The day that Smallville fans have been dreading is finally here. The CW will announce on Thursday that the long-running superhero drama will be ending after Season 10.

Tom Welling: Smallville Season 10 Will Be Its Last

[Update: Be Sure To Check out our Smallville Season 10 Premiere Review!]

After a truly amazing ninth season finale, Smallville fans were hoping to catch a glimpse of the promised 2013 future in which Clark Kent has thrown The Blur costume away and finally become Superman.

Unfortunately, that day will never come as The CW is set announce on Thursday, during their upfront, that Smallville season 10 will also be the series’ last.

Tom Welling, proving that not only is he faster than a speeding bullet, but also The CW’s public relations, revealed the news of Smallville’s final season to Hollywood Life while attending a party celebrating the release of legendary film producer Jerry Weintraub’s new book. Welling said:

“Season 10 of Smallville will be the last season”

While the news is a huge blow to Smallville fans that have invested nine years in the series, keep in mind that there’s still one more season left. With the foreshadowing provided in the season 9 finale, there’s a good chance that the season 10 will not only be its last, but also its best.

We all know that by the end of Smallville, Clark has to not only fly, but also become Superman. Hopefully, with all the “training” required for him to reach those goals, The CW will at least give us a couple episodes with Clark as the legendary Man of Steel, instead of waiting until the final moments of the series finale to have him don his infamous red and blues (but don’t bet on it).

Unfortunately, no matter how much flying Clark does, there will still be one big piece of the Superman puzzle missing: Lex. A couple of months ago, actor Michael Rosenbaum stated that he will not be returning to Smallville. Although, with Smallville coming to an end, maybe his former cast members can coax him into returning – even if it is only for one episode.

…a man can dream, right?

Smallville: Season 10 Will Be Its Last

What do you think of Smallville finally ending? What are you expecting out of the final season? Will Clark become Superman? Is there any way Michael Rosenbaum will return to the series?

The tenth and final season of Smallville returns this fall on The CW.

  1. Iv been a die hard smallville fan for 9 years, I and prolly all the other fans think they should atleast make another superman movie but with all the smallville cast, and then keep it going, its been awsome to see clark become who he is but this cant be the end, theres to many meteor freaks to catch haha!!!!

  2. 3. it Cant be the end!!! s11 come on !!!

  4. I’ve been watching smallville since season one. To me I believe that this man of steel movie they are making should have Tom welling! Smallville will always be the number one show in my heart! It’s so sad to see it end and im wishing and prying to GOD that they will make one more season. Just to show how people are coping and when he finally changes his name from the blur to superman, ugh this sucks. I love you “Smallville”!!-Blur

    • Smallville is an amazing sow. Unfortunatly, I can see Tom Welling as Clark Kent. Before smallville, I never really new what the superman storyline was. I now believe that he is my alltime favorite super hero. Please make a season 11. All viewers want it, i know that they do. I love smallville and i look foward to catching up on the seasons. Thanks for making the ten seasons that you have. I am currently watching season 6, desperatly needing to catch up.

      • I meant that i can see tom welling as the best superman portrayer. no one else does it like he does.

  5. No sparkling wiggles the last season I loved it!

  6. I thought about why I like the show so much. Nothing to do with the good looking people!!?!! Blush ha ha ;)
I think it just takes me far enough from the real world and make me for an instance feel that anything is possible. That we have the power to make a difference in this complicated world. We don’t even have to be a superman to challenge the oppression and unfair situations that can drag some of us down. Its kind of like Robin Hood, but with style. (I like Robin as well, he is just more old world.)

  7. CW are insane to stop Smallville just as clark finally turns into the hero millions of die hard fans have been waiting for, I personally cant tell myself theres no more after S-10 … Surely it cant be left how it ended, theres got to be more, id be a wreck without Smallville its my num 1 program, please please fetch season 11, 12, 13 & so on
