily planet,looking like a nerd with his glasses on..in smallville he is already working at the daily planet as he would have looked in his superman outfit..
I just hope that this season ends in a way that clark is at the daily planet with his disguise..the glasses..I really hope there is a next season..
